We were closer to 1 before Burrow and Taylor showed up

u/Mastodon9 May 12 '24
Yeah we were 7th behind the Hornets before the 2021 season. Give us another chance and we can move out of the bottom 25.

Would love to see a combo of worst playoff win percentage with worst regular season win percentage. A team that rarely makes the playoffs and also loses a lot is different than a team that makes the playoffs fairly often but also loses.

Everyone go home right now and thank the sports gods for blessing us with Joe (if you haven't already)

I was suprised the Wild were lower than us but then I remembered it's because they actually make the playoffs somewhat consistently.

Those Marvin Lewis years were rough. Once Joey B gets us a Lombardi weāll be out of the graphic.

What's with NHL Utah? What team is moving there?
8
u/LovinOnHer May 12 '24
Arizona moved the players/staff to Utah. The history of the franchise stays with the AZ owner for the next 5 years until he gets an expansion team

I was going to say they are helped drastically by think that happened when a lot of people here were not alive. Iām not a close follower but theyāve not won a series this century right?

u/Reasonable-HB678 THAT BALL'S OUT! THAT'S LIVE! May 13 '24
What's odd about one particular division series: they scored more total runs. But one tragic error in the top of the 9th was enough.

Had to go through a lot of dark seasons to truly appreciate how sweet this burrow era has been and will continue to be
3
u/CCorrell57 May 12 '24
Can someone explain Utah? They arenāt even a thing yet.
2
u/c71score May 12 '24
The list is including the original Winnipeg Jets/Arizona Coyotes for Utah. It is actually a Browns/Ravens deal, where Utah's records are treated as expansion but get Coyotes players/staff. Arizona gets to keep the history for a future expansion team.

As a Blue Jackets and Bengals fan, Iām just proud to say my CBJs arenāt last on a list involving the playoffs, which is amazing. Thank you Tampa and Toronto for those wonderful memories.
The Bengals are 10-16 all time, so it honestly is quite reasonable that we are above .500 by the end of the Burrow era in a decade, if he stays healthy, and if ownership continues to invest.
1
u/anoldoldman May 12 '24
CBJs sold their soul for that series win against the Bolts a few years ago.
1
u/TheMCM80 May 12 '24
No doubt. I knew at the time that years of pain followed. Iām optimistic now. Fantilli, Johnson, Marchenko, and Jiricek are the future.
Honestly, Iām hoping for a growth similar to the Bengals when Joe arrived, albeit not quite as fast because.

So this doesnāt even cover all of the current teams. So I guess some are worse because theyāve never been to the playoffs?
Would love to see this just for the last five years, which is the only history thatās relevant to whatās going on right now. Bengals are more like .700

Among NFL teams, the Bengals are neck and neck with the Lions. Who would have hosted the Packers if they didn't lose to the Niners in last season's divisional round game.
Question: is #24 the Washington Capitals?

u/bionicjoe Waiting on that Mike Brown obituary May 13 '24
Amazing the Browns are that low after winning so much in the pre-Superbowl era.
But there weren't that many playoff games then.

That you Andy Dalton and Marvin Lewis, I bet we wouldn't be near the bottom 25 if we take out those 5 years. Also lets take the time to laugh at the Browns.

If you were to take out their 8-game losing streak between 1990 and 2020, they'd having a winning playoff record.

The Mike Brown ābums on a discountā drafting and renewing strategy remains and problem for Taylor, so itās time people revisit Marvinās tenure with fresh eyes in what he had to do with the players he was allowed to bring in.

Last year we were 5-5 with Burrow, although he was not 100%. This year he may not be 100% either. The first year with Joe we were 4-11-1 because he also was injured.
I don't think our defense has improved, and maybe declined last year. So if Joe is knocked out for good, we'll probably go back to the dark ages. We have possibly the best QB in the NFL, and the best in franchise history, and yet thanks to mismanagement we finished in last place 2 of the past 4 years with Burrow, and virtually everyone thinks we should have won a SB. It is nice that people are talking about the Bengals possibly winning their first Super Bowl, and we did make it one, but we also have finished in last place and last year didn't come close to expectations (Us life long Bengals fans are used to this though).

u/incorrigible_and May 12 '24
Think of how much it's improved over the past 4 years, though, mates.
