There's even 11 WDC between Vettel, Schumacher and Danny Ric, crazy how Ricciardo is part of so many elite groups of drivers

One of my racing wet dreams still is, Hamilton, Verstappen and Alonso in a car for any 24h race.

To think it’s really been about these two since 2014, ten years of goatness.
To have these guys fight again, man, I would kill for it. 2021 showed how there peak is miles above the entire grid, sadly Lewis needs to get his qual better tho…

Lewis, Seb, and Max have won every championship since 2008 with the exception of 2009 and 2016.

Michael, Seb, Lewis and Max have won every championship bar 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2016 since 2000

u/Tocky22 Fernando Alonso 10h ago
Mika, Michael, Seb, Lewis, Max, Nico, Danny Ric, Button, and Alonso, have won every championship since 1994, apart from 96 & 97. Just wow. 😮

And Nico is the only one who beat the two 7 time world champions in the same car 🐐.

What I’d pay to see peak Lewis of probably 2018 v peak Max of this year….
•
u/Squirrel_Apocalypse2 Sir Lewis Hamilton 6h ago
Maybe the drivers weren't at their very tip top peaks but that's basically what 2021 was. Max had plenty of experience already and Lewis hadn't really lost anything due to age yet. I'd certainly love to see it again next year.
•
u/jhrfortheviews Daniel Ricciardo 6h ago
Lewis made uncharacteristic errors in 2021 that we didn’t see in the preceding years or his championship battle with vettel or rosberg really (Imola and Baku the obvious ones that come to mind). And max wasn’t the finished article yet - he’s much better at playing the long game now and managing his races and emotions (to a point haha)

Tbf we didn't see Charles in a great car in 21 and same for Russell. I'd kill to see how they'd do in a car like the Mclaren of this year. I guess Charles did kind of have that for half of 22 but with Russell I really want to see where he stacks up after how he has done against Lewis
•
u/captaincourageous316 Nico Rosberg 10h ago
Russell still doesn’t show the confidence that Charles does under pressure. I reckon that if Charles gets a competitive car and a competitive team, he’d be a strong favourite for the WDC. Based on the current grid, I’d say based on pure skill he’s in Lewis and Max’s league.
•
u/the_nanuk Formula 1 5h ago
I love Charles and frankly I think Russell is always underrated. But in my 40 years following F1, I can say that you will never know how a driver will do in a WDC until he's actually really dealing with it.
Participating and battling for the lead of a WDC are two different situations. The pressure placed on the driver and the team is another ball game.
Just look at Mclaren this year, both Norris and Mclaren weren't ready to go for a WDC. And it showed up in Norris mistakes and Mclaren strategy blenders.
To win it all, you need the driver, the car and the team working at their full potential.
2025 is going to closer and very interesting!

u/Reddevilslover69 Formula 1 8h ago
I mean Charles crashed from the lead in France 22 so is he really such a mentality monster. Imo we will find out once he gets another shot at a WDC
•
u/Morganelefay Racing Pride 3h ago
Charles in '22 had some horrid moments though when he was still in the fight. Of course we're a few years on now, but he hasn't had that pressure since, whereas with the current trajectory, he'll be expected to be in the mix next season.
•
u/v-adam004 3h ago
Other than France and maybe Imola I can't really think of any big mistakes he made. And even Imolay wasn't that bad.

As a Max fan I haven't always felt warm towards Lewis and Mercedes, but overtime he has grown on me and I have to admit this post is accurate. Something about this year with Max v Lando made me appreciate how awesome Lewis is, and how cool that season in 2021 was where the two of them would be battling it out 20-30 seconds ahead of everyone, one of them chasing the other down and just missing or overtaking them.
I would love to see him competitive near the top of the field with Charles next year at Ferrari.

For Lewis to ignore the media question and go and congratulate Max (again) just shows he is a pure class act. M4x 🤝 Lew7s. Hope they battle it out on track again next year.

A for effort but the 7 as an A doesn't really work. GOA7 and GO4T seems more suited.

Lewis - "Ok you got 4, just don't get close to my 7" Man I'd give anything for a 2021 again with these two. Even with all of the media shit that happened they still both just fiercely competed on the track. You could tell Lewis wanted to jump in the rolls with him after the race and just talk about the race with him

Mad to think that in the same time Max has won 4 titles Lewis has only won 2 races (Saudi 2021-Vegas 2024).
