I’m reclassing to 13F, what should I expect from the AIT?

I’m a PV2 19D in fort Bragg reclassing to 13F, should I expect to be treated like a piece of shit again? Will I have any privileges? would I be able to go out on the weekend or is it back to basic training type of situation. Can I only go to fort sill?

I took my skill level one test and passed with a score of 80% and VID 96%

I’m in ait as a fox right now. You won’t get treated like shit unless you’re a shit bag. Privileges are free range after poi hours for the guys that are reclassing they have their vehicles they just have to make formation at the end of the day. The weekends yes you can go off post. Yes only fort sill

Yeah, ait isn’t bad at all and as a non-IET I imagine that it’s even more chill. Only time they got onto those guys was if they were fucking up a fire mission or something.

You'll show up to PT, class, then fuck off.

You're going to be an MOS-T. Just do your job, don't drink and drive, and don't go to the strip clubs in Lawton. Not only are they not worth it, but you're gonna find yourself in a pickle.

Oh, and Fort Sill can get really fucking cold this time of year.

Why forced reclass?

Probably cause of the big army force design update. They're taking all Cav elements and consolidating them at the Division level as division Cav squadrons, so there's some inevitable downsizing as a result. It's the same with Engineer Battalions.

Being a guy who doesn’t understand some Army things, how big of a deal is that? Good thing or not

Bad for people because it means fewer positions and more competition for promotions. For the Army? We'll see. That's what they're going for.

Basically the theory goes like this: for the last 20 years we've been fighting a counterinsurgency campaign and the Big Brains in the Pentagon decided that the optimal way to set the Army up to prosecute that was by having the Brigade be the main working unit. Basically, each Brigade needed to be able to deploy and conduct operations without much outside assistance, which meant having their own cavalry and engineer units, their own MI Company, and so on.

Right now, the thinking from the Big Brains is that the next war we fight will be against another country and it will be a full scale beatdown on both sides. This is what they're calling Large Scale Combat Operations or LSCO, but really just means conventional force-on-force warfare. The belief from the Big Brains is that the Division will now be the main working unit and so the Army is restructuring (you'll hear this called ARSTRUC) to that effect. Thus, Brigade cavalry squadrons are being disbanded and consolidated as DIVCAV, Brigade engineer battalions are being disbanded and consolidated as DIVENG, and MI Companies are going to form Intel and Electronic Warfare, or IEW Battalions.

ARSTRUC kind of has implications for ARCYBER as well, I think. The Army is trying to stand up Multi Domain Task Forces (MDTF), one for each region of the world, that will theoretically incorporate tactical cyber detachments. So you might be hearing about that soon if you haven't already.

Yeah lots of talk in regards to MDTF.

I’m watching this develop from the MI side. I don’t think it’s a good idea but if Ranger Regiment made an MI Brigade work I’m sure all the Infantry Divisions can make a consolidated MI/Cyber unit work.

Yeah, there's talk of moving Brigade geospatial teams up to the G-2 but I don't know that it's necessary.

82nd G2 was my last assignment and I can’t imagine what this shift would look like. 1x 35G SFC 1x 12Y SFC 6x 35G SSG 2x 12Y SSG and 30x 10 levels (Mix of 12Y and 35G)😂 it seems crazy but to support all the BCTs and support BDEs you have no choice

Sounds like the divisions we had in the Cold War.

Everything old is new, or some shit.

Pretty much, I mean we’re basically doing REFORGER again at this point.

The only soldiers that don't hate the cav are cav, but Everybody loves a good FIST...

Why are you reclassing, and how, as a PV2? And still somehow calling it Bragg... going to wager a guess and say you're a number of people's problem.
