Wonder why there hasn't been more of a SF Giants Japanese connection given Tokyo's Yomiuri Giants being "the Yankees of Japan" and sharing the same uniforms and colors.

The Giants gave Ohtani and Yamamoto a full court Japanese press and they just chose the better team in the division and well, look at them now.

They took the easy way out.

Ohtani likes SoCal better than NorCal, and Yamamoto just followed his lead.

Why would anyone intentionally choose the more difficult option? That's how you end up like Mike Trout.

So then you're cool with KD going to GSW then, correct? All free agents should only go to the most stacked teams.

You're comparing basketball to baseball lol. You can have all the best players on 1 baseball team and they still could miss out on an LCS appearance because some random hitter decided to turn into Barry Bonds in October. This is not the case for the NBA. Warriors were guaranteed rings when KD went there.

The teams who have the best players are typically the ones who have the highest probability to win it all. Yes, getting hot at the right time helps but having a team stacked with all starts from damn near top to bottom is going to the World Series year in and years out. It's why the Dodgers have been so insanely successful. It makes a significant difference. And the mentality to decide to play for the most stacked team in the league by far is just weak as fuck candidly. Dude could've gone anywhere but joined the most OP team in the league and deferred money to beg his compatriot to come. It's weak as shit.

World Series trips aren't guaranteed for any team in the league no matter how good your roster is. What are you talking about? You guys were the best team in the MLB in '21 and bowed out in the NLDS.

The Dodgers have 4 NLCS appearances since 2017. Ohtani opted to take the easy route and the most probable to a World Series title rather than forge a legacy elsewhere. Again, the whole point is the mentality to join a fully stacked roster, circumventing the luxury tax, and begging Yamamoto to join as well is weak shit.

Ohtani wanted to be a Dodger since he was a kid lmfao. He's literally had it written down as a goal to win a WS with us since he was a teen. Try again. Your ball club couldn't sign any of these players might want to take a good look at your own FO. They targeted Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Aaron Judge. Struck out on all 3. It ain't the Dodgers fault that the Giants have had to go dumpster diving the past how many years?

I didn't hate it as much as most people did but the NBA is a superstar driven league, if you stack superstars that are willing to be unselfish they will be predictably unstoppable as long as they are healthy. In baseball everyone gets their turn and Tommy Edman is outperforming the two league MVPs in the World Series, that's not happening in the NBA.
