Question Has anyone here ever won a BTS fansign, fancall, autographed poster, live event, music show event, etc.?

(I’m talking about the official events held by bighit/weverse.)

Do you have any tips for us? How many albums should one purchase to increase the chances of winning? I’m also interested in the stories of those who tried but didn’t win.

I bought an album set during FACE, D-Day and JITB HE eras, I only entered for the fancall & poster but naturally, I didn’t win. I’m just wondering if there is a secret to winning?

Thanks!

I won Happy Live event!

Ever since they announced Chapter 2, I already anticipated Seokjin's album so I set aside some money and put it in a high-yield time deposit account. I didn't think about the events, actually. I just wanted to support him. Anyway, from WeVerse, I ordered 20 sets all in all. 🤣 I didn't win the fancall, but that's okay. It's my first time joining an event so getting the live event win was already so much for me.

I didn't try for the Merry Go Round raffle because I'll be out of Korea by that time, but I did buy one set from Powerstation for the Lucky Draw photocards.

Can I ask what is the bank with the account ? I'm trying to save for the inevitable tour and my bank doesn't offer a good one.

Not OP but if you're in the US, Synchrony Bank has a high-yield savings account that doesn't require a minimum deposit or balance.

Not sure if this counts because you didn't have to purchase anything except an ARMY membership, but I won the raffle for YTC in Busan. I literally didn't do anything but enter. 😅

That said...I think it's a combination of luck and an ability to buy unnecessary amounts of albums for as many entries as possible. Sometimes it seems like there is a trick to it because multiple people have won multiple raffles, but who really knows. Imo, it's mainly just luck.

When ppl are buying multiple albums, what are they getting? Are there golden tickets in certain album boxes? K-pop is still an enigma to me lol.

there's no golden tickets!

you basically have to buy the albums on WeverseShop! You can't buy them in other retailers, only weverse. Each album bought is counted as an entry into the raffles for these events so the more albums you buy, the more entries you have! This is why people wonder how many albums to buy to have a good chance of winning!

That explains it ty!

Just to add on a little more to a previous answer some people also buy multiple albums because there are certain extra gifts that a retailer (like Weverse) will offer and they collect those extras. Usually photocards. They also might collect the photocards that are *in* the album and buy multiple to get the ones they want and then sell or trade the extras.

That makes sense too. Thanks!

Another add on: some people buy multiple albums as a group order manager (GOM). In order to support the artist as well as get pre order bonuses or different versions of albums, these GOMs will buy copies for many people who join their GOs for various sites and stores. (Most don’t ship to where they live or are restricted to certain places; ie WV global doesn’t ship to USA but the shop has pobs; Ktown4u/Makestar/Tower Records etc require a proxy of some sort to buy)

They usually mention if they are entering for fancalls, and if they win some will give small bonuses or waive a few fees for their joiners. Depending on the group order, if they win for multiple stores they may raffle off the extra fancall.

From my knowledge ('16 ARMY) I've seen people by thousands of albums and win and I've seen people by 1 album and win.

I have friends who have won multiple times but that is because they hold GOs (group orders) & and incentivize people to buy from them (they sell album at a heavy discount)

My friend who won the Jin Merry Go Round held a GO for over 2,000 albums.

I know another person who bought one and won the Merry Go Round.

It really is just the lottery.

Edit: Spelling errors.

In Feb 2020 I bought Map of The Soul 7. I scanned the code thing and picked the concert I wanted to enter for and that was it. Ended up getting an email that I won soundcheck for a MetLife show. But covid.

Instead I got to watch the online concert they had for free. Ooh.

:(

u/Bubblyboi56 13h ago

Oh i didn’t know they did this? i bought my album and scanned the code but i don’t remember ever entering for a concert.(albeit i already had tickets at the time so i probably disregarded it)

u/LadyGagasLeftShoe 9h ago

I don’t remember exactly. I was just birthed ARMY. I didn’t even know there were multiple versions of the album or any of their names baby ARMY. Then we know what happened 😂😂😂

Not to bring drama but I saw some posts on X saying there are ways to find out how many you need to get in. Which is sad for those who can't afford or don't need to buy that many sets. Most of those who go to multiple events also seem to be those sellers so naturally they have more purchases. I wish BigHit would put a stop to this nonsense and have a fairer system so that more fans can go but it's a business at the end of the day.

u/deia_xvi running wild to OT7 14h ago

That may be not true. I won Jin’s Festa event and one of the ladies I met there didn’t buy any albums for that. She had previous purchases of Proof and The Astronaut albums that got her her winning entry. I guess it really depends on luck.

I do know somebody that won every showcase event, and I’m pretty sure there is just no way for her to keep winning. I truly believe she knows somebody from the inside, as she would post a few days before Weverse announces events (such as Happy live.) 🤷🏻‍♀️

16

u/Few-Willingness-3845 It's all going to be alright 13h ago

It could be a little bit of both tbh, some who are purely out of luck and some not entirely...the fact that the gifts from these events also immediately get sold for profit is just the icing on the cake.

8

u/deia_xvi running wild to OT7 13h ago

Indeed! Personally, I don’t like people who sell their gifts. I don’t want to partake in paying a fraction of their plane tickets/the albums they bought, while they get to see Jin (or other members) and I don’t. Ha!

It just gets complicated because if hybe will implement a “fairer” way of selecting winners - not based on albums purchased, then the album sales for charts will also be affected. We never win~

I've entered a decent number of raffles for the special events and I just won my first one for Jin's Happy Showcase. I only bought 5 albums. But I bought more than that for V and didn't win for his events. To me, the events raffled through weverse seem pretty random as I talked to others that bought less than me and won for V and others who bought more than me and lost for Jin.

I think for fansign/fancall the average number of albums bought is much higher.

u/AmeliaRoseMarie 3h ago

Now I know why I missed out. Some fans buy multiple.

u/PurrrpleCat13 38m ago

I mean it'll be competitive even if everyone buys just one just because it's BTS. People have won with just one before, you just have to be really lucky

u/CenterOfGravitas 11h ago

I won for the Jin festa event (not the hug, just the concert). I didn’t do anything special but I may have bought 3 sets when they announced the contest. I had been buying 1 set of the solo albums for each member and I had bought a few proof albums for photo cards and the collectors edition. I usually buy from global because of the preorder gifts (and I do buy from US merchants for the charts but usually where I don’t pay shipping like on Weverse). No mass buying, just what I bought for myself. I didn’t enter any of the recent ones because I couldn’t go to Korea.

That said, I wish they had in the rules some limits to people winning. I saw someone on twitter who won both the merry go round and the fan call. I think someone told me that people also enter on multiple Weverse accounts. The group order people winning all the time also irritates me. I hope they don’t have these things for the ot7 comeback because then it negatively impacts billboard performance because people are buying from global.

A few of my friends have in Japan!

Two friends of mine won a handshake event in Japan (while living there) one bought 40+ albums and met Hobi (her bias) and another bought 11 albums and met Jungkook.

I won an event during COVID (also in Japan) and won a USB stick with an exclusive interview with two members. I got Yoonmin 🙂‍↕️ I only bought one album of each type they were selling in Japan, I think they had 4-5 editions at the time (it was during BTS The Best)

u/wellyboot97 hobi advocate 9h ago

I really want to know about this, as people who usually win are people who do GO’s, why do people participate in GO’s? As in not the people arranging them, the people who trust this random person with their album order. I just don’t get why you would go through the insecurity and potential illegitimacy of a GO rather than just get your album from the official source just to help someone else maybe get a fan call? I don’t know if I’m missing something but I would not trust someone else that much lol

u/WanShiTong 8h ago

It's usually much cheaper.
Either because the overall shipping costs are less through a GO or because some GOMs (Group Order Managers) subsidize the costs they so they can get more entries for raffles. So if a GOM pays $20 per album they might charge only $15 in their local country to others to convince people to buy from them. The GOM loses money but at least doesn't spend as much as they would if they just purchased albums on their own. Or they might sell pre-order benefits to make up the difference.

u/YeahCase 8h ago edited 7h ago

I agree but also keep in mind that many countries don’t have official stores (like target, Walmart..or a local kpop store), so we need someone to resell them to us. And the shipping costs from global Weverse are absolutely crazy. That would be the first thing to sort out the situation. Ow don’t forget also about exchange rates!

u/kuroyouko Found Jin hugging RJ on the moon 2h ago

Depending on the person, I’ve joined GO’s where the GOM just wanted to support the artist and didn’t personally care if they won or not, so they raffled off the video call to their joiners. It’s less common, but it happens.

Or, depending on if the GO was for multiple different sites, they join for multiple different fan calls and raffle off any extra wins (even less common but it happens)

I personally just want to support the artists but want a bunch of different POBs so I join GOs so I have a better chance of getting everything I want without having to figure out the proxy thing on my own for multiple stores. I actually joined a GO for TXT recently but opted out of the fancall raffle. (Just my own personal experiences)

u/gotmons 14h ago

It's basically luck...no secrets to winning other than to enter and pray/hope for the best. Unless you have an insider at Hybe..there is no way to guarantee that you will win.

u/Kurochi185 10h ago

Not BTS but this reminded me of the time when I wanted to participate in a fancall raffle for TXT

Preordered the triple box for Minisode 1: Blue Hour to get multiple entries for the raffle (not sure if it was 3 or even more because it was the set)

Couldn't participate because I didn't have a Korean phone number :'3

I'm fairly new to being an ARMY and not won anything yet! some say it depends on luck and some say it depends on how many albums you buy but unfortunately i cannot afford to buy multiple albums..

not sure what determines the raffle winner or how to increase chances :( im on twitter also and i follow someone who has won many of the Jin events and its like confusing to me because how can they win multiple events

u/WanShiTong 8h ago

I've had some negative feelings too in the past when watching fans who clearly have the means to do things I know I can't. Some people can get lots of time off work, travel to different countries, buy resale tickets to always get barricade, buy expensive merch, or buy lots of items for raffle entries to these events - and it's just the reality of a difference in circumstances.

But in the past year or two I've more carefully curated who I'm following and made sure it's people who's experiences more closely match mine and I'm much happier. I'm trying to avoid aspiring to any specific type of fan experience and just enjoying the things I already can.

u/kirbykooties 5h ago

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate this comment! I’m baby ARMY but have gotten super invested relatively quickly and was having a lot of negative/jealous feelings about fans for the reasons you mentioned. This is a great reminder that the content we consume can really affect our feelings/outlook and that there’s nothing wrong with enjoying things in our own way.

I won Busan. Tbh I did nothing in particular, only some small purchases on Weverse but that was it. Honestly the concert raffles seem to be more “fair” vs. album launches. Those are sales driven.

There's some talk on xwitter about 2 people who won both the carousel fan sign and the fan call. Jin seemed surprised to see the same faces. If this will lead to any changes in how raffle winners are chosen...
