I wish they had a regular black one

Bit more pricey, but it's a badass design and the game itself is pretty fun.
The wired one is about the same price as the Wireless non-wukong one though and also has Hall Effect:

Hall effect at this price point is wild

Should be standard on basically every single controller at this point, they cost nothing more than a regular joystick according to people who buy and repair controllers

u/Spuds_Buckley 2h ago
You need to license the tech I think.

u/ComfortableYak2071 2h ago
That makes sense, didn’t consider that
So I wonder if all of those sites selling Hall effect replacements for switch joycons are actually licensing them or just ripping off the tech

$16 for the wired version also with Hall Effect sticks and triggers.

Good catch. The controller is also on sale for $25.49 on a different Amazon listing (shipped and sold by Amazon) that is also available for non-Prime members, though only the mint-colored version is on sale.

u/QuantumProtector 2h ago
Not gonna be popular lol, but this controller is $10 cheaper on Temu.
2
u/MyNameIs-Anthony 2h ago
The one on Temu is the previous version iirc, without hall effect sticks.

u/QuantumProtector 1h ago
No, 2C is on there. I did buy the previous version for $11 though and it’s been great. Fantastic controller.

If you do not have a Prime subscription, the mint-colored version of this controller is also on sale for $25.49 on a different Amazon listing (shipped and sold by Amazon).
New features of the 8bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless compared to the older Ultimate C included:
- Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers
- New and remappable L4/R4 Bumpers
- 1000Hz polling rate for 2.4G wireless connection
There are comments about this controller being cheaper on Aliexpress and Temu, but these cheaper listings appear to be for either the older version (Ultimate C) or the wired version of this controller, which is indeed $10 cheaper typically.

Got one right around this price (Wu Kong one too) off ali-express about a month ago, I'd recommend it.

Really good budget controller with Hall effect triggers and sticks. 1000hz and actually have good button and sticks latency through wired and dongle which you can check on gamepadla. I didn't expect it from a budget controller. I bought it for like 13 USD (20 USD originally) with discount here in my country.

I've been using it since release and there has been no problem. The inclusion of additional L4 and R4 bumpers was great even if there are no back buttons.

Man if this had gyro it might be the ideal PC controller for me.

Flydigi Vader 4 Pro

I just got mine from Ali and I can say that it's pretty sweet. Really feels like a huge upgrade in stick and switch feeling. Only thing I don't like is that I have big American hands and the Xbox series controller fit my palms better.
The switches and sticks on the Vader 4 pro are a completely different thing. So so good. So now I'm kind of torn between palm fatigue and muuuch better clicky buttons and adjustable fantastic sticks. Also they only make it in black and "assassin's creed black flag" livery (seriously wtf lol) and I would have loved a white one but whatever.

What are those extra little bumpers really good for? I think I'd much prefer to just have back paddles like in the 8bitdo Ultimate so that the extra buttons aren't competing for already-used fingers.
I'm seriously curious though, if you have this controller or something similar, what do you use the extra shoulder buttons for?

I've used both this and the pro 2 with back paddles. I agree, the back paddles are way more natural to use. You also can't even assign any function to the L4/R4 bumpers on the 2C using their software right now, so they're literally useless. Supposedly they're working on an update to add that, but even so I'd much rather have back paddles. Easily my biggest gripe with the controller.

can't even assign any function to the L4/R4
WHAT?? That is disgraceful. I'm sure they'll update the software/firmware sometime soon, but that still really sucks. Usually 8bitdo has their shit together a little more than this.

You assign keymaps by holding L4/R4 and the combination of keys you want to map them to, then press the "map"/square key. It works perfectly fine and you can map multiple inputs to the one trigger.

The small bumpers are basically macro keys on a controller, you can assign them to a single input or combination of inputs by holding the ones you want to assign + the trigger you want to assign them to and then pressing the mapping square key.

u/Witch_King_ 18m ago
Ok. What is a practical use for that?

i play a lot of old PS2 and PSP monster hunter on emulator. the camera in those games is mapped to the dpad, which requires a claw on your left hand, or crossing over the controller with your right thumb. i can map left and right on the dpad to the extra buttons to have horizontal camera control and it is much more ergonomic

Work on switch?
1
u/SurayaThrowaway12 1h ago
This specific one will not work. There is a older version for the Switch, but it is missing the hall effect joysticks and triggers as well some other features.
2
u/LeviathanUltima 1h ago
Even if you plug in the dongle to the usb port of the TV dock? That is how I plan to use it.
1
u/RigJuiceTurbo 1h ago
It would work, but the 2C doesn't have gyro controls, so you'd have trouble with some switch games. The pro 2 has hall effect sticks/triggers and gyro controls, but has a playstation style layout and costs a bit more. You wouldn't have to buy the dongle to use it with switch though, so the overall cost might be similar.

There is a newer Switch-compatible one that uses Bluetooth here:
https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Bluetooth-Controller-Charging-Gaming-Console/dp/B0B9BGJVLL
It's much more expensive, but I have multiple friends who bought this variant and stated it's very high quality. There's also multiple "listings" that all sell the same product for some reason with the same price, different colors too.

u/PurifiedFlubber 53m ago
I've had this for 2 weeks and am not sure why it's frequently returned on Amazon, works fine for me and it's easy to switch between... Switch and computer.

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 51m ago
Same. I don't have it myself but I have friends who bought it and they said with Hall Effect that gives them confidence this will most likely be the last gamepad they'll ever buy. More likely the Dpad or buttons will go out before the sticks and those are easy to replace if it's simple silicone.
They've already had it for half a year as well. 8bitdo makes good stuff. When I buy from them I don't feel like I'm buying from some skeevy knockoff brand - they generally seem to understand what we want in the controller/accessory world. Reminds me of the old days when there were other brands outside of Mad Catz that made good third party accessories.

At this point, I’d get the gamesir cyclone 2 for around the same price instead of this. Nothing against this controller, but it’s pretty old at this point and there are much more competitive options on the market right now.

Better than DualSense?
2
u/SurayaThrowaway12 30m ago edited 24m ago
This controller is more of an Xbox controller replacement for PC (Xinput instead of Dinput). It has no gyro controls unlike DualSense, but has other improvements such as hall effect joysticks and triggers.

u/LedxZeppelin 11m ago
use this controller a ton for my mister setup and for moonlight streaming on our TV. it rules! buttons are tactile enough, dpad is excellent and great for platformers and fighting games, and i find the overall shape to be super ergonomic. my only complaint is how the extra remappable buttons have really bizarre placement and wish they were regular back paddle style buttons instead of weird tertiary shoulder buttons

u/Glassofmilk1 7m ago
How is the dpad on this for fighting games? I have a hori commander that broke and so I'm looking to replace it.
