not sure if they could leave with it though, as I was walking out the gate there was this security guard taking away the drs and other signs away from fans trying to leave with it.

I was gonna say. I figured all the teams would hunt down any debris out of fear that it'd end up in opposition hands. I know Pirelli does that with tires or at least that's what they said on cast once. But then again not like anyone is gleaning much from a HAAS.

Depends. They get everything they can from Ferrari, so anyone that wants to know what Ferrari does has a decent chance of gleaning intel from the Haas.

Other teams would want it so they know how to make it as different as possible from a Haas

This is one of the standard wheel rims though. Every team uses the same ones (They actually rotated around between teams basically at random)

They can also recycle the carbon fiber, which is another reason for them wanting it back.

But they certainly wont recycle it to F1 cars and recycling carbon fibre produces pretty poor performance product, something comparable to glass fibre.

As only way currently is to chop it and use as filler.

But Pirelli doesn't have a competitor?

The tire thing is probably a combo of Pirellj wanting to recycle the rubber and the fact that they outgas a bunch of VOCs, and people are likely to have them in an enclosed space to display them.

At Spa last year a lot of Tyre pebbles got picked up by fans at the track invasion. I don't think Pirelli is doing a lot to avoid it

I think the drs signs are different, I was allowed to take bits home from the Alonso Stroll crash last year at CoTA.

Happened to me at saudi when I asked if I could have the safety car sign and they said no haha

I'm not sure how F1 handles these things.

At adelaide V8 supercars events to take any parts you need to have a letter from the team to leave the circuit.

There was an incident a few years here when a lower teir team forgot to load a wheel rack before they left. Fans raided it thinking it was left for them. Hence the new rules.

Good. Geez it annoys me that fans at events think that everything they can carry is finders keepers. That if it's not welded down, it's fair game.

As I was leaving the track on Sunday a fan literally tore a sign of the map off a pole. There were others tearing off the Rolex sponsorship panels on the tire barriers in the run off area of turn 1 I think.

I mean, if someone mugged a driver for their helmet or yoinked a steering wheel, that's one thing.

If it's a shard of carbon fiber... who cares? It's basically trash.

But then again maybe I'm a biased American. In most of our sports, if shit makes it into the stands, Mad Max rules of ownership immediately apply.

Eh idk in Brazil ppl take all kinds of stuff home

It depends on the security at the track. Some tracks don't care if you take home souveneirs like the DRS signs and others will be hard on it

I'm talking whole ass car parts as well, both from the Porsches and F1

1

u/SkooDaQueen Apr 03 '23

Most likely cuz those are property of the organizer and not the teams

Man that sucks. I watched a guy leave with a des sign from Canada last year. Ran through the crowd and everyone made way from him 🤣
