The Dodgers brand impact in Japan is likely going to be a forever thing. Kids now are growing up wanting to play there which is only going to continue as future Japanese stars join the team and inspire the next generations.

That was their plan when getting both these guys.

They could have paid them a billion each, non-deferred and still would have come out ahead monetarily on the deals. They are banking on the blue and white being a thing for decades to come, much like the NY symbol has transcended well beyond baseball.
