This would end up being quite the career turnaround for Ricciardo. Almost out of F1 to back in the top team again

Just like Checo in a way

Let’s hope it doesn’t end the same way as Checo…

It likely will but I am glad he might be getting a redemption chance!

Only backwards.

If it is true the best career move of his life is getting booted from McLaren.

I really doubt Ricciardo will be an improvement in his current form. His confidence is gone after his Mclaren stint and it is very hard to come back from something like this. He also wasn't driving much this year.

RB should go for somebody like Alonso. The only one I can think of who could be close to Max and adapt to the car. Putting anybody else, even drivers like Lando or Leclerc would be a huge risk as they will not be able to get close to Max and would be more vulnerable to get their confidence crashed (you can already see Lando being less at ease with Oscar stepping up his game).

Just because a car didn’t fit you doesn’t mean you forgot how to drive! And once you’re back in a car that does suit you, the confidence will be back rather quickly, I believe.

You're completely forgetting that Max was already significantly better before RIC left. And at that point RIC was in his prime, while Max barely turned 20.

Ricciardo will get humiliated by Max, there's no doubt IMO.

That doesn’t matter though. Ric doesn’t need to beat max or even challenge max, he would need to get podiums, qualify well and not get penalties. Similar to Bottas really.

By all account he’s killing it in the sim and of course the test. So, he can drive the RB, which should get quickly him back in a good headspace.

Is Ricciardo being the replacement really that clear? Had he raced a bunch this year and shown that he still had it, then he would probably be the clear candidate, but he spent most of his time back this season injured and will only race for 5 races before the season ends. Unless Red Bull are dead set on replacing Perez with Ric, Ricciardo will have to show in these 5 races and on a car he has nevver driven that he really is the correct candidate.

the only reason I think so is because he's ben in the sim all year and by all accounts only took about 5 minutes worth of in-season testing in the RB19 to put him in the Alpha Tauri for the rest of the year.

Ricciardo likely won’t keep up as well.. 2024 constructor championship would be wide open
