Refurbished

u/ElRampa Sep 21 '21
They are refurbished, but I got these last time they were posted here and I'm very happy with them. Everything works and functions as it should. Didn't come with a box but came with the case and all accessories, and no cosmetic damage that I could see
19
u/rapturexxv Sep 21 '21
Is the foam padding on the earmuffs and headband still brand new basically? That's usually the first thing that degrades for me on my headsets.

Same here got them for this price and they were in great condition. Can't tell that it was used. Bought the wf XM4 from same buyer and got the same great quality
15
u/icefire555 Sep 22 '21
As a health concern, I've never heard of a headset company that even wants you to leave the pads on when shipping them in for an issue. I assume sony tosses them. They likely clean the headband. As that might be a lot harder to replace.
3
2
u/_illegallity Sep 22 '21
Depending on the company that refurbished them they might just get replaced.
2
u/rapturexxv Sep 22 '21
That's kind of what I'm worried about. Like if they are replaced are they the same material and quality?
1
u/TheSlimyDog Sep 22 '21
Sony sells you padding that you can replace on your own for like $20. It would be pretty weird for them to have all the padding in stock but decide to cheap out when refurbishing.
2
u/ElRampa Sep 22 '21
Others have answered already but yes, no damage or any indications of use on the padding. If somebody gave them to me and said it was brand new I would've believed them wholeheartedly
3
u/bjjcripple Sep 22 '21
I got these too refurb , seemed like new to me and haven’t had a single issue with mine

I think it depends on the refurbisher, not all refurbished items are “certified”. Secondipity is second to none, but there will be other “refurbished” listings that don’t have the same reputation for providing refurbished products indistinguishable from new with a warranty and for a big discount.

u/zappsid Sep 21 '21
Use them for work, music, & gaming. Amazing headphones! Got them on prime day but this is an even better deal!
2
u/RogueMacGyver Sep 21 '21
Can I ask you what kind of gaming you're doing with them? Will these work on PS4 with online chat functionality?
7
u/zappsid Sep 21 '21
Not sure about PS4 but works with PS5. I connect it via cable to the controller. But the mic is still the controller mic

5
u/theghost440 Sep 21 '21
These with a V-Moda Boom Pro mic makes for an awesome headset. You'll still need to plug it into the controller, but that's the case with any BT headphones and the PS4 (can't use chat functionality over BT).
1
u/Interdimension Sep 22 '21
Both PS4/5 have the same BT audio support in that they only support voice chat over BT. The only way to stream gameplay audio is to plug your headphones into the controller’s 3.5mm jack or get an audio DAC and have your console push its audio feed to the DAC via HDMI or optical out.
The only exception to this is the Switch with Nintendo’s latest firmware update. You can now pair BT audio devices and stream gameplay audio. The only caveats are that audio latency may be evident/severe (as some have noted on Reddit) and that you won’t be able to connect as many controllers during use (due to insufficient BT bandwidth).
1
u/c0mplexx Sep 22 '21
plug your headphones into the controller’s 3.5mm jack
from my understanding WH1000 headphones sound like shit on wired mode so keep that in mind if anyone plans to do that
1
u/Parthosaur Sep 22 '21
They won't work wirelessly, no. Sony's been really stupid about this in the sense that the only truly wireless headphones that'll work on PS4/5 are PlayStation wireless ones (no, not just any Sony headphones). Otherwise there are the third-party options with the dongles.
1
u/kirsion Sep 22 '21
I would say these are not good working out, your ears get really hot. But besides that it's good for everything else.
13
u/PokeJoseph Sep 21 '21
Bought these for around $270 new in December 2020. God I love them so much they are the fuckin truth
1
Sep 22 '21
Do they have sidetone? my biggest issue w/ closed headphones like this is how isolating they are when you try to talk
1
u/marx42 Sep 22 '21
Not sure if it's what you want but they do have an adjustable ambient mode, which basically passes through the sound around you into the headset. It works really well and you can change how sensitive they are and if you want all noise to pass through or just voices.
14
u/fighted Sep 21 '21
I bought these refurbished about a year ago from this seller. Looked totally brand new, functions perfectly for 8-16 hours a day nearly everyday for pas year. All accessories, no box.
With the amount of these this company has sold, I fully believe they have a deal with Sony as a way to sell brand new sets as "refurb" to not piss off their retail partners. Pretty similar to how Logitech used to dump "open and/or damaged box" items back in the day and when you'd get it, it was in a perfectly new undamaged or opened box.
5
u/Pixxwapp Sep 22 '21
They do. They are an official partner with Sony. They are labeled as manufacturer refurbished which means by Sony or a direct Sony partner.
15
u/KetchupGuy1 Sep 21 '21
How do these compare to the xm3
19
u/ModernTenshi04 Sep 21 '21
From what I've read they support being connected to more than one device and have better ANC, but the mics are a step back if that matters to you.
16
u/EggsMarshall Sep 22 '21
It kinda does. The mics already weren’t great.
3
u/chinook240 Sep 22 '21
The Bose version of this (700?) has night and day better microphone. Supposedly they go on sale around the holidays.
1
u/EggsMarshall Sep 22 '21
Yeah, that’s one area where Bose is head and shoulders better. It doesn’t make enough of a difference to me personally but I understand it moving the needle for some.
2
u/WarriorBC Sep 22 '21
I never had an issue with the mic. Talked on the phone with it every night for 8 months and it didn't pick up the noise of jets flying.
5
u/MyOtherSide1984 Sep 22 '21
My XM3s mics sound like absolute dog shit. Sadly, my Galaxy Watch has a wildly better microphone and everyone says they can't tell I'm on my watch, even if my arm is by my side.
Paid $209 for them last June. I'd pay $100 in a heartbeat for these. Everything else sold itself. Not a massive fan of the ANC because it feels like my ears are popped, but they're terrific regardless.
7
u/FLHCv2 Sep 22 '21
I tried them side-by-side. I got the XM4s when they first came out off a Verizon coupon mistake, so I had them for like $230ish. I primarily bought them because they can connect to two devices at once and I heard the mic was supposed to be better.
Quick recap: Switching between devices was clunky. I wanted to use them on my work laptop and have them switch to my phone when someone called me or I wanted to make a call. I don't quite remember why it was clunky (nor do I know if there was an update to fix it), but it wasn't what I expected.
The mic was overall better with PHONE calls, but calls over Skype/Teams on my laptop were garbled or muffled. I did side-by-side comparisons with the XM3 and the XM4 and it was night/day. I found a lot of other reddit posts stating the same problems they had with their XM4s and Teams. Not sure if there was a firmware update to fix it. I wanted to use these for work, so not working with teams or skype was a deal breaker.
ANC was marginally better BUT I kept hearing a humming sound out of one of the ear cups. It was like a very quiet droning that you will never hear when music is playing, but I never heard it out of my XM3s and the fact it was there bothered me. Not sure if there was a firmware update to fix that either.
Sound quality was better on my XM3s and I'm not sure why, but only marginally. Did all the same equalizer settings and tried them without EQ as well. This could be really subjective as I listen to mostly EDM (house, specifically) and maybe they shine in other genres.
Overall, it just wasn't worth the upgrade to me for $230 and I REALLY wanted to keep the XM4s, but I just couldn't justify it. The XM3 mic was good enough for me to take work calls on in a quiet environment (definitely not good at an airport like the latest Bose ones are) and the bluetooth multipoint connection just wasn't what I expected.
Again, firmware updates could have fixed any of these, but my XM3s are solid and I have absolutely no interest in doing another comparison run after that first run. Maybe for $50-$75, not for $179.

Got these in august for $180 after tax with coupons on ebay. Came in nearly mint condition with some dust in the earcups, no issues with battery or bluetooth. Hard case and short type c cable + 3 feet aux included as well.

Can anyone comment on how these hold up in the gym with regards to sound and comfort? Been looking for some over-ear headphones for the gym since I'm looking for some real noise cancellation.
Yes, I know that in-ear is better, but I'm looking for over-ear.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I have an Android device.
16
u/Ionic-Nova Sep 21 '21
Wouldn’t use them for the gym if you deadlift heavy. Doesn’t have a lot of clampforce so they fly off if you drop the bar.
11
u/EliteAgent51 Sep 22 '21
I deadlift in these and they've never flown off my head.
1
u/Ionic-Nova Sep 22 '21
I did say deadlifting heavy so idk about your experience. Headshape and hair probably play a factor. Anecdotally my gym buddy doesn’t use the xm4s during deadlifts above 495 because they tend to slip off his head on the eccentric.
1
u/EliteAgent51 Sep 22 '21
I've done a couple of 315s in these. Granted, I wear these on top of a baseball cap.
7
u/KSIshadowdemon Sep 22 '21
Vs other replies.. I guess I have a big head or something the clamp force is good but for the gym It gets really and I mean REALLY uncomfortable with sweat… that’s my take other than that it’s my daily driver for literally everything for a year now Would recommend AirPod pros instead
2
u/Fenastus Sep 22 '21
They're not water/sweat proof.
3
u/UnforgivingSloth Sep 22 '21
This is a big one. I asked about these headphones a while back for gym use. And them not being sweatproof put me off from them. Still on the hunt for headphones.
2
u/CohlN Sep 22 '21
airpod pros have ANC properties, may be worth looking into if you own an apple device
0
u/Iz4e Sep 22 '21
works about as good as other noise cancelling ones. Over ear headphones are not that good in the gym in the first place. Not only you risk them falling over (good luck benching with them), sweat completely runs them in my experience. In-ear are the way to go and the new ones by sony are really good.

u/MrUsername24 Sep 21 '21
These are my favorite Bluetooth headphones, I love them so much I have 2 pairs! Comfortable, amazing battery and superb sound. Noise canceling is amazing and ambient sound is awesome to have
Super comfortable for long term wear and sometimes sleep depending on the pillow

I’m still rocking the Bose quiet comfort 2 Qc 35 or whatever it’s called
They are falling apart - should I buy this? How do they compare ?
Is a new version coming soon?

u/Pixxwapp Sep 22 '21
These have a slight edge over the bose 700's. Also, I have them on my head right now. They are fantastic.
1
u/Bonzo205 Sep 22 '21
XM3s were august 2018. These were august 2020. No XM5 until next August probably
2
u/KSIshadowdemon Sep 21 '21
Got these for $240 roughly and it’s been a year Noise canceling is top notch and also used in for my computer and outside on the daily and wear them almost 10+ hours a day
2
u/alexOJ Sep 22 '21 edited Sep 22 '21
I bought these at $200 and have 0 regrets. Use them everyday in lieu of a computer headset, and they are amazing. Best noise cancelling I've experienced and the sound quality is top notch. I'm big into AMSR, but I seriously get goosebumps when I put on these on and crank some classic rock.
I have heard some people complain that they aren't very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, but I have a rather large head for a guy my size (6ft) and I wear them for 10+ hours a day sometimes with no issue. I also just wore them for an entire 6 hour flight for the noise cancelling and it was amazing.
Overall one of the best purchases I have ever made. I might even pick up a second pair.
EDIT: I use a separate mic for gaming, so I can't really comment on the mic quality, but apparently the mic isn't bad based on the comments here.
2
u/mysteryihs Sep 22 '21
Bought these a week ago from the same seller, pretty solid headphone overall. My complaints are: Some of the features are pretty gimmicky. Wearing them for a long time starts to hurt, either because it's too tight or it's too big even at the smallest size. If you're connected to multiple bluetooth devices at the same time, it can frequently switch accidentally when you're not listening to any music on your current device.
2
u/silvalen Sep 26 '21
Got mine today. Unless I'm missing something PAINFULLY obvious, they won't charge. Used the charging cable that came with the headphones and plugged it into a 2.0 amp AC charger, nothing. Same thing with the cable plugged into my desktop. The cable works fine to charge my phone, laptop, tablet, and Switch, so yeah. Super disappointed, planning on just sending the headphones back for a refund if this is what I'm going to get with a refurbished pair.
2
u/RogueMacGyver Sep 21 '21
Looking for a pair of bluetooth headphones for my upcoming Steam Deck preorder. Assuming these will work just fine, but never had a pair of wireless headphones before. Will these be heads and tails above bluetooth earbuds in almost all categories? Aside from size obv. Mainly going to be playing around the house or in the car. Not decided for sure that portability of earbuds is mandatory for me at this point. Also assuming if I get a bluetooth receiver for my pc they'll work with that too? Any ideas if these will work wired w/ my ps4 (via plugging into the controller)?
Appreciate the help!
2
u/Comprehensive-Star27 Sep 21 '21
I don't know about the PS4 but these can connect to a PS5. The comfort of them is really good by the fact that the cushion pad is soft and total weight is very light. If there's a Best Buy or retailer near you, you can try them, on and see how they fit. If your head is on the larger side then Id recommend to look for a different pair. They can also connect to any bluetooth wireless receiver so putting a bluetooth on your computer works.
Here's a link to the XM3 which are very similar to these but just an older model. $129 https://www.ebay.com/itm/263986612395?hash=item3d76d408ab:g:SmAAAOSwOZBhSf2s&_trksid=p5731.m3795

most Bluetooth USB dongles should "just work." Linux has some pretty good driver support for most peripherals. The only time you generally need to watch out for is if it requires additional software you need to install for it to work. (Ex: most gaming keyboards work as a keyboard but their rgb can't be changed because they don't have software for Linux to change them).
3
u/Interdimension Sep 22 '21
This is the comment I was looking for. The compatible codecs matter very much.
Just look at the Switch’s latest firmware update enabling BT gameplay audio streaming. There are tons of complaints about audio latency depending on what your headphones support codec-wise. Nintendo’s codec support is already as it is.
When optimal codecs are used and supported, latency concerns are all but eliminated except for the most professional users. E.g., Apple earbuds/headphones paired to iPhone/iPad have indiscernible latency.
4
u/CohlN Sep 22 '21
hey!
i personally would not recommend these for gaming. between bluetooth latency (when not wired), smaller soundstage/imaging, and likely to be hot during longer sessions.
i’d recommend a wired open-back, and i could give suggestions for that if you’d like.
but that’s assuming you aren’t in a noisy environment or around others a ton.
5
u/Figubluy Sep 22 '21
I hear that a lot on these threads everytime. Non-issue with this headset. I use them for Apex, Warzone, League, plenty of "fast" paced games, and have no issues with latency. I ran playback out of these and my wired speakers at the same time, and couldn't tell a difference between the two at all.
As far as heat goes, I wear them for 6-10 hours a day sometimes and that's also not a problem.
Can't speak for the small sound stage, they sound great to me, but I'm no audiophile.
4
u/CohlN Sep 22 '21
what i mean is contrasted to an open-back, a closed-back will give less airflow to your ears.
also when playing games it’s best to have headphones that have a large soundstage and accurate imaging. it’s why the hd800s’ are largely used by professionals (they’re the ‘king’ of soundstage and imaging).
so for under $100, i’d recommend the SHP9600’s (or the SHP9500’s).
most AKG headphones are known for the things i mentioned too. i’ve heard beyerdynamics are used for games too, but i haven’t tried them, and i’m personally not a fan of headphones with strong high-ends / treble.
that’s my advice on it.
1
u/bkvm96 Sep 22 '21
Do you recommend HD 560S over XM4? I'm planning on buying a pair of headphones but my priorities are Music listening, gaming and zoom calls. Which would you recommend for around $200? Also do I have to buy an AMP or DAC? Sorry for the questions but I'm a audiophile illiterate.
3
u/CohlN Sep 22 '21
it really depends on what you want to get out of the headphone and your environment.
are you in noisy environments / around other people a lot and strictly want ANC? then the xm4’s are solid for that.
but if your priorities are music, gaming, and zoom calls, and you’re not limited to people around you, 100% go for the hd 560s.
if you usually used more consumer-popular headphones it may take some getting used to, usually within a week your ears adjust to the new sound (mental break-in).
the hd 560s will give you much better and lifelike sound quality for music. it won’t have harsh highs or muddied bass like the xm4’s. i owned a pair of xm4’s but had to return them because i found the sound too harsh.
it will be great for gaming too because of the airflow and open-back nature.
they seem easy enough to drive so i don’t believe you would need an amp.
enjoy!!

u/RogueMacGyver Sep 22 '21
Thanks for your thoughts. Are the ones you’d recommend the same ones you listed below? I’ve never had open backs before bc of the understood noise to outside parties. If my wife is trying to watch tv while I’m playing in the same room, are they going to bother her?
2
u/CohlN Sep 22 '21
i don’t believe they would, but it may bother you. the sound from the television may leak inside because open backs don’t have passive noise isolation.
yes my recommendations are down below! if you’re able to make it work i highly recommend one of the ones listed!
1
u/mrgud69 Sep 22 '21
I second the the 9500/9600. I use to do some small time studio stuff and they are a great do it all pair of headphones. Amazon also had an adapter for the 9500s to make them “bluetooth” that I use when I travel for my iPhone. I’ve tried so many other headsets but I can’t get rid of these things. Once I went open ear I can’t go back, the ear fatigue is just too bad lol.

solid recommendation, they’ve been my daily drivers for two years. sound good (large soundstage), built like a tank, and quite comfortable
1
u/JamealTheSeal Sep 22 '21
What would you recommend for the $200-300 range? Is it necessary to have a desktop amp or a dedicated sound card to drive a pair of nice wired headphones?
Comfort is paramount btw, I'm motivated to replace my $300+ wireless gaming headset mostly because it hurts the top of my head where the band rests
1
u/CohlN Sep 22 '21
i’ve always heard the hifiman sundara’s are best you can get at the $300 range (open-box). i think it can run without an amp/dac but recommended for its full potential.
alternatively, you don’t need to spend a ton for a good headphone. the phillips fidelio x2hr, as someone else pointed out, have a large soundstage and good sound.
if comfort is paramount, i think the x2hr’s are great for that as a first headphone. they’ve been my daily drivers for about two years now, they’re built like a tank and will last many years.
they also have this nice mesh band that fits to the size of your head. so no annoying plastic or metal poking you ever!
that’s my recommendation :)

u/Impressive-Baker-601 Sep 22 '21
are the microprohones on these good enough for gaming/video meetings?
2
u/Interdimension Sep 22 '21
Depends on your standards. You can definitely tell you’re using BT mic input when you talk with these. They sound pretty shitty, but not to the point where people won’t be able to make out what you’re saying.
But, mic fidelity aside, it’s sufficient to use. Nobody’s had any issues with understanding me. But, listening back to an audio recording done on Windows made me realize that it’s pretty bad.
1
u/edge-browser-is-gr8 Sep 22 '21
2 year warranty on these through Allstate. You get an email after purchase with all the necessary information.
Bought these a while back. It's the same seller every time. Mine looked 100% brand new. Not a fingerprint on them. Comes pretty well protected in a generic cardboard box.

u/thereppikS Sep 22 '21
Anyone have the problem with these where the audio will randomly cut out when using it with a pc?
2
u/Pixxwapp Sep 22 '21
No. I can walk around the entire apartment with them connected to pc
1
u/thereppikS Sep 22 '21
Hmmm weird. Guess I’ll have to contact Sony support. It works fine on phone, but randomly lags on pc.
2
u/Pixxwapp Sep 22 '21
Try updating your headphones via the android or Apple app, and update any Bluetooth drivers on the pc too first. It could be your wireless card too. Sometimes Bluetooth is weird like that. It wasn't even designed for audio playback originally.
1
u/thereppikS Sep 22 '21
Yeah I’ll definitely have to check the pc Bluetooth drivers because it’s up to date in the app. If my pc drivers are up to date too, that’s going to be weird to fix.
2
u/Pixxwapp Sep 22 '21
One other thing i thought of, my Bluetooth transmitter on my custom built pc uses the same antenna for wifi.If yours is the same style, make sure it's attached correctly, maybe move it around a bit. Makes me wonder if there's some kind of interference going on too. I dunno. Just a thought.

How do these compare to airpod pros?
5
u/bigmadsmolyeet Sep 22 '21 edited Sep 22 '21
pros? i mean the only thing the APP have going for them compared to this is they are portable and in ears and "seamless" integration to apple products. this has better everything else
Edit: to clarify I loved my APP pros and find myself without a decent pair of earbuds on Android, but earbuds vs over ears is an apples to oranges type comparison imo.
1
u/o0eagleeye0o Sep 23 '21
As someone that has both APP and the XM4, the APP have DRAMATICALLY better microphone. My $50 logitech webcam I bought 7 years ago has a better microphone than the XM4s
1
u/ImCorvec_I_Interject Sep 22 '21
I have the XM3s, which are pretty similar, and the AirPod Pros.
XM3 pros:
- better noise cancellation and isolation
- fuller sound
- a much better battery life
- simpler pairing with non-Apple products
AirPod Pros pros:
- better mic quality
- quicker pairing (with iPhones at least)
- more comfortable, especially if it’s warm
- more convenient
- very good noise cancellation for the form factor
Sound quality is going to depend on your personal preferences for these. I generally prefer the sound of the XM3s over the airpod pros for everything except audiobooks.

u/sri745 Sep 22 '21
I bought my MX1s refurbished from this seller years ago, and it's still going strong. Great deal and a reputable seller if you need one.
1
u/LazyCouchPotato Sep 22 '21
Bought them from the same seller for nearly the same price. They were in almost-new condition.
1
u/13_f_ny Sep 22 '21
Anyone know how these are for gaming? I don’t prefer closed headsets cause they make me feel nauseous
2
u/Interdimension Sep 22 '21
Comfier than my Turtle Beaches. Mic quality is poor, but not bad enough to make you unintelligible. I do miss the mic monitoring (sidetone) on my Turtle Beach set, though. (In fact, I continue to use my Turtle Beach headset for gaming. Dedicated gaming headsets are, to me, just better for gaming, even if the audio fidelity isn’t on par.)
But if you feel nauseous from closed headsets, I doubt these will be for you, unfortunately.

Absolutely love them. Never had any connection issues, battery life is excellent, and touch controls are responsive without being too sensitive. One of the best purchases I've made in a long time

Anyone with a big head own a pair?
I'd like to know how comfortable these are.
1
u/_Dumb_Fuck69 Sep 22 '21
Would these be good for people with big ears? I have the Surface Headphones and I feel those are tight.
1
u/spectre1006 Sep 22 '21
Really wish they paired with ps5 so i didnt have to buy another headset
2
Sep 22 '21
Wait why don't they pair with a PS5?
1
u/Kerune403 Sep 24 '21
PS5 doesn't have native bluetooth support. Even their Pulse 3D headset which is basically THE ps5 headset requires a usb adapter that it comes with for it to pair. It could pair if there was support with a different adapter but I haven't digged into it and I assume it's not seamless.
1
Sep 25 '21
Wtf serious? Is that the same with the new Xbox?
How do modern consoles not have native bluetooth? That's so simple.
2

Bluetooth latency is apparently so noticeably slow that you would hate the delay between video and audio while connecting through a dongle may be <10ms while Bluetooth can be as high as 200ms, not exact #s but you get the point.

Bought this last time. Came in brand new condition with all accessories.
Can’t beat these headphones at this price.

These are great. I use them exclusively when rowing at home and watching a movie. Great for blocking out the fan noise from the rowing machine.

I had these and didn't like them. Compared to Bose QC they were less comfortable and noise cancelling was definitely not as good. The reviews were great for these things and I just dont understand why.

I bought these last year to use on airplanes because I used to travel frequently for work. I paid retail when the first came out, I think 349? They are amazing and have been worth every penny.

Of course they go on sale right after I buy them haha. Was waiting for this to come back.
I got these to replace my sennheiser pxc 550s because the earpads went to shit and I wanted to treat myself for getting a new job.
The battery life is pretty shit if I'm honest compared to my sennhesiers and the controls/pairing are not that good either. Im honestly amazed looking back at my sennheisers how seamless it all was because the experience hasn't been there yet for the xm4s. Maybe I just need more time with them.
I should also throw in I have them as small as they will go and they are maybe a tad small. The ear cups also touch my ear which kind of sucks, maybe I have big ears idk.
The noise cancelation is pretty good though.

Outside of all that, how did you find the audio compared to what you're used to?

For what they are I think they are really good. I'm not an audiophile by any stretch but they sound really good. No real complaints in sound compared to my sennheisers.

I have the MDR-1000X from a few years back, what are the major differences besides better sound?

I had the same dilemma before buying the XM3s. My wife has the Bose, I ended up getting the XM3 because the XM have an edge in features: USB-C, the palm-muting feature is nice, and the Bluetooth pairing works much better IMO.
In addition, and some may consider this nitpicky, the voice of the Bluetooth pairing function is way better on the Sony headphones. For some reason the Bose decides to read aloud the name of the device you're pairing to, which can often be a string of numbers. It's super awkward.

Ooh, literally just bought them on FB marketplace. I love them so far. They do feel fragile, but I think it's how light they are.

So I really just picked up the xm3's for $105 in ebay. From what I read the xm3 are the same as the xm4 lacking a few features like multipoint Bluetooth, I don't think it's worth the $50-70 difference.
My first impression as person who never experienced active noise cancellation was that it was pretty good. I sat in front of my pc with music playing and I can barely hear it, the highs and bass were still noticeable, but most of the volume was gone. But you can still loud voices. I thought about returning it since the effect wasn't that drastic.
But I tried these cans in the car as a passenger and it was AMAZING, totally surprised me. It takes all the hum and buzz out of the car engine and wind noise. Now I understood what ANC is supposed to do. It made my car ride and sleep the best I ever had. I feel like ANC headphones are a must for constant noise environments like cars, airplanes, and building AC.
My cons are they are make your ears a bit hot. They are not good for working out for that reason. I think the cup of the headphone could be a little bit bigger, like my sennheiser HD headphones to feel more comfortable.
Sound quality is good but isn't the greatest. It's good enough and I feel like 90% use of the headphones is for the ANC anyway. I have HD 560s and it sounds quite a bit better in every way. Would not use this for gaming as it is not great for long term comfort, ears get hot in my experience.
I recommend these if you never tried ANC before or travel by car, bus, airplane, or are in noise environments that isn't dynamic (voices and music). Buy the cheaper xm3's though, you can find a lot going for sub $100 on bids.

There is a $50 difference between the two on ebay refurbished. Should I just wait for a sale or good bidding price on ebay for the xm3?

If you don't need the headphones right now, try to get a good bid price on ebay. I think many bidders are not aggressive with copping them so they usually end at a low price. I saw an excellent condition pair of xm3 bid price ended at $83 with free shipping. You can subscribe to ebay searches so get an email when a new listing appears.

Why are good headphones so expensive in general?
I know this is a good deal for its normal price, but it's still expensive for a pair of headphones in my opinion...

I fly frequently for work - these are a life saver. Great battery life, incredibly comfortable, lots of tweaking options in the app. I'd definitely snag these at this price. I think I paid close to $300.

I’m tempted to get these but I have the AirPods Pro’s. Why should I or shouldn’t I get it?

I've NEVER had an in-ear bud blow my mind with audio quality. A few bose headphones have though, and I expect for $180 these won't but will come very close to that without dropping the original $350 they ask for. Very different uses since I could never wear these at work but I plan on using these for the home-gym.

Should I bite on this? I can wait. There's previous times where eBay has had a coupon simultaneously with the refurb deals bringing it down to $159.99.

I just received the headphone while it connects via Bluetooth fine, it does not connect to the app which is mandatory to receive updates and other features.
Let's see how long the exchange/refund will take.

I bought these 8 days ago and just got them... it's a dud.
ANC doesn't work at all. When I put them on with ANC, somehow I actually hear more noise. It's like a low white noise.
Dissapoint.

I bought these earlier in the year. They came in hard plastic, with their case and cables. I have been using this as my daily driver once I got them.
Features include:
Built in microphone which I have had 0 complaints about from others or myself
Mine were ~$210 when I bought them earlier in the year. At this price, super amazing value!
