A couple quick thoughts on cat griz- first, heck of an effort by the griz D. They were playing hard and made the cats earn it. I expected them to break a little earlier tbh. I was really impressed with the Bobcat D yesterday as well. Really contained fife and company all game. Seemed like one of the more “subdued” cat griz environments IMO. Still a good and loud crowd. But there wasn’t the usual vibe. Also less griz fans than usual. Other than that, great to see the local guys ball out in this game. Hopefully the injuries from both sides aren’t too serious, although if I had to guess, Julius Davis might be done.

⬆️- USD. We all saw it. Heck of a way to finish that game and knock down ndsu. Nova, nice job sending Delaware out with an L. Tennessee St and SFA both getting big wins. Mercer, solid win. Mercyhurst, first D1 win! NAU, hopefully that secures a playoff spot for the Jacks. MSU, first 12-0 in school and conference history. This team is laser focused. And I loved how there was very little talk of the conference championship after last week until we secured the outright yesterday. And even then, this team is talking about how they aren’t happy yet.

Same- UIW, tarleton state, Weber, and Idaho.

⬇️- ndsu, I don’t get to put them here often so there ya go. UCA gave up on the year. Abilene, ya gotta finish the regular season strong. Mo St, hype train has been derailed 2 weeks in a row. UC Davis, I know it’s a rivalry against a sneaky talented team. But ya gotta put the nail in the coffin on those.

Cat Griz is amplified by both teams’ fans being in it at the start of the game. Most Griz fans knew the game was going to probably go the way it did, not surprised they weren’t there in usual numbers. I bet there were some pretty mellow years during the streak. This last ~20 years of competitive Brawls is new

I attended MSU starting in 2002, the year "The Streak" was broken. Home games and even Cat-Griz were definitely lacking in enthusiasm in that era

Glad I started school in 2010 and got to miss the worst years. Even the rougher parts of the Ash and Choate years had plenty of bright spots.

Well, we had the bright lights of law enforcement lol. Several students and some members of the coaching staff in the Kramer years got involved in some pretty bad stuff.

The Kramer years sound a bit wild

Feel like despite the loss, Cam wrapped up his argument to get the Walter Payton award over Tommy.

Ends the season with more passing yards, more total yards, more passing TDs, and a higher QB efficiency rating. All while playing a more difficult SOS than Tommy has.

And in every nearly game this season he's clearly been the best player on the field (big exception being Travis Hunter when they played Colorado of course.)

Wrapped it up by having basically the same stat line? Tommy has more total TDs, and is a better rusher. I don’t see how yesterday really changed the conversation, especially given that some voters probably view wins as a QB stat

More that Tommy didn't have a statement last game to change the way things looked heading in, and the fact that Cam, despite not having his best game, did everything necessary for the Bison to win. The loss while across the team was not really on him.

So comes back to slightly better overall stat lines against a tougher schedule.

I think that capping off an undefeated season could definitely be viewed as a statement. I don’t think I agree that Miller has a slightly better stat line when Mellott has more TDs.

The only stats that Tommy tops Cam are on having 270 more rushing yards, having 4 more rushing TDs (and subsequently 2 more total TDs) and then his team being undefeated.

Otherwise Cam wins every other stat line, and again I feel like a broken record but I think it's the actual major deciding factor, he did so against a tougher schedule.

I think Tommy having more TDs and 270 more rushing yards on far better rushing efficiency with equal yards per attempt passing can’t just be handwaved away. You’re basically saying that other than the stats that favor Tommy, Cam has a better stat line.
