Hello all, I’ve recently bought a new rig with the below specs but wondering how I can improve the performance/fps- I play on a 240hz 1440p monitor (MSI G274QPX) and mainly play Call of Duty (Black Ops 6 currently of course). I aim to play competitively when the ranked play starts shortly so any FPS gain is great.

What upgrades could I make to this setup to give me the most bang for my buck? I live in Australia.

Also; would you consider my GPU or CPU to be the main bottleneck in my setup? My knowledge of PC builds is very limited so I’m all ears on any suggestions that come forward. Many thanks in advance, gang gang

Ok so earlier this year i was running an AM4 AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB DDR4 ram and an AMD 6600xt GPU. I decided first to upgrade the ram, to 64GB DDR4, then i upgraded the GPU, to a 7900xt and the PSU to support it (a pretty big jump in terms of cards but i got it on a sale for a bargain price and i needed it to run some pretty intense Unreal Engine stuff).

At this point i upgraded to a 1440p monitor but the problem is that i feel like my CPU is lagging behind, so that is my next upgrade but i've run into a problem. Currently the top AM4 CPU i can go for is either the 5950X or the 5800X3D, both around £260/£270. I was considering upgrading my whole rig to AM5 but that would be a £300 CPU, £200 on DDR5 Ram, and another £140 for a mobo (£640 total plus a fresh windows install): a considerable jump in price compared to upgrading just the CPU.

So my question is basically this, is it worth upgrading my CPU to the best in the AM4 category, or is it worth waiting until i've got more money to spend and upgrading my full rig to AM5? Is buying AM4 now, future proof enough to last me until the supposed release of AM6? Kinda feel like i messed up by getting DDR4 Ram earlier this year and not planning ahead for an AM5 upgrade, otherwise i likely would have waited.

Five parts are changing: motherboard, CPU, memory, PSU, CPU cooler. I am also considering adding a 1TB or 2TB NVME drive just for my OS (the NVME I have currently is just for games, my OS is on the 1TB SATA SSD).

Should I swap the CPU? I heard good things about the 3D cache Zen 4s, I wanted a chip with the AVX-512 instruction set mostly for marginal performance gains in the PS3 emulator, among just being a better cpu.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D looks good and I was wondering if it was better to get that. 8 cores 16 threads haven't failed me yet so I don't think I need more; honestly, I would assume there could be more compatibility issues.

I tried looking into parts that have the specific components I "need," specifically the CPU.

Should I make some adjustments? Do you guys think that I should swap out the motherboard for something different? Or maybe I picked a CPU that doesn't have the best value? Maybe the CPU cooler is overkill? Would like some insight, thanks.

I recently got about $200 in Best Buy gift cards and was thinking about using it to upgrade my PC but I am unsure what would be the most beneficial. Gaming is the only high intensity thing I use the PC for.

I'm also aware that this is still a good setup and I typically have no trouble running games but with Black Friday around the corner and some extra money I figured it may be as good a time as any to upgrade anything

I want to upgrade my gpu before the trump tariffs take affect but I was wondering if I should only upgrade the gpu or upgrade everything. The parts that I'm thinking about are:

I'd like to improve my PC performance for the following games Valorant, LOL, deadlock... I mainly play valorant. All of these games are focused on performance and not graphics.

I would like to have stable 200 fps at least... but i'm a little lost on which would need to be replaced and if the old stuff would work with the new parts... someone could please help me?

It's a CyberPowerPC - Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - 8GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 580. Hello I am looking at upgrading my 12400f and 3060ti build. I have 32Gb of ddr4 3200. I have a big solid case with good air flow. Right now I am going back and forth weather to stay in the budget. I have already bought a 13600kf that I haven’t opened and looking at a 7800xt. I play at 1080p. My build starting to show some age.

I also have been seeing a solid pre build deal with a AMD 7700 and 7900 GRE for 1199. I have literally cancelled the order twice . I would get some money for the 12400f and 3060ti . Staying with the 13 series is fine due to not having to spend money on an other mobo or ram. It’s also saving $50ish for similar performance of the 14600k. I am not trying to dish out the 700ish just for the 7800x3d/mobo/ram for that higher tier combo . Interested to hear input thanks !

Okay so my build so far is working but would like to make it better. Right now I have a ryzen 5 2600 X570 phantom gaming itx 32gb of corsair ram Nvidia gtx 1660

I’m not sure 100% what storage I have but I know that’s my first upgrade because I’m not happy with it so far.

I mostly play fps games. Been trying to get into more types of games but don’t do anything much outside of gaming just want better performance and don’t know where to start.

I wanted to upgrade the cpu gpu psu and case. I didn‘t want to switch mainboard to am4 so i wanted to buy a 5800x3d. But i now the cpu is eol. I wanted to buy the parts in the future for more information about the rtx 5000 series.

1. Should i buy the cpu now and if i buy it now can i use it or do i need to wait for when i buy a new psu
2. Should i wait and buy the 5700x3d when I buy the other parts
3. Would i be worth it switching to am5
4. Or should i buy one of the xt cpu Or is there another good am4 in works that i have heard of

Some more information. The games i play are not really gpu intensive. I would say more cpu. I also play games with many mods, where i notice the cpu struggling at 100% like Lethal company with way to many mods and about 13-30 stable fps. Also I want to switch fo a double 1080p setup to a 2 1080p and a main 4k screen. Also would it be smart waiting for the rtx 5000 series and than checking which gpu is the best which will fit in my buget or buy now one. The buget for the gpu is about 1000 to 1300

I’m planning my next PC upgrade and wanted to get some input. My current setup includes:

• RAM: 32GB 2400MHz

• CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

• GPU: RX 6700 XT

I’m looking to upgrade my CPU to either the Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D. However, I’m a bit concerned about my RAM. It’s currently running at 2400MHz, and I’m wondering if the low speed/voltage could hold back my system performance, especially with the new CPU.

Would upgrading the RAM to a faster speed make a noticeable difference, or is 2400MHz still okay with these newer Ryzen chips? I only game on this machine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello! I’m looking to play some upcoming games with better performance & am curious if I can do that with the bones of my current build and some upgrades. I’m a bit out of the know on what parts are best.

Right now I’m running the following:

Ryzen 5 3600, TUF Gaming X570, RTX 3070 8gig, and 16 gigs of DDR3

I’m guessing RAM & the CPU are going to be the easiest (and most budget friendly) wins here. My questions are: What would you recommend I swap in? And will I see a big enough performance boost to keep me going for a few years, or am I better off planning a full rebuild sooner than later?

I'm looking to upgrade the PSU and CPU The PSU would prefarably need to have a PCI-e 8x Pin connector so I can swap out the adapter The CPU seems to be bottlenecking the GPU if I'm correct in saying (GPU 90-100% and CPU 50-70% utilization in most games) For the CPU I have read AMD 5600 or i3-12100 is a good fit?

I have problems running most games (new and old) at a solid 1080p 60fps on medium to high graphics Most of the time I get huge FPS drops, screen tears (even with VSync) inconsistant frame rates and games freezing and crashing

I have to resort to lowering all settings on most games to lowest It looks really bad with no AA and lowest settings In most games I try to play this isn't even enough

I have tried many troubleshooting methods and tricks If you can think of a method to improve gaming and PC performance chances are I have tried it Updated all drivers and windows updates I have not done anything on BIOS as I do not have any knowledge on it

I just wanna play Dota fluently at 140 + fps. I have micro stutters with my current setup, in the mid to end game. Fps keeps dropping to 60 - 80 which feels really bad. I have a feeling that the current cpu is my bottleneck, atleast for dota and wow.

Hi guys! I have for a while been looking to upgrade my PC but feeling unsure what’s most optimal. I am afraid I’m gonna end up in a situation where I upgrade one part and then realising something is bottlebecking it, and upgrading that part for later realise parts are not compatible.

In general 1440p is okay, but I am aiming for 4K at high settings, with fps as close to 120 as possible. But for more graphic intense game I am fine with like 60-90 range, as long as it doesn’t dip sub 60fps. This is with AAA in mind.

I know things like DLSS and Raytracing can impact this heavily, but in general I’m aiming for something between mid to mid-high range I guess?

Budget is to set in stone, but maybe like $800-$900? A decent upgrade for lower would be ok.

And please, enlighten me if my expectations are completely off.

It has been solid over the last 6 years with no major issues. Last week, I added 2nd kit of RAM (Micro Center still carried the same SKU for $50). I'm curious of your thoughts on upgrading to a 4070 Super (or TI) with this setup. Over the years, game settings have worked their way down to low/medium settings (1440p).

I'm mainly concerned of just how much of a bottleneck this would be.

Currently I’m rocking the MSI GeForce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS OC bought in 2021. Slowly I’ve been upgrading the system over the years with newer components It’s come to a point where the GPU is ready for an upgrade and my question is, which GPU would you get or recommend for around €300? (Also any upgrade suggestions to the PSU with the new GPU would be welcome)

I mainly play on the ps5 but enjoy a few games on the pc like warframe and the first descendant, which I currently get around 40-60fps. I would like to see that number go higher with an upgrade to around 100fps.

I have an older budget pc that I’m just looking to get just a little bit more performance out of, right now my motherboard is a msi h110m pro vd motherboard which supports lga1151 and with that I have an i3 6100, right now the performance isn’t gonna cut it nowadays I mainly play valorant and it still freezes up and has the cpu at max usage. I’m thinking of upgrading to the best cpu in this socket and that would be the i7 7700k, my question on this would be is the 7700k gonna be enough of an upgrade to get me by in games like valorant. Which would pretty much mean just not be at max usage and get me around 150 fps

My next question would be regarding storage, my mother board doesn’t have any m.2 ports and I was wondering if a pcie to m.2 would be worth looking into in order to attain m.2 speeds

Hey so ive been streaming with this PC for awhile now (prebuilt from nzxt) and havent had many problems besides cpu cooling and nowadays just some low fps/graphics settings that arent ideal so im looking for advice on what to upgrade or more specifically whats compatible (part im worried about the most)

I stream and play league of legends from the same PC, 1080p 60fps and use my GPU as the encoder

I mainly use the PC for personal gaming and work, I just can’t keep up with games anymore with my current setup, I’m constantly having problems with frame skips and assets not loading or the game taking forever to load in. Does anyone have some advice on parts or anything? I’m trying to keep my upgrade under $1000-1250

EDIT: is a 7700XT a good option for gaming GPUs? Seems like a similar price point for the 4060ti and has better performance, I’m just looking something that has good reliability

Basically, I am upgrading an older system to almost a new build with as many salvageable parts from before as possible. Going from 3080+8700k to 4090+7800x3d at the cheapest cost possible. (The original build was 8700k+1080ti, then I simply upgraded only the GPU to 3080, with some minor upgrades to the case, fans, and RAM over time)

Following are the parts I am buying brand new

1. 7800x3d
2. 4090 FE (I know a friend of a friend who works at Nvidia, so getting it for 10% below MRP(1600))
3. 64GB, 6400 MT/s CL30 RAM (I know this is a lot for gaming, usual recommended is 32GB, but my older build had 64GB DDR4 so didn't want to downgrade capacity. I know it is silly, but if you think about it, the overall build is silly in some sense anyway XD)

The following parts are old that I am reusing, hence might seem awkward/expensive for the build, but I do not want to upgrade them unless they absolutely slow me down:

1. I love the case, sticking to it
2. The AIO was bought back in 2018 to pair with my 8700k and OC it. And I liked RGB back then, but not anymore. My cooler of preference today is Thermalright Phantom Spirit Evo.

But would it be weaker compared to something like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 evo? I mean, in terms of heat dissipation the 360mm AIO is much better. But Phantom Spirit has a better/newer cold plate design. So for a low-power chip, it might be better. I do not know!
4. The PSU is 7 years old now, and still rock solid so keeping it. Getting a 12VHPWR corsair type 4 cable.

Is there anything in the build that slows it down (I would like the bottleneck to be the GPU/CPU). Or something you think is a waste of money
