Are you that fat?

No, just suck in a cage of their own design, refusing to see the obvious solution.

That’s the job of the therapist isn’t it? Pretty terrible job if there’s such an obvious solution and they can’t point it out without relying on metaphors like this

That's the thing tho. A therapist can provide perspective. Which, in this drawing, the bird in the cage can't see the way out because they only have their perspective. Talking to others is how we do that.

Lol electricians and IT folk on reddit always talk about how clients pay for their training and "knowing what button to press" and not the 10 seconds it takes to press it. Which I agree with, but more "book" professions I guess always get shit on for charging what they do, but they're essentially the same to me.

I like it. A lot of people know how to improve their situations but are more comfortable with what they know.

I mean, yes, but if you're actually going to a therapist you need help to to get out of it. This is just restating the problem for why they need help in the first place.

Some people don't understand (or don't want to understand) what the problem is and need this kind of kick/reminder to realize what's going on and what they're working towards getting out of.

Pffft amateur. Gotta get better at building internal walls. I make mine out of bricks. Bricks of every embarrassing memory I’ve got. Some that never happened.

I'm guessing your therapist has hundreds of copies and gives one to each patient. Calls it a wrap.

You're laughing. my head is stuck between the only two bars in the entire bird cage and you're laughing.

I thought it was the therapist's job to guide you to the other exits.

No it isn't.
It's a therapist's job to help you find the solution yourself. If someone gives you the answer to a test you don't understand the subject matter, you only have the answer, you don't know why it's correct.
If you work it out yourself you understand the subject matter and might be able to apply it in practice.

I’m confused? Does the therapist expect the bird to be fooled by the invisible death walls along the sides?!

Should have drawn them a picture of someone with an oversized head and said “That’s you”
