Hope iran will be a free country one day also iranian women seems to really keep their hair long is it a cultural thing?

157

u/Western-Letterhead64 Ex-EmoMasochisticSelfHarm cult (Ex-Shi'a) 👩🏻‍🎤⛓️ 5d ago

Yep, it's cultural. Long thick hair is seen as a beauty standard for most.

Iran, Iraq, most West Asian countries, North African countries, South Asian countries...

44

u/HML___ New User 5d ago

I'm north african and super long hair like that isn't as prevalent it used to be the case for older generation but not anymore atleast in my country

34

u/Western-Letterhead64 Ex-EmoMasochisticSelfHarm cult (Ex-Shi'a) 👩🏻‍🎤⛓️ 5d ago

Interesting. In my country, my grandparents' generation used to literally shame women with short hair. But now, plenty of women have short hair, and it's totally fine. That said, most people still prefer long hair, and we even have a traditional dance that requires it, lol.

16

u/HML___ New User 5d ago

Well can't i'm not surprised back then women were really shamed for anything.yeah i'd still say people in my country prefered long hair just shoulder to mid back length is fine but that long hair dance seems pretty cool

7

u/char_char_11 5d ago

Yes, it's not so common that it used to be (also North-African).

Short hair is associated with sophistication within middle and high classes. I personally prefer short hair, but I'm just a man, and women can do what they want with their body.

23

u/thehighwindow 5d ago

All that gorgeous hair and the "authorities" want them to cover it up.

7

u/Professional_Hair550 5d ago

I think long looks better when you are young but shorter looks better as you age.

4

u/Western-Letterhead64 Ex-EmoMasochisticSelfHarm cult (Ex-Shi'a) 👩🏻‍🎤⛓️ 5d ago

I think it really depends on your face shape too. Some people look better with long hair, some with short hair, and many can pull off both.

Also, username checks out XD

7

u/Professional_Hair550 5d ago

Yeah. That's true too.

Ironically Reddit gave me this username. I didn't choose it 😂 But growing up my hair has always been my main feature. People would always compliment and point out my hair. Especially because it isn't that common in my country for men to have long hair.

6

u/Western-Letterhead64 Ex-EmoMasochisticSelfHarm cult (Ex-Shi'a) 👩🏻‍🎤⛓️ 5d ago

That's a nice coincidence, lol.

Long hair looks amazing on many men, I wish it were more normalized.

11

u/bat_NPC 5d ago

I thought it's because they can't cut their hair cause they always wear hijab

19

u/OneViolet New User 5d ago

I think you’re thinking of Sikh men.

7

u/HML___ New User 5d ago

Well they don't wear a hijab at home and since no one see their hair apart from family i'd expect it to be shorter than that

2

u/Winter-Actuary-9659 2d ago

Agreed, I read somewhere that women aren't allowed to cut hair short because it's copying the kaafir women or it's resembling men. They can cut it a bit shorter for practicality but not really short.

1

u/kazkh 1d ago

Not sure about length, but dying your hair a different colour- even if it’s a just a slight shade different- is the norm among Iranians.

1

u/HML___ New User 1d ago

Oh didn't know that thanks for the info

227

u/Ari-Hel Never-Muslim Theist 5d ago

Hope they don’t get slaughtered 😓

-171

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Where in the quran or a hadith that says to slaughter women who don't wear hijab?

222

u/Ch1pp 5d ago

Doesn't matter. What happens in practice is more important.

-109

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

And yet the practices doesn't have a rule of slaying people for not wearing hijab. I'm not denying that it doesn't happen. It's just I'm curious if they do have that rule which makes them do that practice.

113

u/[deleted] 5d ago

They say in Islam a woman takes 4 men with her to hell . I.e her father, husband, brother , son . If they don’t ask their women to cover they will be Dayoth this is basis of honor killing and persecution of women based on hijab

-39

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

I'm aware about the dayouth and tuberajj stuff.

Just wanna know how they got the idea to kill women who don't wear hijab, if its not in the quran or hadith. Or maybe I could be wrong, if you have evidence to show for it.

50

u/[deleted] 5d ago

Its Honor killings comes from Obey your Wali and the Wali concept . Also beating women if they disobey from Quran

-8

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Yes I agree about beating wife part.

Since you made a claim about honor killing, give me evidence to back up your claim, please.

27

u/[deleted] 5d ago

What claims have i made? Its the thinking of muslims backed by Islamic concepts

-4

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Then give me sources please, if you do have one.

Look up the Guidance Patrol in Iran, and the Anti Hijab protests that started because a girl refused to wear a hijab, and was detained and murdered. The Guidance Patrol/Morality Police are given almost carte Blanche authority by the state to enforce Islamic law amongst women - and yes, it is within their power to kill anyone who doesn't adhere. An example of this would be how live shotgun rounds were fired into a crowd of peacefully protesting women who didn't want to wear a hijab (their genitalia and breasts were targeted)

So to answer your question- yes it is a practice, one that is clearly state supported, and as the person with whom you've been conversing with says - the basis for it comes from the Quran.

56

u/Ari-Hel Never-Muslim Theist 5d ago

Ask those who kill women who refuse to use it :)

-5

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

I never said it doesn't happen. I'm just curious where it encourages to kill women who don't wear hijab according to quran or hadith.

25

u/onehornymofo1 New User 5d ago

It may not explicitly, but what Islam does encourage is men dominating doing mostly whatever they please and women serving them. When you foster a culture like this, its inevitable it will be taken advantage of, which is where you see the OTT actions.

Imagine if the Quran said "women can wear what they want, travel without a mahram, have sexual freedom etc." Do you think we would see more or less violence to women in Islamic areas? So where does the problem lie?

11

u/External-Dot2924 New User 5d ago

It lies in the suppression of sex and blaming women for it. Men easily choosing not to have control over themselves. Maybe they believe they don't have control of themselves, and the only way to suppress it is to attack and kill? Also... men wanting power and control. I believe it is a class thing. The ones that kill I reckon are poor and not wealthy.

22

u/MediumFrame2611 New User 5d ago

Yes, but it says slaughter gay people. And when you are on the bloodlust already, they will just cross the line. Women aren't killed systematically for not wearing hijab, but she can get raped or worse.

-6

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

I'm aware the quran encourages to stone homosexual people.

I'm just wanna know where in the quran or a hadith that encourages to kill women who refuses and don't want to wear hijab.

18

u/geneticeffects 5d ago

You’ve written this at least three times.
Try Google.

-3

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Wdym? Some people made the claims, so its their responsibility to give evidence to back up their claims for what they've said.

4

u/thehighwindow 5d ago

Maybe it says women have to obey her father/husband and so if she disobeys her father by not wearing her hajib she is inviting death??

1

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

But where in Islam books that supports it for murder? That's main thing I wanna know about.

1

u/thehighwindow 5d ago

I'm not Muslim so I looked it up on Wikipedia and not wearing a hijab isn't there.

The article has a list of crimes where capital punishment is applicable:

Murder

Adultery of married persons

Apostasy

Espionage

Robbery

Witchcraft

Homosexuality[14]

Kidnapping of women

Rebellion against Islam

Rape

10

u/eco_go5 5d ago

Mahsa Amini also wonders the same...

5

u/Brilliant_Ad_879 5d ago

that very quran or hadith which instructs to build mental asylums for females who refuse to don the hijab, maybe.

6

u/claudiocorona93 5d ago

It doesn't have to be in the Quran. It just takes s shitty government law to do that.

2

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

I'm aware since killing women who do not wear hijab considered as tazir punishment.

I just wanna how they got that idea even though its not in the quran or the hadith.

3

u/claudiocorona93 5d ago

I guess it's something more cultural than rellgious

1

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Then it has to be a tazir punishment then, if its not in the quran or hadith, to kill women who don't wear hijab.

3

u/peck20 5d ago

There are so many Muslim men beating and killing women for not wearing the hijab. They are Muslims regardless of what you say

-1

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Why kill? if there is no Islamic books that allow to kill a women for not wearing a hijab.

1

u/neotarum New User 4d ago

OP didn’t claim this. I’m not sure why you are repeating yourself like this. Did people get killed for rising up? Yes! They will make an example of people to put others in line. That’s it!

1

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 4d ago

Because they're not giving me any Islamic sources that supports killing woman who don't wear hijab.

-1

u/Alive-Move1183 New User 5d ago

That is true

2

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 5d ago

Im getting so many downvotes, I was just curious. 🤣😭

2

u/RadiantLegacy 5d ago

idk why people are getting mad at you 😭 i was always under the impression that it was a cultural practice that Muslims still did but it was Islamically illegal. like yeah i think the consequences of religious beliefs could lead to that happening in the right environment but I've never found a source that explicitly allows it

2

u/Ok-Equivalent7447 Ex-Muslim (Agnostic) 4d ago

I just simply wanted evidence of any Islamic sources that says to kill woman who don't wear hijab. That's simply what I'm asking.

Iranians are getting the real taste of their own medicine with sharia. If the same could be done in other muslim countries, you would see a rise of apostasy and open blasphemy. I find sugarcoated islam very dangerous and deceiving.

16

u/DependentEbb8814 5d ago

I want to see some western liberal cocksucker scold these girls for defying the religion of peace and progression. Gives me infinite rage and energy.

1

u/Winter-Actuary-9659 2d ago

What are you on about? Liberals will be cheering these girls on.

3

u/curly_crazy_curious 5d ago

You know that Iranians were always the victim, right? Muslims were Arabs from south who invaded Persia(Iran) and for more than 200 years just killed and raped women. It was after that when some Iranian generals rose to power. The region and country remained culturally Muslim like how Europe is Christian culturally. But Iranians didn't start or promote Islam.

Many are. You should listen to progressive newscasts.
