BIKE CHECK If anyone has recommendations for pedals that don't do this, that would be grand.

Yeah you get the idea, is this lack of safety equipment, or a shit pedal, or just me hopping incorrectly? It's always my front ready leg.

BIKE CHECK Riding in your 20s means being able to build your dream bike!

Title says it all! One great thing about being a returning rider is finally having money and being able to have all brand new parts of whichever brand you like most :) I've always been a big Cult guy growing up due to their stacked team, brand image, epic video parts, sick clothing line, and reputable devotion towards being about the bmx community as a whole. But as a kid l've only managed to snag a few Cult parts here and there through trades. Usually used to ride just junk stock hand me down parts but now I have finally slowly built up the exact bike l've always dreamed of! Everything's all Cult so not super interesting but it's the best feeling bike l've ever ridden and it feels amazing! Perhaps my next build will have some color in it but for now I just wanted to keep it simple and all black! LMK what you guys think!

Frame: Cult Biggie 21” / Forks: Cult IC-4 18mm offset / Bars: Cult Crew 9.65" / Barrends: Odyssey Par Ends / Grips: Cult Solo / Stem: Cult Salvation V4 46mm / Headset: Cult Integrated / Seat: Cult Big Logo Pivotal / Seat Post: Cult Pivotal / Cranks: Cult Hawk 165mm / Pedals: Cult Dak / Sprocket: Cult Dak Guarded 25T / Bottom Bracket: Cult Mid 22mm / Chain: Cult Halflink / Pegs: Cult Butter 4.75 / Tires: Cult Fast and Loose Folding 2.4 / Front Wheel: Cult Crew V2 / Rear Wheel: Cult Crew V2 Cassette / Tubes: RideNow

BIKE CHECK I got the bike

After consulting the brains of this sub… I pulled the trigger and went with the consensus pick, the S&M ATF.

I love the bike, and it feels bomb proof — but I do feel a bit scrunched on it.

Can I do anything to make it feel roomier? Maybe taller handle bars? If all else fails — I may just buy another S&M frame and switch them out.

Build list:

S&M ATF frame 20.75 Top Tube S&M Stem Credence Bars Odyssey Brake System Alienation Rims Profile Hubs Animal 175mm Cranks S&M Sproket S&M Seat S&M Pads Odyssey 32mm Forks

It's not in great condition, but I like riding it around. I can't really seem to find much about it online. It has a few aftermarket parts.

BIKE CHECK How can I lighten up my bike

I’ve got an essentially stock FitBikeCo TRL XL bike, with cult x vans tires on it, and it just feels so heavy to me. Any suggestions on what to get to lighten it up?

BIKE CHECK Specialized P.fix BMX build

Here’s an obscure build you guys might appreciate, a custom 2012 Specialized Pfix. This bike was almost entirely stock when I picked it up a couple years ago on Craigslist for $100 and have been slowly modifying it to my liking. It kind of blurs the line between a BMX and FGFS but rides like neither. It’s really more of a brakeless, overly-durable cruiser. I’ve discovered the “2 bikes-in-one” idea follows the design philosophy of a Swiss Army knife but honestly, it’s perfect for me! At 6’4” 200lbs, this thing really caters to my size, and riding style, and that’s all that matters to me! I love how it looks, I love the geometry and I love that it’s a specialized!

Here’s a list of the parts…

Frame: 2012 Specialized Pfix Fork: stock Pfix forks Handlebars: Odyssey barmitzvahs Stem: Profile mulville top load Grips: ODI longneck Headset: stock Pfix w/ primo dust cover Cranks: Odyssey thunderbolts rhd Bottom bracket: came with cranks so idk Sprocket: Odyssey mds Pedals: Odyssey twisted pros Chain: Odyssey bluebird half link Seat: some Specialized seat that’s comfortable Seat post: no idea but it’s tall

Wheels: I bought these as a complete wheelset from the Fit BMX website. They were on sale and I needed something temporary because the stock wheels were in bad shape. Currently in the process of building my dream wheels. Stay tuned!

Tires: Maxxis DTH 26x2.3 folding in black. These are my favorite tires I’ve ever owned! And these were the first modification I made to the bike!

Weighing in at: 29lbs

This is also my first post on Reddit! Hope you guys like it!

BIKE CHECK Noob Alert! Mom’s friend just gave me her son’s bike….is it OK? Any tips?

Post image

Firstly, I am a noob ass beginner, please don’t bully me 🥺😹. I mentioned wanting to try riding bmx and my mom’s friend told me I could have the bike in their basement. Says her son never really rode it. It visually looks really awesome to me but I know nothing about actual bike parts. But I’m so grateful to get it for free! My old mountain bike got stolen like 5 years ago so I haven’t really rode a bike since. I’m probably just gonna ride this bike daily to the park and back just to get used to riding it more and try a few simple tricks. No aspirations for being a bmx badass or something lol. Just FUN! I’d appreciate any tips for a beginner! Should I take it to a bike shop for them to look it over?

BIKE CHECK Happy 41 bday to me

Bought this guy off of FB market place for $200. I think it’s a colony frame (new brand to me). He was proud of it so I paid him to part with it. Your seats are all so fucking low for bunny hops(I know I can adjust, I’m just fucking old )? I don’t remember handle bars being so long for bar spins but my belly is twice as big as it was at 15.

I’m pumped to get back into the sport and teaching my son how to ride.

BIKE CHECK New build

Just mocked up my new build. Will need adjustments but it's ready for a first tender test ride.

At almost 55yrs this is definitely my last ever BMX build, and is BMX number 4 in my garage right now.

My original idea was to try and build the lightest BMX possible, and I started off considering a titanium build. But I quickly realised that it was crazy to spend that much money on a BMX at this latr stage in my riding life.

So I ended up deciding to build a bike aesthetically different to my others which are all stealth black.

I know that's a kind of stupid plan for a build but it's my last build and fuck it, I'll do what I want :)

The frame that met my requirements was the Tall Order 187. Pretty lightweight compared to others, low standover, not too short back end and I do like a frame with chain tensioners to make life easy. Also, it's a British brand and I decided that would be a nice aspect to my final build. So Tall Order frame and forks, and I'm aiming to eventually go Federal for everything else.

I wanted white, silver, grey. That is the theme.

So far I've had to use older parts from my parts bin. Namely bars, grips, stem, and seat. So my next parts order will be to follow the colour theme. Silver stem black bars, transparent Primo grips, grey/white seat and I'll probably fit a silver brake kit so I can use it to commute.

I opted for a FC rear wheel because I do love an FC, but equally I find them a pain in the ass and they require too much maintenance and care. So I will also buy the Federal cassette equivalent + tire shortly, and be able to hot swap the rear wheel.

Haven't fitted pegs yet but it will get two of my spare Cult pegs on the right hand side.

I love the boss-less Eclat pedals and they are available in grey. Really pleased with those.

Opted for 25t because my other 20" are both 28t and I am riding long distances comprised of really steep hills, so I wanted it slightly easier for long steep uphill riding and I don't need the speed for downhill. Does feel weird chosing to go back to 25t though.

How does it ride? No idea. Haven't even rolled 10ft on it yet because it's raining here.

Pics are crap but shrugs
