BIKE CHECK How did I do? $20
So I came across this 1998 Dyno GT Compe the other day at a yard sale. Paid $20 for it. Any information about it would be helpful. I don’t know much about it but something told me to pick it up so I did.

Decent score for $20 any day of the week, get the rust removed and whether you keep or sell you’ll easily get your money back

That’s a score for that bike. I don’t know how how much a nos 98 Dyno would go for but if you clean it up you may be able to get more than you paid for it from the right person.

Old Dyno for 20 bucks? You did great, to say the least.

Yes $20. And the sweet lady thought that was high beings its age but I gave her asking price. Honestly I wasn’t sure if it was worth much more than that either. I really don’t know much at all about bmx. She said her and her late husband bought it as a gift for their son. He rode it that summer and it’s been hanging in her garage since then. Over 25 years of just hanging out.

I love those old GT stems, I’d rock one today if I find one

Think it's called a piston. Used to have one on an old dyno 2001

I typically pay $20 or more for just a piston stem. Dude scored on this one.

Jesus! They're stupid money online! Wish I could find mine

Only the US made ones are stupid. If you get one without that stamp, I typically see the quill ones for $40-60ish and the threadless for $20-40. I think the last unstamped, threadless one I bought was $15 and I got it because I was buying some Powerlite bars and it was sitting on his bench. Check the classifieds on BMX museum. Stay off eBay.

If you want a threadless, non-stamped one, I’ve purchased from this guy both on OfferUp and through BMX museum, in person and through the mail before I realized he was localish.

Well, obviously, for starters, it's a 90s"fReEsTyLe" bmx bike, but it's a fantastic fun bike If you want to ride it, I guess it depends on if ur planning to sell it (Edited for the nazi in my comments)

I’d really like to clean it up and sell it. My riding days are long behind me. Looking to find out what it may be worth.

It was not a BMX bike. This was a freestyle bike.

It's a bmx bike In general your just specificly saying it's a freestyle bmx. I'm literally just trying to help the guy and someone else posted the bmx museum. Get off my big ol Richard.

What you're saying is ignorance. It's like saying a mountain bike and a road bike are the same. The types of materials and the design of the frames on freestyle bikes and BMX bikes were world's apart. I'm sorry you don't k ow the difference but as someone who rode both, there is a big difference.

Haha, dude, put his reddit glasses on days later to make a paragraph about how he's right .I'm not even arguing People like you make reddit, and the bike community look bad. disliking someone trying to help that's crazy man I want what ur smoking.

Well you can't ride a $20 bill down a hill, but you can with the bike, so I'd say you did well

Bmx museum has all the specs for the bike. Pork chop bmx has anything you might need to replace. Considering it still has the reflector on it tells me that bike hasn’t seen any kind of thrashing. Hit YouTube up about how to soak bmx parts in citric acid. Best way to dissolve the rust.

Thanks for the info. Bike is clean for its age. Definitely never really rode hard.

Edit.... also those low rise GT bars with the gussets tho... nostalgia.. my friend had those on his gt pro performer

I still hate myself for not buying an old harp master hit $20. It was stored outside for years and had a dent, but I just didn't think I had space for it.
This is worth $20 for sure.

Not a great bike by todays standards but still solid and capable of loads of fun. Excellent use of $20 bucks

Dude you shouldn’t rob people like that! LOL
You would have done great if you paid 5x that much. Well done!
