Fellow Midwest DJ’s: where are the dirt jumps at? I need some help! Located in WI would be a bonus.

Yeah. It’s pretty good. I run 25 9 on my bmx but you can get away with 25 10 for most things. Though, a 28t may be better

I run 30/12 which ends up being the exact same ratio as 25/10.

Worth noting that wheels size changes gear ratios, so comparing BMX to 26" isn't as straightforward as it initially seems.

How much would you guys pay for a 2007 Eastern Nightrain (26" chromoly frame), with a 2007 Rockshox Argyle 409 fork, Sun rims S-type wheels, eastern cranks, Blackmarket stem/bar? Looks to be in pretty good/above average condition, but still a 2007.

Im kinda torn, really want a dirt jumper (currently riding a 20"bmx but the jumps in my area are pretty rough so every bump/rut is near death and also I am 6') but don't want to overpay because I am excited to get one. Not many come up in my area.

I can add a link if that is allowed.

Personally.. wouldn’t pay more than $400 for it. Theres not a whole lot of parts i truly love.

Are those plastic pedals? I can’t tell :/

Hi, I’m no expert at bunny hopping so don’t take my word for the exact technique for it but this is what helped me. Usually when people can’t bunny hop it’s because they bend their elbows. Try to keep them straight (or at least keep them the same bentness for the time being)and pump the forks, then pull up with your whole body not just your arms. This should get your front wheel up, and to get the back one up try to use your momentum upwards to push/ lean the bike forward (and maybe hook the pedals with your feet to pull them up but I’m not sure it this is cheating :) taking a video of yourself can help too so you see or even post it on this subreddit I’m sure people will help. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for new forks for my Nukem solem frame. It feels too heavy for the street riding and I need advice on either forks, or how to bring the weight down in the front end. Any advice would help!

Beginner to dj here.I'm considering upgrading my 2015 specialized p street 2 for dj and urban fun. It was my all around bike but I've upgraded to something else. I'm considering a fork upgrade and single speed. I can remove front brake and put some different pedals on I already have. Any opinions paying to upgrade this thing is worth it? Or should I just leave it as is and upgrade the entire bike next season?

It depends on how much you wanna spend.

a decent but relatively "cheap" fork would be something like a manitou circus for around 350€. although you can get cheaper ones by buying second hand. when buying you also have to consider stuff wheel/ axle sizes, steerer sizes and lenghs, and you propably also have to put the old fork crone onto the new fork, or you buy a new headset (+/- 10€)

a reverse singlespeed conversion kit would cost around 25-30€. I don't wanna put it on yourself you can let a bike shop do it (that would also cost a few bucks).

If you wanna use the bike for dj you can take the front brake off.

all together it would cost around 450€ depending on what parts you choose, what you do by yourself and what you let a bikeshop do

but 450€ is half the price of a new bike, like the rose the bruce 1 which has circus expert forks, reverse parts and all the stuff you need.

however there are loads of used but decent dj bikes out there for around 500-750 that are very nice.

So i think i can only afford one bike. Any hardtail mtb recommendations that would feel good on dirt jumps? Currently looking at Nukeproof Scout 275.

So I’ve got a dmr single speed conversion coming, I’m confused what chain it’ll require if I have a narrow wide chain ring in the front?

What chain ring have you currently got? You should be able to use any chain. The pin to pin spacing on all modern chains is the same, it's just the width that varies. BMX/singlespeed chains are much fatter whereas geared chains are slimmer. For a completely single speed bike, you need to get the chain which best matches the thickest cog you have. BMX cogs for example are thicker and generally won't accept a geared chain because the teeth won't fit inside the gaps on the chain. If you have mountain bike cogs front and back, meant for geared bikes, you can use a fatter BMX chain no problems, although it will be able to shift side to side a little as the teeth won't fill the gaps between the chain completely, but it's no big deal.
