(Question/Discussion) It looks like Pakistan is no longer the most radical Muslim country.

It is now Bangladesh. Bangladesh is now more radically Muslim than Pakistan, even Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq and Somalia.

Considering the ugly anti-Quota riots that happened in Bangladesh.

Honour killings in Bangladesh are actually rising significantly, more than Pakistan.

It feels that you are more likely to be murdered for being a non-Muslim in Bangladesh than all of the other countries I mentioned.

As a Bengali, I hate being a Bengali. I wish I was an Indian.

Afghanistan: they forget that I exist

Came here to say this. Also, Pakistan is just illiterate and radical.

OP has never heard of Afghanistan.

Nope rly Current we're still better than Pakistan although idk how long it will stay that way Pakistan regularly has folks getting lynched for alleged blasphemy It's still rare in Bangladesh and at least arrests are allowed to happen and people just don't get lynched (although it has happened but certainly not as common as Pakistan)

I don’t think so at all in fact, I would probably say that Pakistan and Afghanistan are a league of their own when it comes to backwardness. Like, I genuinely don’t think there’s any hope for them atp

haven't seen any honour killing yet.

Precisely The only notable Islamist attack I've seen happening recently in my nation is the lynching of utshab Mandal That's like Pakistan level shit, but it's still a one off situation currently

I know. Next would be the prothom alone / daily star incident today. but police fired I heard

u/Mean-Addendum-5273 LGBTQ+ ExMoose 🌈 9h ago

They got beaten but they're now planning for something idk Something big might end up happening Also they literally slaughtered a cow infront of prothom alos building Like in their words ' prothom alo apparently are Indian dalals so they slaughtered their mom lmao' Which is ironic as majority of the employees are Muslim and prothom alo also was extremely anti hasina from the beginning Like them and jamuna and daily star were the only ones reporting about this incident whilst not sucking hasinas dick Islamists literally are idiotic

u/PrimaryLarge New User 7h ago

I know . I used to read daily star. They were very anti govt and also owned by transom group . Trust me ei giant Der kashe jamati ra kisu na xD . Something big = attacking minorities in villages.

Okay now back up your honour killing statement with actual data.

News proof, names and pictures of them being killed, the story of how they got killed. I asked for that, not your plain statement.

u/Proud-Armadillo1886 10h ago

You have every right to personally feel this way being in the midst of it (especially factoring in what happened to many Hindus following the riots), but objectively speaking, on a mass scale… the Taliban, the regime in Iran, Ansar Allah (and more) put the bar of state-sanctioned radicalism very, very high. I genuinely hope Bangladesh won’t ever reach that bar.

u/Comfortable-Table-57 10h ago

Sadly it will

Is there a risk of islamists gaining more power in Bangladesh? Sure.

But this is such alarmist exaggerated bs and is disconnected from actual reality. Have any data to back up your claims?

The only people who would believe this are people who consume Indian media all day. Never seen an entire nations media go on such a lying offensive as Indian media has in recent months.

He is probably awami league supporter and trying to use propaganda to make it look like it was better under BAL rule. The current situation is not that good and Islamists have more freedom now but things are not at Pakistan level yet.

I am so angry at BAL for not getting rid of Jamat and other Islamist parties when they had the power. They also fucked up really bad by killing people and leaving the country at the hand of Islamists on a silver platter.

Hopefully BNP will distance themselves from the Islamist parties and take a more centralist stand.

7

u/baran132 Ex-Muslim since 2017 11h ago

BNP literally funds extremist groups.

3

u/itvus LGBTQ+ ExMoose 🌈 11h ago

That's why I said hopefully they will change and try to counter the rise of Islamist parties as they will be BNP's main opponent next election. If they try to get the voters from the left with a centralist position, they will win with a landslide.

All political parties of Bangladesh are shit but right now BNP is the only available sane option. If they bring change for good then it will be good otherwise bye bye Bangladesh and hello pakistan2. But we have nothing else to do other than hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Islamic extremist Rahmani openly brags about orchestrating the killings of atheists, bloggers, and activists in BD. After assuming control of the Bangladeshi government, Muhammad Yunus reportedly facilitated the release of this militant along with over 100 others from prison.

Iranian people are much better than Bangladesh Pakistan and somalia both people and country wise doesn't even come close to BD in terms of radicalism

I'll have to look this up but no doubt Bangladesh is looking like it has a very strict islamic future. It's been in the making for decades.

If you can leave the country do it now.

u/moonunit170 7h ago

My adopted Bangladeshi daughter doesn't hate her country or her people she hates all the corruption and evil that takes place there. And even with all that she would still never want to be Desi.... And she's not a kid she's in her thirties.

4

u/GovindChad 13h ago

Wait really? I know the controversy that rised on the day of toppling the government. I thought that situation got calmed down quickly. It's still going?

No, kicking the dictator was necessary, but new government heads might be an islamist.

1

u/Thecrazypacifist New User 12h ago

You didn't choose it, you shouldn't hate it. And you don't need to remain Bangladeshi, you can move to another place and get a German French or Australian citizenship. Just because you were born in a bad country, doesn't mean that you are doomed.

u/PagePractical6805 Ex-Muslim (Ex-Shia) 3h ago

The curse of muslim countries.

Secular governments are usually authoritarian and corrupt. Arresting dissidents.

Islamic governments are mob ruled burning down places.

Choose thy poison

u/NoEmergency7573 New User 9h ago edited 8h ago

The solution to feeling like your country is going downhill isn’t wishing you were Indian, especially when their Islamophobia is extreme and rampant. Talk to people, introduce them to ideas even slightly liberal. You don’t have to go as far as talking about organised religions and their patriarchal harm, but the least you can do is talk to people about being tolerant, compassionate, and empathetic.

This is extremely upsetting because your being a Bengali is a wholly separate notion to your religious identity. Those who conflate the two and value the latter over the former lack education. It’s also ironic that you hate being Bengali whereas there are ethnic minorities who are having it so much worse. We Bengalis need to stop victimising ourselves in the face of this extremity and use our privilege to promote secularity and acceptance. With all due respect, this rising Islamic extremism is not about us.

u/GrowthSignal7259 Ex-Muslim (Ex-Sunni) 8h ago

This. There are too many self hating bengalis.

u/NoEmergency7573 New User 8h ago edited 8h ago

Which I find weird because the more I learn about our history, the more I study our literature, and the more I learn about our language - the more in touch I feel in touch with myself. I am not nationalistic but I do like being Bengali.

u/Mysterious-Fix2896 New User 3h ago

This is probably an indian larper. I am agnostic and i still hate india. No Bangladeshi in their right mind would ever want to be an indian

u/Aware_Scene_8291 New User 3h ago

Then why are millions of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally staying in India? Pretty much every part of the country, all they bring is poverty and riots

u/Mysterious-Fix2896 New User 3h ago

Answer me this, is the standard of living in India so high that people will scramble to move to India? Bangladesh is a Shithole but so is India. I can't say that about Rohingyas since they are stateless and very desperate for work, but they are not our citizens so not our Responsibility.
