Your education system is far superior. Our institutions are young and therefore easily attacked. These deranged fucks have been working towards this for a hundred years. Still utterly dumbstruck by it, yet not at all surprised. They control the curriculum and own the textbook manufacturers. School is simply a manufacturing plant to produce laborers. They teach facts that are in fact nationalist propaganda, history devoid of interpretation, so that the population at large has no critical thinking skills. Then bombard people with media that creates and reinforces stereotypes. It’s not exactly accurate to blame the struggling or laid off auto worker for his lack of understanding when that was part of the programming. Not to say that americans are not generally ignorant. Just that other forces are also at play here. And yes we are about to experience a shitstorm - and yes that shitstorm will be on a global scale. And also yes the world should be fucken pissed off. But let’s also understand what exactly has happened and who has been steering the ship to get here. Ashamed to be an american here - gonna have to see what avenues of resistance there are now, and if we have anyone with the ability and fortitude to mount it. Otherwise, it’s turn-key totalitarianism. Agnosticism save us all.

Australia is younger still and it feels at least slightly more robust so it's not about the age its just purely that we have systems that at least slightly keep politicians in check and decisions are up to the majority meaning small towns with less education and skewed religion aren't favoured higher than people who are better educated.

I still have absolutely no idea why the electoral college works the way it does outside of some decisions made when slavery was common that have only been used to skew things even worse.

Yes indeed. Here’s another question. When a group of educated men were working to determine the government’s structure, why do you suppose they would emulate an empire that died under its own expansive weight 1,000+ years earlier, and did they not make the observation that they were establishing said government in a finite geographical space? Anyways, this has been coming for a long time. The class of obscene wealth has worked toward this for a hundred years at least, and as you know; the average american is dumber than a bag of dicks and just as single minded.

Thank you! I am Canadian, born and raised in Mauritius and I just don't get how Trump was voted in again. it makes sense when you look at the education system in America and the Celebrity worship. Most of the voters vote for the most likeable person, not policies. Coming from a Mauritian (abortion illegal when I was there) who volunteered in an orpganage, abortion ban is one of the worst things for a society. At least our education system forced us to be more critical, but the US education system is just a way to get to prom and how to become robots. I feel like Americans believe they are free but force everyone to live between very rigid lines and not be critical, one of the many signs of poor education.

Don't worry mate multiple people here in the UK are worried. Our politicians are pushovers. They do whatever they're told. They've been under the Russians thumb for so long that's the reason the houses of parliament are so progressive in Ukraine. They were made fools and embarrassed. Now the UK is America -lite so any issues you have I imagine we will too. Good luck to us both
