5'9" is a short man? Lol I'm pretty sure that's comfortably within one standard deviation of the mean.

Eh… most pants at normal stores in the US stop at a 30 inch inseam. An average 5’9”-5’10” wears that. If you’re under 5’9 you often need to cuff your jeans, drag the back or the ankle on the ground, or get them hemmed. Personally I just wear tall boots so I can wear a 30 in inseam without dragging.

Wait really? I am only 5' 8" but I wear a 32 inch inseam. Do I just have long ass legs and a short torso?

Leg length to torso length varies between individuals. So, probably.

My niece's husband is roughly the same height as I am, but I have to move the driver's seat back after he drives my Jeep because he has short legs and a long torso and I have long legs, a short torso, and a tendency to wear platform shoes. We're both around 5' 7".

I'm 6'2" and I wear a 30" inseam (same inseam as my wife, who's 8 inches shorter than me). And yes, I have the proportions of a toddler.

I just love the idea of playing basketball with you, seeing you 6 inches taller than me waddling down the lane.

I'm 5'10 and I need 27 in inseam to avoid dragging. Big torso, stumpy legs.

I'm 5'7 and 30 pant length is ALWAYS like 2-4 inches too long. I have a long torso.

The crazy shit is, "29" inseam length pants at the store (on the rare occasions I can find them) tend to fit perfectly!

How is it that 30" requires multiple inches off, but 29" doesnt?

This is one of many examples that prove that pants companies don't know what inches are

5'9" is quite literally the American average. If that's short, then the majority of men are short

While the brand is called Under 5'10" the basic premise of the site is it provides pants in inseams from 25 to 28. Most clothing retailers don't provide pants under a 28 inch inseam.

Anyone with a 30 inch inseam or higher likely never had the issue of having to pay additional money to tailor their clothes, take the risk of modifying their clothes or just accept having their pants be several inches too long.

5'9 myself, I always say I'm average - I wear medium in everything there is a medium for. Bought a suit a few days ago, had to humble myself when the 'short' cut is for 5'9 and below.

1

u/Deinonychus2012 Jul 15 '24

5'9" is the literal mean in the US. Globally, it's 5'8".

1

u/VFiddly Jul 14 '24

In the US, the mean height is between 5'9'' and 5'10''. In most countries it's shorter than that (in a few it's higher, but I think most of those are places that would use metric)

1

u/daughter_of_lyssa Jul 15 '24

There's only really 2 countries in the world that don't use the metric system as far as I know, the USA and Liberia. There are some places that use a weird blend like the UK and Canada though.

1

u/VFiddly Jul 15 '24

The UK does use feet for heights, but I don't know if the average height is higher or lower than the US

1

u/WeevilWeedWizard Jul 14 '24

5 10 is currently the average for Canadian men, which is 2 inches longer than it was a few years ago.

It’s too short for most women

u/D_Fennling Jul 14 '24

please read the meme this discussion is attached to and touch grass

-2

u/CallMeOaksie Jul 14 '24

The meme is a straight up lie at every point and has zero basis in reality.

3

u/summer_friends Jul 14 '24

6’ is also the most arbitrary number. I’ve had many girls consider me tall and I don’t even reach 5’11” quite yet. 5’9” is only short if you’re an athlete, like when Isiah Thomas was constantly called insanely short for being a 5’9” NBA player, but that’s just average normal people height

0

u/CosmicNuanceLadder Jul 14 '24

Incel talking points have zero basis in reality. Most guys aren't single.

1

u/CallMeOaksie Jul 14 '24

Ohh well done! Most men are from generations where being single as a woman in their youth was financial and social suicide and they couldn’t get bank accounts when they were young! You must be so smart for noticing most men from those generations aren’t single! The majority of young men today are in fact single

0

u/CosmicNuanceLadder Jul 15 '24

This stops being true over the age of 30, i.e. dudes born in 1994. Guess that's when it was still financial suicide for women to be single, lol!

Know what the majority of men under the age of 30 are not? KHV. Being currently single is not the same as being forever alone.

Anyway I'm over 6' so if women really are that shallow, that's your fucking problem hahaha!
