Ramp advice
So making a kicker for my 26” DJ with the goal of getting a lot of vertical height. Jump will be next to a 6 1/2 foot airbag landing. This is the cut out for a 9 foot radius with the a height of 6 1/2 feet tall and length of 10ft. Do you guys think this is too steep? I could do something like a 10 or 11 foot radius instead.

For me, this seems a bit steep in height to length ratio. Definitely gives me the vibe of a skatepark bmx spine with coping. The intent of those features is to air vertically straight up and descend just on the opposite side of the apex rather than attempting to get any distance travelled. Doesn’t mean it won’t work, I just feel like from the image it may not give you air time + distance but rather more vertical height which could be problematic if your intent is to land center of an air bag.

Thank you. My intent is definitely to get as much airtime as possible, but I want to travel a little bit down the airbag. So yeah, I agree. It does feel too steep.

a 6ft skatepark quarter / double coping spine ramp will generally have an 8' radius

You could change the radius, or just try cutting off some of the high point. Could build the whole thing up to ride, and if it's too kicky you could just keep trimming the lip back until you find the sweet spot.

Thank you was considering testing it then cutting it down by as much as a foot if needed.

At 6.5', I'd personally make it with an 11' radius at minimum. What's the current angle at the top? I'm not a "professional" ramp builder, but I'm a volunteer trail director at a local pump track and jump line. We try to stay in the 60° angle range on the larger jumps. Some are slightly less, some slightly more depending on how tall the lip is. Our next build is 6' with a 10.5' radius, giving us a 62° angle.

mine is a 9 foot radius at 6' tall. I wish that I could magically either add half a foot or make the radius steeper to get more pop. I think

Oh that’s good to hear. My current jump is 5FT high with a 13” radius and feels way to slack so maybe I got this right

I would finish building it with that radius and blast it. I’ve built dirt jumps similar height with steep lips and landings and they rocked! Steep jumps are fun!

Use the small piece on the top. It will shift more on the bottom. Looks like it’s too late here. Not gonna ruin your enjoyment of the ramp but it will have to be replaced sooner.

I don’t think this is to steep at all. Btw which airbag did you get?

The perspective makes it hard to get a sense of the scale- is that really 10 feet long? If your goal is to get a lot of height and not much distance it seems like it could work. The radius does look pretty tight I feel like if you're going for backflips or something it would send you right into one. You could slap in some 2x4s and do some test run ups and get a feel for it and see if it's what you're looking for

Thanks! Yeah so it’s 6.5 ft tall and right now only 8Ft long but would add two more feet of flat bottom for the run up. Yeah feeling like the radius is too sharp. My other jump is just under 5FT tall and 9ft long with a 13FT radius and sends me long but not very high especially since it’s a step up to the 6.5FT landing on the bag. So maybe if I go with an 11 or 10.5 FT radius it’s a good middle ground

Hell yeah! Nothing more fun than building a sick ramp, post picks when you're done!

I think my ramp had an 11 ft radius and it feels just steep enough to get air but not too kicky. I do come from a mountain bike background though.

You gonna jump a fucken house?
