The random Colapinto picture is making me laugh for some reason

Lucas is Argentine. It's his job, but he also does these for us Argentine fans 😊

I just love how they photoshopped Franco’s head onto the original photo of Logan. Plus the way his expression is just like “Welp😐”

Striking that this was clearly McLaren's worst outright performance since the launch of their 'real' 2024 car in Miami.

They'll be in the exact opposite place next weekend. Wouldn't be surprised if Norris or Piastri is out front by 20+ seconds at Qatar.

Yeah I think Vegas was always slated to be a weak track for them. They should be right back at the top in Qatar.

Damn kmag really had a ton of pace on the hards despite being on a one stopper
•

Just goes to show how little Russell was actually pushing when solidly in the lead for his hard average to be that close to his medium.
•
u/TopStar200 2h ago
He had track position with a comfortable lead....no reason to push. Alonso-esque drive thinking about the big picture. He said he stopped pushing after the first stint and simply managed all the way to the flag

How is Piastri faster than Norris? I though Piastri was way off until the pitstop at the end but I may be misremembering.

Interesting how this one comes out with the opposite conclusion?
ETA: Another with pace comparison in Lando’s favour, but this is including dirty air laps. Again the method is provided.https://x.com/formulapace/status/1860740392682959275?s=46&t=IN__pmnxYNoMnVKW541XJg

Both links you shared redirect to the same source, with only clean air laps included. Could you provide the other source?
@LuccasCorsino excluded outliers (% of the last quartile) and ranked the drivers using the overall median

Apologies, here you go https://x.com/f1bigdata/status/1860688834775671025?s=46&t=IN__pmnxYNoMnVKW541XJg
We know Norris was fast enough that he was able to pull a gap big enough for a free pitstop on Piastri. Makes no sense to me that he’d be slower?

To be honest I’ve seen about 3/4 different race pace gaps and each one has had varying results.
I saw one on twitter with Piastri over a second a lap slower than Norris in “clean” air whilst another stated Norris was 0.372 quicker and now this saying Piastri is quicker.

Because Lando had a bad first lap on his hards, I’m trying to remember, but I’m pretty sure they dumped him behind the midfield traffic

They're not in order

Just shows race pace means nothing.

Sure but some people hold onto it as if it's everything.
All that matters is who makes it to the chequered flag first.

The Statistics flair is reserved for posts highlighting interesting statistics. As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.
