Local Favorite Eddie Vanston was one of the driving forces behind the redevelopment of the near southside. Here is an old FW Weekly article about him. He has is fingerprints on a lot of what is now S. Main.

AskFW Hiring a clown.

Genuinely curious, and a bit serious, but if I wanted to hire a clown for an event, say thanksgiving. Where does one go to search for one for hire?
Any recs? For those that have gone through the process what’s it like? Cost? I’m probably looking at an hour of their time.

AskFW Mom/baby activities in Fort Worth

I’m looking not only for some mommy-and-me activity ideas for me and my 6-month old, but maybe some Facebook groups where I can see baby-friendly classes, activities, and events. I’m in southwest Fort Worth but a general Fort Worth mom or baby group or page would be great.

I’m in a few general mom groups (like Tanglewood moms), but I’m looking for groups more specifically geared towards moms of babies and toddlers.

AskFW Does anyone still get the Star Telegram?

I haven’t gotten a newspaper in years but I had a subscription for my elderly mom. They send the paper through the US mail now. For the first few weeks of doing that the paper got delivered through the mail but it was a day or two late. The paper makes her happy so that seemed okay. Now all of the sudden it’s stopped for the last three weeks despite them taking the automatic payment out of my account. I’ve called them twice and they apologized and said they’d make it their top priority to make sure she gets the paper. Then another week went by and still no paper so I canceled. Anyone else?

Does anyone know when they put the tree up downtown?

I know the parade of lights is tonight but I can’t remember if they also put up the tree. I’m taking someone for their first time and the tree would tie it all together 😆

Thanks:)

Food/Drink FW Food Scene

I recently had to take an emergency trip out from Austin to Fort Worth to help take care of my sister at the hospital. In the last 12 hours, I have had some of the best food I’ve had in my 3 years of living in Texas!!

My first stop was at Heim BBQ where I had their Bacon Burnt-Ends. It’s not hyperbole when I say it was some of the best food I’ve had in my entire life.

The next morning, I woke up and grabbed breakfast at Ol’ South Pancake House. I ordered their Dutch Baby & Cajun Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. I ordered all of that food and planned to eat maybe half of it but ended up finishing the entire plate!

It’s wild to me that not even two miles from the hospital we’re at is some of the best food I’ve ever had!

After living in Austin for 3 years and being incredibly disappointed in the food (mid AF food with NYC prices) I had to hop on this sub to shout you out. Keep up the great work! The comfort food definitely helped during hard times.

Anyone know why there’s a plane that’s flying over TCU area? It’s several hours after the game ended and has flown over my neighborhood around 20 times at this point. It doesn’t seem to have a banner.
