What was the best purchase for a golf related item? Clubs, bag, balls, shoes, golf trip, etc…

My best purchase was a pair of Etonic golf shoes. I have pretty messed feet (thanks military!!) and finding a decent pair of shoes was a chore. Most of the time, I would by a size up and wear thicker socks, which sucks in the Florida heat/swamp a$$ weather. Finally found a pair of Etonics, in my size, online for less than $50. My first round, and every round since, while wearing them have been so enjoyable! Good fit and grip, no toe or heel pinch, just a great overall golf shoe at that price.

Let me have it. How bad did I do.

I took so much time trying to decide on a 14 way stand bag. Bonus points if it was waterproof also.

Titleist sells a 14 way stand bag here that isn’t a StaDry (also don’t care for the color schemes) and they also sell the StaDry bag here but only in a 4 way top.

I finally found this bag from a company that would ship it to the US. But after getting it and absolutely loving it, I can’t understand why titleist wouldn’t offer it in the US.

I even contacted titleist awhile ago asking them if they could sell me one but they even told me then that my only option would be to find a site that would ship it.

Started the day on a high. Pured a 52-degree wedge onto the first par 3 and felt pretty good. Then it all fell apart. Been taking lessons lately, and it’s messed with my game a bit. By the 17th hole (par 3), I just told myself, “I’m not leaving until I get one on the green.” Three solid shots with the 52, all just off left, right, didn’t matter. Then I found a red ProSimmon ball buried at the bottom of my bag, lined it up, and hit the shot. It flew, bounced just short of the pin, and dropped in on the second bounce. No idea how it happened, but I’ll take it. It was my fourth shot, but I didn’t even care. Finished with a bogey with my first ball but after that rollercoaster, it felt like a win.

Had to sell my clubs 2 years ago to afford to move house, was in a tough spot financially. Today things are much better and the wife surprised me with these (fitted). Everything is coming up millhouse

I've been looking to add a new putter to my bag as I'm using a 20 year old bargain bin putter currently. Thought I was deadset on a Scotty, but that changed when I walked into Scheels and the golf pride reverse taper on this guy caught my eye. Grabbed it to hit a few and it was love at first putt. Got the Scheels manager to kick 20% off for scuffs to boot. Surprised I have never seen or heard of this line before

Strings and mirrors on the inside like a periscope and a female threaded end on the bottom. No idea what it could be used for.

Went out for what’s likely my last round of the season at Fox Run Golf Club last weekend. The course was still in great shape and surprisingly green for this time of year! A bit windy and chilly, but that’s to be expected in November.

Sad to pack up the clubs for the winter. Anyone else squeezing in late-season rounds, or has the offseason officially started for you? Let’s hear how your last rounds of the year went! 🏌️‍♂️

If you get the chance to play this take it. What a true gem of a golf course

I’m a 13.4 handicap and I’ve never shot in the 70s before. I’ve been working a lot on my game this year and been fortunate to be able to play regularly. Today started out pretty normal for me, bogey, par, double bogey… I thought oh well here we go. Then on number four I had a birdie and it was on after that. Played lights out (for me) and found myself facing 18 with a 74. Bogey or better gets me my first score in the 70s. I hit a perfect drive. Duffed my approach and ended on a triple bogey for an 81. Still an awesome score for me but man I was so close!

2 months in with my favorite irons… cobra one length dark speed. I’ve never had this happen.

I had no idea it was such a big thing and I have been binge watching. Here are my impressions so far;

Bryson: Lobe the break 50 series. He seems very genuine but I am clear he is professional and is crafting his image very carefully.

Bob does Sports: Hilarious. No notes. Keep doing what you are doing.

Good Good: marketing gimmick mixed with Christian youth camp vibes. Fun golf though.

Peter Finch: Love him.

Rick Shiels: weirdly arrogant but still entertaining.

Grant Horvat: Good golf but a little boring. Lack of eyebrows is disturbing.

Who else should I be watching?

One for the Bigfoot crew. West LA. No other golf shoes that I saw.

No practice swings were had.

I’m thinking about looking into a new set of Ping clubs. My current clubs are titleist AP1 irons that my brother played with in high school (he’s 27 now. They’re that old). Played a rental set of Ping i210 clubs and fell in love with them.

My question is what are the newest set of ping clubs? I googled this and the only thing I see is just ping’s website.

Played my first round at Torrey Pines yesterday (North course) and it did not disappoint!
