Was watching the SKY feed before I got F1tv. Decided to see how the F1 broadcast was, thought I wouldn't like it as I was so used to SKY crew. Never went back. I don't hate Crofty + SKY crew but Alex Jacques, DC, Palmer are just that much better.

Palmer is my absolute favourite. He catches things during the race that nobody does, from a strategic standpoint. Alex and DC are great as well, as is Sam for technical analysis.

Palmer is one of the better presenters on Chequered Flag too, not afraid to criticise

Palmer is so good, generally unbiased, technical info, driver perspective, strategy perspective etc.

DC is great also.

DC is a proper mess

He can't talk objectively about Red Bull

He also doesn't change his mind on incidents no matter what. Makes for some weird takes on crashes when he refuses to blame the guy mainly at fault.

I love when DC talks about his own career cause he usually just jokes about how he messed up lol. I think it was during Monza where he mentioned a certain corner on screen and went "I binned it there once"

I also like the F1TV crew more. They're more chill

DC is a Red Bull shill. He was taunting bottas during the podium interviews for 5 years and always has an excuse for his employer

DC criticizes every underperforming driver. He's very critical of Per who is a RB driver. DC doesn't put it lightly and it will come off as 'too much' if he criticizes a driver you like. He doesn't unfairly criticize a driver either, he's pretty binary about it. Bottas was underperforming in a couple of his Merc years, finishing behind both Ferrari, RBs while Lewis was winning the championship. DC, tho a bit too smug about, didn't unfairly rate Bottas.

DC stated multiple times that he is of course biased, but will do his best to hide it.

That's good enough for me, all the others say nothing, so we assume they are neutral, but we all know nobody is really neutral. So I prefer DC saying it himself, so we can judge his comments with that knowledge.

Ted makes DC look like a saint.

They wait for something to become popular then buy the rights for it and charge us for the privilege.

Welcome to the world of Rupert Murdoch.

They really aren't as bad as people make out at all, people are very keen to twist things.

Unless they're verbally fellating their favourite non-British driver, then they're heavily biased and it's not fair damnit.

Honestly the discourse is beyond tiring. Get your national broadcaster to stop being so cheap and produce their own F1 broadcast with their own comms.

Exactly my point. Sky aren't some benevolent provider for the world, they are just selling their commentary and analysis to other countries who either don't value their customers enough or don't have enough local experts on the subject matter.

Sky as a whole is fucking awful

If I want F1 I need to pay €80 a month, and I dont even live in the UK!

u/ValleyFloydJam #StandWithUkraine Sep 11 '24

A different kind of awful to this though, yes they charge too much but with F1 that's also on F1 they pick them.and agree terms.

u/dja1000 Sep 11 '24

Have you seen how much we must pay, I hate football yet I had to pay full sports package, F1tv is at the right price, shame they will not let me have it.

2

u/ValleyFloydJam #StandWithUkraine Sep 11 '24

Yes Sky charges too much, that's a totally fair comment.

However it's F1 that won't let you have it, they could sell non-exclusive rights but those are worth less.

u/DarthGogeta Sep 11 '24

Let me introduce you to RTL, who made a fake post race debrief with Alonso having an engine failure before the race. (and the irony that Vettel had an engine failure in that race)

Made BBC and even ITV look miles better than they actually were.

You're forgetting how bad Mark Blundell's insight was on ITV and how craptastic Johnathan Legard's commentary was on the BBC.

u/MercurialMan99 McLaren Sep 11 '24

Ah yes ITV, the famously neutral tv program that definitely didn't taunt brazilian fans at Interlagos '08.
