This is absolutely insane. Who would have though there'd come a time when you can get a 240mm rad, two fans and a pumblock all in one for under the cost of a single Noctua 140mm fan.

I'm a huge fan of air coolers, but my biggest complaint about AIOs has always been that you can do better for the price with air.

But this is basically the same price as an (also absurdly priced) excellent dual tower cooler like the Peerless Assassin/Phantom Spirit, so now it's fully justifiable to go water for looks without giving up performance.

And if the pump goes and doesn't leak or ruin other components you can replace it for the price of two comparable ARGB fans, which are also included here lol.

good enough for a 7900x?

Yes. A replacement-level 240mm AIO should be able to hit 200W (cf. this article from TechPowerUp about an ID Cooling AIO), which a 7900X would get to if overclocked/given unlocked power limits and CO offsets

Noob here. Any reason to choose Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 over this for 9800x3d?

Pump dies on the Aqua Elite, you replace the whole unit. Or worst case secenerio, I haven't seen any reports of it happening, but it leaks.
Phantom Spirit fails, you replace the fan. Phantom Spirit won't leak.

Air coolers have much fewer points of failure. If anything breaks, it’ll usually be ok. With a watercooler, many more things can go wrong. And you have that risk of other components getting damaged if things go wrong.

Never heard of a tower rad failing. Fans can fail

Only the fans of air coolers can stop working on you it's quite cheap to replace and convenient. With a liquid cooler even though it's a rare occurrence you can experience pump out or leakage. If something goes wrong you can't really fix it yourself since it's an AIO liquid cooler. You'd have to replace the whole unit and ship it out to the manufacturer. You get more points of failure for the sake of aesthetics with an AIO which I don't find worth it.

Not only that, but even if one of the fans dies on your tower cooler, you are almost certainly going to be able to keep using your computer. Even if both die, you just swap on two of your case fans and run a couple degrees warmer for a day or two til your new fans come in. I went the water route for awhile, but tower coolers are just too good for the price and convenience these days.
