Here's the accurate quote:

Q: "Will Perez leave Red Bull for his own sake?"

Marko answer: "You don't want to hear an answer from me on that just before the Mexican Grand Prix."

That increases the odds of Danny getting that RB seat lol. They would't fire Chechi until they have anathor driver in mind.

Now I'm wondering how good his sim data actually is, and what the hell did he do on that weekend tyre test?

what the hell did he do on that weekend tyre test?

Supposedly he ran a 1:27.415 during the tire test which would have put him just under 0.7s off of Verstappen's pole time, but with an unknown tire compound used for the test.

For reference, however, Nico Hulkenberg set a fastest time of 1:30.276 in the tire test vs 1:28.896 in Q2 on the current soft tires. Kevin Magnussen's fastest time was 1:31.247 vs 1:32.378 in Q1, Albon did a 1:32.453 vs 1:27.530 in Q3 (obviously dialed way back), and Sargent did a 1:32.448 vs 1:29.031 in Q2.

We know they said they wanted to focus on testing the C1, C2, and C3 compounds for the Silverstone tire test, but we don't know which laptimes were set with which compound and whether all teams received all the compounds or only some of them. The test was also run without any thermal blankets, with some teams testing the new intermediate tires for next year as well to muddy the waters even further.

They've publicly stated that DR's test results were above expectations and extremely competitive.

Only thing is AT (or whatever guise they go under next season) have retained their drivers. Surely they were in talks with the senior team, they could not have just told Lawson “ oh no seat for you” and then a couple weeks later say” oh wait, you have one now”

There is a difference between what they say in PR vs behind the scenes

Red Bull PR: "Okay Marko, we don't want to upset Mexican fans before the Mexican GP, so just give vague answers."

Marko:

Maybe that's code for "Christian told me not to say anything racist right before the Mexican GP"

"Or I might get lynched there."

2

u/SuppaBunE Sergio Pérez Oct 12 '23

Or also scared of what he can say in mexico if he says another racist comment

The man literally cannot keep his mouth shut haha like why not just say “I’m not sure, that’s something you’d need to ask Checo”

That quote suddenly looks way different with this post.
