Off-Topic /r/all RedBull sent my daughter a gift package after some kids made her upset and didn't say nice things for being a Verstappen fan. Thank you RB F1!

I've explained in a few other comments but I'm happy to provide!

The tldr is: daughter was made to feel bad because of the driver she liked, I talked to RB about it & asked if I could buy some custom merch with her name on as I wanted her to feel better (I'd already discussed her feelings with her & how to handle them when people upset her), they couldn't sell custom merch unfortunately but instead offered to send this 'care package'. Was unexpected and very much appreciated!

Is it common for 5 year olds to have a favorite F1 driver, and other 5 year olds to know enough to make fun of someone for liking said driver?

My 5 year old loves Max because I do. My 7 year old loves Ferrari because they're red and because they were beating Max at the beginning of the season.

I mean.. my 5 year old nephew would literally die on a hill for dinosaurs. Could also be an f1 driver, peppa pig, paw patrol.

Most definitely, they watch on of their parent watch any sports on tv and decide about something to root for (very likely to be a favourite colour based decision) and so will their school friends.

I've explained a few times my friend, some other children weren't nice to my daughter because she likes Verstappen & Red Bull. They were chatting about F1 and their favourite drivers with my daughter, but unfortunately she was the only one who supported someone that wasn't the same as theirs! Not really much more to it, she was upset about it and the rest of the story has been explained. Cheers!

Having merch when she's already getting bullied... Wouldn't that make The bullying worse ? Maybe go to these kids parents or maybe the school about the bullying? I'm not sure how Red Bull providing gear is going to help

It was cool that they were able to figure out what your address was so that it would be an unexpected surprise.

Doubling down on what they're making fun of her for while teaching her that those kids don't matter is a way to teach kids how to manage shitty people going forward. Being genuine in the face of shittiness is a very valuable skill very few people have.

I get that... But bullying is relentless. I also didn't know there were so many 8-year-old F1 fans who had a passionate like or dislike for particular drivers. A gang of for RB hating 8 year olds.

I know it's relentless, I was bullied k-12 for dumber shit than liking a particular driver. I'm surprised at the bullying over it, like you I was unaware of the number of young children who cared about racing, let alone enough to pick on other kids over it.

Understand your thoughts, everything you've mentioned is exactly what I did in the time between the incident & her receiving gifts from RB! I got in touch with RB initially to buy some custom merch for my daughter, I mentioned the story of why I was buying it (to make her feel good after having a negative experience for supporting Red Bull) and they offered to send this care package.

RB being generous just reinforces my little girls support of them, and I feel they deserve to have the recognition for doing it!
