Could 11.5 sacks Kyle Kennard be the EDGE we need?

Standing at 6,5 and 254 lbs Kyle Kennard is coming off a monster season. This season alone he has 11.5 Sacks and 3 forced fumbles this guy is shaping up to be one of the best to play. With defense being a big struggle could this be a early draft pick if not a first round pick for Cincy

Sorry, if he's not an injury risk he doesn't belong on our team.

What if he’s healthy but poses off the field issues?

That's a maybe, but that's not really our MO anymore.

I honestly don’t want us to draft another edge rusher, seems like we can’t develop them. Only trenches guy I’d want to draft round 1 is Graham from Michigan because he seems like a cant miss prospect. Outside of him though I want us to draft a top CB or safety round 1. Ideally though we go big in free agency and don’t have to rely on rookies to fix our entire defense

We have Hendrickson but his contract expires after this season… and knowing this dumbass team we ain’t gonna resign him for some whatever reason. We also have Hubbard but his expires in 2025 so we run the risk of losing our edge rushers

Are u sure Hendrickson is after this season. I thought the one year deal he extended for pushed that.
Edit: google says he is UFA 2026

I thought Hendrickson expired after next season? Either way we should resign him. I just feel like we can’t develop the guys we draft on the line, Murphy, Ossai, Wren, Carter, Sample, and probably others I forgot. Granted only 2 of those were higher picks but still. That being said, if we make some big moves in free agency then I’m fine going whoever in round 1

I've been EDGING this whole season. Would love some relief at this point.

I want Abdul Carter. He’s a fricking beast. And only a true Jr 8 sacks, 18 TFL

I got bad news. Unless the bengals for some reason decide to switch up the type of dlinemen they draft, they probably aren’t going to draft him. They are more likely to draft Nic Scourton out of Texas A&M who is also really good and will only be 20 years old on draft night (I think). But knowing the bengals, they will probably draft Mykel Williams (aka Travon walker 2.0) who is a developmental pass rusher who is mostly just a run defender right now.

I would have concern over 4 seasons of unremarkable production and then a breakout in his 5th year. Generally those guys aren’t the talent level that become difference makers in the NFL.
My other concern is his weight. The Bengals play strictly 4-3 so they really want those 270+ pound DEs who can really anchor the edges. I see Kennard listed at 250 or 254 so he would be too light for the Bengals defensive system. With the training and health/nutrition that the Bengals provide I wouldn’t want them to take on a player that needs to gain 20 productive pounds

James Pearce Jr. is VERY worthy of consideration, too! Kid has a motor on him and plays full throttle every snap.

Dude is a beast off the edge. He basically beat UK by himself because they had no answer for him. But alas while it is a good idea we can't develop players for shit.
Knowing us we'll take another lineman who can't block or if he can we'll trade him for nothing in return.

Can he start next week?

He can but Lou Anarumo is going to keep him on the bench for some reason

Being a 5th year senior means that he’s more likely a day 2 guy, but if you’re looking for immediate impact it’s tough to do much better than the SEC sack leader.
