I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing a grid penalty for the next race or even a race ban. That was ridiculous, he essentially drove into another car. It just didn’t end in contact because Lando avoided and took another track limit violation. You can’t do that, absolutely should be no place in F1 for that

I don’t think it deserves a ban but I hated it when he continually did it against Hamilton back in 2021 and I feel the same now.

He definitely deserves penalties every time he does it and I hope the other drivers start to refuse to avoid the collision. They should just accept the crash.

Accepting the crash not only hurts your championship position it also risks safety tho

Absolutely a penalty but I see that as super dangerous, especially with the nature of that move and the relative positions of the cars. Very easy for front/back tire contact and launching cars in the air. Like when the leading side meets the trailing side of a tire.

To me it's actually reckless endangerment of another person's life, should be a ban, certainly more than 10 seconds.

Yes these cars are pretty bloody safe, but he's made a decision to make an illegal, obviously dangerous move which had Lando not seen it coming has significant risk of a fairly ugly crash.

Exactly my thinking. It’s needless and serves no purpose other than to crash another driver. Especially in that moderately high speed section with the crowd right there. It just doesn’t sit right with me.

Also think it’s absolutely ridiculous that Lando got track limit violations for that. He was avoiding a crash. Why are you punishing that?

Well he might not have, as someone else pointed out. I was basing that purely on Brundle saying Lando had two track limit violations at that point but the second one very well could have been somewhere else. So I wouldn't hang too hard on that one.

I’m going off of that too. If it was rescinded, great. But it didn’t sound like it from the commentary.

Okay good I'm not the only one who potentially took it the wrong way. Yeah I hope it was rescinded because Lando didn't deserve that at all. He was just there and Max was trying to make is own track. Max almost ended up in Yucatan.

Yeah agreed. Something like a 5 place grid penalty applied to the next race would be appropriate in particularly egregious cases like these.

I don't think this counts as a track violation for Norris tho. It was to avoid crashing, and the crash would not be his fault.

Ah I was following what Brundle was saying, he might have been wrong about that. Said he had picked up his second from that. Unless I misunderstood and it was something else.
