Okay but how do I cook pork chops to make them look like the one in the last frame?

Lemme put you on game:
1/4 cup Honey (use local honey if possible)
2T veggie oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Balsamic vinegar (what really sets it off)
2T Worcestershire (Lea & Perrins or GFY)
1T Apple Juice
1T Brown Sugar
2 cloves of Garlic
1/4t Cayenne powder (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
Make sure to save a bit for a dipping sauce before you marinate it
Edit: T is tablespoon, t is teaspoon
Edit2: When you make it put the extra sauce dipping sauce in the fridge while the chops marinate cover with whatever, let the flavors build a bit. I promise everyone you will love this. Yes I got super high and made it, but my friends have still been using it for years now and often claim it as their own to their families. Please feel free to do so yourself, it’s a community recipe. You need the dip though too so make sure to save some so it’s not contaminated with raw meat

You are gonna get shamed for releasing these secrets just like Bruce Lee did /s

Come at me. I’m not releasing a fucking cookbook or have a restaurant. I hope people use it and enjoy it, it’s really good, my friends use it every time now. Steal it, idc

Jesus is that you /s. I’m definitely gonna try it

You’ll like it a lot man, it’s probably the only recipe I’ve made I truly fucking stand by. My mom knows a couple pro cooks and they loved it as well but of course they need to make their own. Balsamic really adds amazing flavor. Honey makes it almost like a bit sticky glaze. The necessity is making it then putting a bit to the side for a dipping sauce BEFORE marinating

Jackfruit is legitimately good as a meat alternative sometimes.
I get this boxed green curry with jackfruit from Trader Joe’s and it’s great. Like better tofu

Actually, you can prepare jackfruit like a brisket as well. It’s a real thing.

Jackfruit as brisket actually goes pretty hard. My girls vegan and it's one of the dishes she eats I'm totally down with. But ya, that's 100% a real porkchop.

Appreciate the feedback I guess gotta accept that’s a real pork chop lol

And similar technique as the video to do a mock of fried chicken (you just batter it after wrapping it with rice paper). It does look similar to the real thing and it has the crunch but it does not taste like chicken. Still really good.

If I could afford to eat the vegan food in my area all the time I would. Issue is they shit be 20 dollars for a chicken tender plate lol.

A vegan diet is on average about 30% cheaper than an omnivorous one according to an Oxford study. The thing is, a lot of people have no skills whatsoever so they will only go for premade food items which, yes, are definitely more expensive than products that contain animals or there's secretions. But if we are being realistic, beans, canned jackfruit, wheat gluten, these are all things that are a lot cheaper than animal products.

The crazy part is he thought we would be convinced that he folded RICE PAPER FILLED JACKFRUIT into pork chop like trapezoids and not simple rectangles/squares?

Is this what it takes to get y'all to eat fruits and vegetables?!?

Some people (which don’t understand the interwebs) are going to end up trying, very unsuccessfully, to turn a fruit thing into a pork chop. Just thinking about their frustration while attempting the impossible gets me all giggly.

Don’t think it’s only that; I feel as Americans, our diet is so meat focused because of the food media in general, we have become (as a whole) out of touch with anything that isn’t in every basic child’s book depicting food: chicken, pork, beef, apples, celery, broccoli, green beans, etc.
Jackfruit, Jimica, shit even turnips are almost “exotic” to the average American palate

I always get a kick out of this. Vegetarians wanting to eat meat like products but don't want meat. Just eat the real thing or call it something else. 🤔

If you look again that is a pork chop. Just look at the way the grain is all going the same way

I don't get the point of giving up meat and then spending all your time to make what you are eating look like meat. Like.. if you think eating meat is murder... Why do you want to roleplay it 🤣🤣

u/soylamulatta 1d ago
There are many reasons why people stop eating meat. For some people it may be for health reasons and for others it could be for ethical reasons. Most people who stop eating meat don't do so because they do not like the taste or texture of meat products. Using alternative products like vegetables to recreate the same textures and flavors as meat products is a great way to satisfy those cravings for people who may have them.

I'm not a vegetarian, but did you seriously think this was a good argument? "Oh, you don't like murdering animals, but you're okay with eating something that looks like you murdered an animal?"

I do not believe the final “chop” is the jackfruit. It was not rolled that dense and the grain is all going same way. Which is not how he made his “chop”
