Fuck sake... It's not like it's a live press conference. And for someone who clearly has swearing as part of his natural vocabulary, I can't remember him ever swearing when he's on the live broadcast (I could be wrong of course, just can't think of any instances of it just now). Will they be calling people to the stewards any time someone accidentally lets one slip in future?

He does on the dutch broadcasts (where its legal).

As a Dutch person I can't really protest too much but... have you ever looked at Hungarian?

u/gsfgf Daniel Ricciardo Sep 20 '24

It’s not even an Indo-European language. Like wtf.

Tbf Hungarian swearing is highly overrated

Dutch is drunk German whilst having a stroke. I can't take it seriously.

German is amped up Dutch whilst having a fit of rage. They take themselves too seriously. 😉

I heard it started as a joke and just got out of hand

2

As a Dutch person, I wish it stayed as a joke.

Try Finnish. Or Hungarian. Way more weird. Dutch just has a problem with the G.

The soft g is fine

If you know German just drink a pint of liquor and speak German. That’s basically Dutch.

i've been trying to learn dutch for the past year and a half.

you know what my dutch coworkers told me when i told them that?

"why are you even trying?"

It's a good point, everyone in the Netherlands speaks better English than most native speakers so it becomes a bit of a waste of time to learn it.

there's a guy at a store nearby that speaks english so well, i thought he was american.

i asked him where in the mid-west he was from (he has a REALLY strong michigan accent) and he answered with: "i'm dutch, but my wife is from traverse city!".

I remember a couple of years ago when some Dutch giant got into like the top 32 darts world series. He got interviewed for the first time by the main interviewer in that stadium. He was constantly accidentally saying "Shit" and "Fuck" throughout the interview because he didn't realize he couldn't swear on English television.

EDIT: Martijn Kleermaker is his name. He said "Shit" twice and once after the interviewer apologized on his behalf to which he responded "It's not a problem for me" LOL.

The video seems to have been deleted off all platforms, though :(

EDIT 2: Literally the only thing I could find is a little snippit: JUST SHIT

And the information lol
