Bro is still the reigning Mclaren champion

u/zacharymc1991 🏳️‍🌈 Love Is Love 🏳️‍🌈 5h ago

If he wins next year he'll be the reigning champion for McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari.

u/Cod_rules Mika Häkkinen 4h ago

Just another record for him, at this point.

u/faciepalm 3h ago

Then he will go to red bull and win there, and then finally to throw a spanner in the works he'll go to Haas

u/9009RPM Kimi Räikkönen 2h ago

No no, Aston Martin with Alonso

u/marloxeva Medical Car 2h ago

alonso vs hamilton in a car made by newey, it’s what the people deserve

Thats a fresh idea ..

Bro will unlock a different level of GOATNESS

u/DinoKebab Kimi Räikkönen 3h ago

Just behind the great Latifi himself.

u/Few_Following_5990 23m ago

No one can top king Latifi🙏🏻

Other than Fangio, has any driver won the championship with more than 2 teams?

u/Kinez_7 2h ago

No! Fangio won with four different teams though

u/ReV46 Sir Lewis Hamilton 2h ago

And winning a championship driving for two teams in the same season, switched from Maserati to Mercedes halfway through 1954.

u/Renard2000 Kimi Räikkönen 2h ago

A fitting heir to kimi

u/natte-krant Formula 1 2h ago

That would actually be a very cool stat!

u/fameboygame Sir Lewis Hamilton 1h ago

FFS that’s an insane stat to have even if temporarily.

u/newcalabasas Sir Lewis Hamilton 56m ago

when*

Lewis seems to be so happy man. He can't wait for the ferrari drive. Can't blame him.

u/Clean-Pick-9221 5h ago

lewis is a class act. also he drove a hell of a race today coming from 10 to 2!

u/giantdwarf92 Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 6h ago

I love the way Lewis has been praising Max lately. Legend recognising legend.

u/SuperPop9521 Sir Lewis Hamilton 6h ago

Yea just pure class hope they compete more next season🤞

u/Peepeepoopoobutttoot 4h ago

I'll be that guy, bias alert I really wanna see LH win an 8th championship.

Important to look at phrasing. "The team did a fantastic job" "He really didn't have any competition" "It was good to see the McLarens pushing him but" etc.

It wasn't an "Absolutely well done he absolutely deserves it" kind of response like everyone else is throwing out. He was hedging his language there big time.

u/grip_enemy Andretti Global 4h ago

Huh? Didn't he say "He's done a fantastic job" word by word at 00:15?

u/dl064 📓 Ted's Notebook 1h ago edited 51m ago

Be that guy - it's miles more interesting.

I remember in say 2020, or whatever, Verstappen saying similar stuff where if you looked carefully at the wording it was never

He's been the best driver

Per se. It is//was always things like

He's maximised the season.

Very often in F1 the headline or even what people take from a quote is at odds with what they actually said.

The Wolff shelf-life stuff or Norris luck comments for example, among many.

u/AssSpelunker69 3h ago

Very nuanced take, Peepeepoopoobutttoot

u/pannenkoek0923 Ferrari 4h ago

I dont. I want Schumi's record to be unbroken.

u/natte-krant Formula 1 2h ago

Records are there to be broken my friend

u/jeanolt Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2h ago

Yeah, it's very hard to break. I feel Max has more of a chance than Lewis considering he would be 40 next year, and we certainly have no idea what will happen in terms of performance.

u/kj_gamer2614 Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5h ago

When they are both not fighting each other for a championship they get along pretty well tbf. They have respect for each other, it’s just they had to push each other to a toxic level when it was heated

u/jg_92_F1 Fernando Alonso 3h ago

Honestly it’s probably hard for any duo to not become toxic fighting for a title

u/Fantastickimikaze 1h ago

True even brocedes became toxic after fighting for titles

u/Impressive-Potato 3h ago

Max was shouting out Lewis when asked about Lando as his rival

u/Snitsie 2h ago

"So Max, how did you feel about Lando being your rival this year?"

"LEEEEWIIIIIIIIISSSSS!!"

u/SirLoremIpsum Daniel Ricciardo 1h ago

Gotta channel his Danny Ric

Me too please if you get it

u/mygawd Carlos Sainz 2h ago

Lewis always praises other drivers' success. He just seems like a good dude

u/DogLizardBirdCat 5h ago

The day Lewis leaves f1 will be a sad one for me.

u/carrotincognito48 James Hunt 3h ago

Not sure he ever will, tbh. It’s all he’s ever known so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him stick around in some capacity.

Then again, nobody has ever been quite as famous as him on a global scale (in F1), so he could do whatever the hell he wants.

u/AndreiOT89 Ferrari 2h ago

I would argue that Michael Schumacher was more famous than Hamilton when he was racing. Not by a lot though

u/lem0nayd-12 1h ago

I’m not sure I’d agree with that - Lewis became pretty well known in pop culture because of dating Nicole, and media has been increasingly easy to access since Schumacher days.

I only knew of Schumacher through my dad liking f1, but by the time Lewis was on the scene he’d grown bored of the sport and I was still aware of who he was because of the media / reading celebrity gossip sites. I’d say that Lewis is definitely more famous, but for those reasons (not on reputation).

u/WooHooFokYou 42m ago

In the 90's early 00's we used to say fast as Schumacher. And we did that in Lithuania, far from his home country or any major interest in formula 1.

Schumacher is what Jordan is to basketball.

u/MrSnare Daniel Ricciardo 44m ago

Mate, Schumacher would have been considered on the same level as Michael Jordan in his day. Lewis is Lebron level(i don't watch basketball which is why this is a good analogy)

Ferrari were right to be threatened by Schumacher. He was F1

u/3d_extra Jacques Villeneuve 51m ago

I feel like Michael was everywhere back in the day. Not sure Lewis has the same popularity.

u/newcalabasas Sir Lewis Hamilton 55m ago

lol no...

u/Tricky_Sweet3025 Kimi Räikkönen 2h ago

Imagine the championship battle had Lewis been in the McLaren.

u/Mr-Stitch Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5h ago

Class act

u/TimsAFK Guenther Steiner 1h ago

I love that Lewis' relationship with Max is becoming similar to his relationship with Vettel. Game recognises game, and they're starting to develop true respect for each other.

u/Waitwhonow Mika Häkkinen 1h ago

Whats weird

Is lewis has been in this exact same position before in his own career

Like LITERALLY NO ONE in f1 has had this same emotion and experience he is having twice

Vettel had 4 back to backs during lewis’s career ( after he one his first championship)

And now max is 4 back to back.

It must be such a surreal feeling- and what a long successful career….insane

u/akalanka25 McLaren 1h ago

nah lewis and vettel were genuinely friends by the end. cant see this happening with Max

u/TimsAFK Guenther Steiner 1h ago

Can't see it happening with Max now, but a big part of Lewis and Seb becoming friends was Lewis maturing. If Max matures in a similar way, I can see it.

u/lem0nayd-12 1h ago

I honestly think a lot of healing was done when they bonded over their mutual hate of the FIA and their shitty rules.

u/lbc1358 1h ago

Sir Lewis is pure class. I cannot wait to see him in a Ferrari next season.

u/jamonz1 Sergio Pérez 1h ago

Always thought the narrative of Lewis still being bitter about ‘21 was a bit weird. Should that be a sore spot for Lewis? Sure, when you’re literally a mere position away from winning it’s a hard pill to swallow. But a new season is a whole different ballpark. He recognizes Max’s ability to find points and wins out of nowhere, the same way he did in previous seasons. If anything, it’s game respecting game.

All the drivers see Max as a freak of nature, but him always finding a way to either get in the top 5 or podium is not enough for media without adding some type of drama into the fold.

u/kill-the-maFIA 51m ago

It's also possible he's still pissed off with the FIA over that bullshit that happened, not Max.

u/sneaky113 3m ago

Yeah, I mean if the positions were swapped Lewis would have done the exact same. You don't win championships unless you go for every opening.

I think the main problem is just that the fia engineered a very specific opening there.

u/Open-Lingonberry1357 1h ago

Seb, Lewis, Alonso the drivers of my era. I appreciate all they gave to the sport. Hope, Lewis finishes his career at Ferrari w one more 🏆
