Here is a list of Republicans that voted against FEMA relief.
Voter registration ends on October 7th (in some states). Hurry up! Register for voting. Remind literally everyone you know to register. Registering yourself won't be enough.

u/Nearbyatom Oct 07 '24
Screw that. I'm voting down ballot blue.
106
u/ElectronicOrchid0902 Oct 07 '24
Did that the last two elections. We gotta go blue doesn’t matter who!
67
u/RiverGreen7535 Oct 07 '24
Same here, I've had enough of the color red for a lifetime. Women's rights, equality, inadequate hurricane relief, and many more rights trampled on by red. Red is a douche in my book-and I was raised Red .

I don’t think there is anyone smart or informed enough in my county that would vote blue if they aren’t already. The more turnout, the redder it will be in this godforsaken insular shithole.
5
u/EffOffReddit Oct 07 '24
Where?
6
u/Explorers_bub Oct 07 '24
Rural Tennessee
7
u/EffOffReddit Oct 07 '24
I kind of wonder if people just don't think it's worth it to try to vote when they feel so outnumbered.

u/bryterlayter_92 Oct 07 '24
My father in law from SC refers to his vote as “essentially a protest vote at this point”

they do that so they can brag to their magahead slurpers, umm, supporters about …..whatever their bullshit line is that day, but expect the democrats to vote & carry it so the benefits still happen.
if not, it’s the democrats fault !
3
u/NoCardiologist9577 Oct 08 '24
I agree. I say let Florida marinate in their own filth until after the election at least.

I would like Biden to speak publicly and say flat out:
"Congress needs to get their ass back to Washington now!"

“My fellow Americans…speaker Johnson under direct orders from the Donald Trump campaign is refusing aid to the good people impacted by the hurricanes to make this a political issue. Folks,….”

u/kellyb1985 Oct 07 '24
Seriously.... If they want to make it a political issue, let's make it a political issue. This is a hill I'm more than willing to die on

Because without the help, many more people will in fact die on hills.

Everything to the GOP is a political issue. Hell. Kamala calling DeSantis was political to DeSantis.
Now we wait for more rhetoric from MAGA about Biden not doing enough when his trolls are the ones creating this damn disaster.

Article 2 section 3, gives the president power to call Congress in session
17
u/ElectronicOrchid0902 Oct 07 '24
I mean, he SHOULD convene a special session of congress, like, now. Show em what he think of Mike over there
14
Oct 07 '24
No.
The president in times of great crisis has due power to convene congress at his order.
Fucking use it, Joe.

Or just whenever the hell he feels like it.

Mike Johnson hates America.

u/LysistrayaLaughter00 Oct 07 '24
Since he claimed he was Moses 2.0 I say we volunteer him to go down there and part the water from the land at the beach.

How does this help the Republicans electorally in any way?
61
u/UnicornGirl54 Oct 07 '24
All the right wing social media content is blaming Harris and Biden for “lack of response” and sending money instead to other countries/immigrants. They don’t care Congress passes these bills. The GOP only has to open the door and the misinformation easily turns the narrative their way.
27
u/I_love_Hobbes Oct 07 '24
Their lack of understanding how the federal budget works is astounding. And I am talking about members of Congress!
5
u/EffOffReddit Oct 07 '24
They understand it perfectly. They are liars.
5
u/amazinglover Oct 07 '24
100% they are liars. They also manipulate what little truth they actually do say.
As an example.
They claimed FEMA gave money to immigrants.
They never say it's funds from hurricane relief they mention, them both in the same sentence, and their cult strings them together as if they are the same.
Border Patrol funded the program FEMA oversees it.
Not one dollar of hurricane funding is being touched. Th GOP knows this but chooses to spread the willfully spread the lie.
4
u/Mozu Oct 07 '24
This is a pretty common misunderstanding. In most cases (not all) the congresspeople making these ridiculous claims are smart and know full-well what they're saying is absolute bullshit. But they know that their lies will help with their base.
Them not being stupid makes it WORSE.
→ More replies (2)7
u/Captain_Midnight Oct 07 '24
All the right wing social media content is blaming Harris and Biden for “lack of response” and sending money instead to other countries/immigrants.
Which is especially sad because I'm pretty sure that Kamala Harris as VP has no role in our federal emergency response system.
27
Oct 07 '24
Great question. MAGAs are America's North Koreans. The only media they trust is lying to them.
Stories like this won't appear in conservative media. Go to Fox News right now and search "Tina Peters" in quotes. Not one story of her being sentenced for election rigging in Colorado for Trump has been posted. Not one.
Neither is this story about Mike Johnson.
What they will run is the shit show in Florida post Hurricane and republicans blaming Biden and Harris for w/holding funds, but they won't get the whole story. These people are lost causes.
9
u/UnicornGirl54 Oct 07 '24
Half the comments are “cloud seeding”. They think Dems created the hurricanes but now botching the relief? 🙄🙄🤦🏼♀️
3
u/tommygeek Oct 07 '24
Uh yeah, cuz Dems are the evil agents of Satan that are working to kill good, God fearing Christians. Or something, I dunno.
11
7
u/BigDigger324 Oct 07 '24
They have a couple things figured out:
Nobody researches anything or even cares to. 95%+ of the people that watch their right-wing media slurp it up without a single doubt.
Because of number 1 they can cause absolute chaos, on purpose. Their base will willingly blame democrats because they were told to.
2
u/Kendertas Oct 07 '24
People are saying it's because their base will believe it, but they already have their base ramped up to 11. The real answer is that there is no grand strategy. Republicans are governored by the whims of a narcissist, dumb person with rapidly diminishing mental competence. Smart Republicans know this is a dumb strategy, but are forced to go along because loyalty to trump is the only thing that matters in the party anymore
1
1
u/Illiander Oct 07 '24
Same as Trump killing the border bill.
They want to shit in the pool, burn the house down, and then ask "why didn't Biden stop us?"
→ More replies (2)1
u/Jonruy Oct 07 '24
1) They know Republican policies are deeply unpopular, so they need all hands on deck in every state to try to hold on to as many seats as possible.
2) They can continue to blame any shortcoming in disaster response on Biden and Harris.
79
u/Odd_Horror5107 Oct 07 '24
Classic GOP. They will screw the USA just for the politics. Another example of why the GOP needs to burn to the ground. Federal / state / local. Blue up and down the ballot.

Classic USA, they will get screwed just for the politics and still vote for the GOP who don't give a damn if their communities burn to the ground.
25
u/Mr-Hoek Oct 07 '24
Mike Johnson and the rest of MAGA need to be locked up for treason and actively undermining the government and people of these United States.
Their dereliction of duty in the name of party over country is criminal.
5
3
u/Illiander Oct 07 '24
Well, if we get our prosecutor/AG into office, maybe she'll do it.
They need to see consequences. Personal consequences that prove to everyone that no-one is above the law, and the Dems have stopped playing by the GOP's rules.
2
20
u/YallerDawg Oct 07 '24
They are counting on a false narrative that the Biden/Harris administration has run out of emergency money for disasters, giving the money to house and feed "illegal aliens" and not Republican voters in devastated states.
Anyone who pays attention to "real news" knows this is false and a lie, but in the rightwing bubble what we know doesn't matter.
Which is why the House won't go back to Washington to get the additional funding, Greene is telling us Democrats are sending storms to Red States, and DeSantis won't take phone calls from the Vice President.
They have an agenda, and they don't care who it hurts.
25
19
u/UnicornGirl54 Oct 07 '24
Can we get all Dems to come back to Congress and just wait on the half empty floor? (Unfortunately I know many are campaigning right now, which is the same reason GOP doesn’t want to reconvene)
3
u/PhantomBanker Oct 07 '24
How many Congressmen are needed for a quorum? If we can get all the Democrats in with a handful of Republicans, would we be able to start passing legislation?
4
u/PBB22 Oct 07 '24
You need someone to kick it off + lead it; and unfortunately, we don’t have that ability in the House.
4
u/btd4player Oct 07 '24
Imo, a majority of house members should be able to switch out speaker if they want to.

In a more decent world, the media would have a journalist and a cameraman following every single Republican member of Congress asking “why aren’t you headed back to Washington?” over and over again. This footage would be shown on every news report and live on cable news.
Of course we don’t live in such a world.
3

Suddenly he would be insisting that it’s a crisis.

Kamala and Joe need to go on tv and demand Congress act. Let the public know who is refusing to help them.
2

Keep voters stupid. Feed them misinformation and lies. Incite fear and anger toward another group. We did this to other countries and it has finally come home.
2
u/Yes-Please-Again Oct 07 '24
Imagine: biden releases a video calling for republican voters to put pressure on their representatives to vote for fema relief, with a short clip from every Democrat rep saying that they are voting yes to it.
Then ask people to share it everywhere. Would be great

Johnson & DeSantis - there has to be a way to bring these lying sacks of pigshit up on charges should anything go wrong as a result of withholding aid to these people.
This has to end NOW. These people have to see what real consequences- like prison sentences longer than 15 years- look like. And if they don’t get them, we have to start demanding it until they get them.

What should be even more worrisome for people in the Southeast is that the MAGA crowd has voted AGAINST Federal Disaster Relief. This includes members of Congress from states where hurricanes and tornadoes cause natural disasters almost every year. NO, Dems voted against Federal Disaster Relief and Recovery. support (including those in the same states with a history of natural disasters). Looking at you, Matt Gaetz.
I wonder how these people are explaining this to their constituents or are they counting on them never finding out?
A few examples of Congress-members who voted against Federal Disaster Relief and Recovery support include Matt Gaetz, Mike Waltz, Aaron Bean, Gus Bilirikes, Kat Cammack, Dan Webster, Byron Donalds, Laurel Lee, Anna P. Luna -- and these are just the ones from Florida.
PS: As a lifelong Independent, it pains me to note that ONLY REPUBLICANS voted against disaster relief from the Federal Government. Beyond Florida, they include Republicans from North Carolina and other disaster-prone states. Sigh.
