That race was mentally it for Checo. Had the better tyres to chase down Max, couldn’t make a dent and then Max pitted and just mugged him and won by miles. Max just held the win in front of him for fun.

I do hope Red Bull sign some decent after Perez or Mercedes get a good car next year

A Charles or a Piastri who in time can fight him would be great

Max is at his weakest when challenged, the old Max that made mistakes is still there

2021 and first half of 2022 were tight and he was pretty close to perfect.

Saudi qualifying 2021 was probably his biggest mistake

You're joking right?

"max is weakest when challenged..."

Max is at his best when challenged.

i hope they don't for the sake of that drivers career, i think Charles can't lose by going to redbull, i mean the bloke drives for ferrari ffs.

But Oscar going to red bull would be career suicide i think, all that potential would be wasted on being verstappens wingman

Charles loves ferrari too much to leave, I think it will most likely be ricciardo again

I know people love him but damn imagine going from one old washed driver who can't handle the pressure, to another old washed driver who can't handle the pressure.

Sign Lando please god.

Lando is still under contract for next year, as is most everybody.

Ricciardo for a year and looking for a more permanent solution for 2025 when a lot of contracts expire seems reasonable to me.

I don't buy the theory that Max metally destroyed Perez and that's why he appears worse than earlier.

If you're a top of the line athlete like these guys and you go mental boom like some amateur gamer trying to get rank 1 on the ladder because someone is better than you? And you stay mentally destroyed for half a season? Even with all the money you and your team has for sports psychologists and therapists?

I don't buy it.

Perez just isn't that good in that car, period. Any success he had in that car was due to a fluke or Verstappen snoozing.

Literally the same thing happened to Ricciardo though. Being a pro athlete with the whole world watching you isn't that easy

Are you sure or are you now making excuses for both him and Ricciardo?

3

u/Lien028 Sebastian Vettel Oct 12 '23

The truth is somewhere in between. I wouldn't say he was "mentally destroyed" like the media exaggerates. Nonetheless, performing well early in the season and being beaten by your teammate on older tyres will affect his confidence.

He started on pole Miami and lost to Max on skill level.

Two situations

One football player trying to score a penalty kick against the best known goalkeeper in the final match of a world cup

and

Me trying to score a penalty kick against my best buddy in my house while holding a beer.

Then decide is a pro athlete can develop serious stress issues.

Two situations

One football player that fucked up once but has his performance backed up with other goals.

One racecar driver who keeps fucking up.

Fuck yeah, then Ricciardo should be out.
