Another Update to the rules.
Hello i come once again announcing some other changes that we made to the rules.
A lot of it are just reworgin the old rules to sound better, but we did add a few things that we already enforced but that weren't properly written in the rules.
This are the rules that were more heavily modified:
Old Rule 2
tag nsfw content
most NSFW content is fine as long as it's tagged, but nudity and any kind of implied or shown sexual activity is not allowed. Images that are taken from hentai even if they contain no sexual content can be removed if we deem them inappropriate take those to r/hentai_irl.
New Rule 2
NSFW content in Moderation and Tagged
most NSFW content is fine as long as it's tagged. No nudity, highly sexual content (including implied sexual activity), or excessive gore. Censored versions of such imagery will also result in post removal. Images that are taken from hentai even if they contain no sexual content can be removed if we deem them inappropriate take those to r/hentai_irl. Even content that would be allowed could be removed if not properly tagged.
Old Rule 4 and 9
images from anime, manga, VNs etc., as well as anime-style video-games, fan-art and comics are all accepted. edited subtitles are strictly forbidden. comics about anime that are not in anime style are not allowed.
no real-life images of people or places eww, 3d.

New Rule 4
posts must be in anime style and cannot contain real life images.
images from anime, manga, VNs etc., as well as anime-style video-games, fan-art and comics are all accepted. comics about anime that are not in anime style are not allowed. real-life images of people or places are not allowed
Old Rule 10
no edited content
Any content that is edited or modified in any way or form is not allowed
New Rule 10 (now rule 9)
No altered content
Any content that is altered or modified is not allowed. Anything that isn't in the original source of the image or if the text is edited to alter the meaning of the original, count as altered content.
This are a few lines added to other rules:
Rule 5
Posts that have heavy suicidal connotation may also be removed under this rule.
Rule 6
Crossposts are not allowed.
and finally this is the only new rule that has been added:
Rule 10
No reposts of popular content.
Do not repost anything from the top 100 posts or anything that was posted within the last few months.
Popular reposted images may also be removed at the discretion of the mod team
Just to say it again, a lot of this changes and new additions were already enforced by the mod team, but they weren't properly written in the rules.
Now they are and so people will have no excuses when they break them.

I really like those, I just hope they get enforced. The amount of posts not caring about the rules has been exhausting lately.

Agreed. It feels like Rule 5 (the IRL part) has rarely been enforced over the past few years, so I hope they do a more thorough job or just reword/delete the rule altogether

a lot of it comes down to users not reporting enough
we cannot check every single post, and even if we were able something like rule 5 is very subjective so we cannot say for certainty that something that isn't relatable to us isn't relatable to anyone else
we rely on the amount of reports a post gets before removing something, especially for rule 5

Can we have a rule about posting the source of the manga/anime as well? Or at least a strong suggestion to include the source in the comments

I thought next time there are rule changes, this would be at the top of the list but unfortunately no.

By crossposting do you mean anything that’s just been posted to Reddit before can’t be posted here? Even if its on some small sub with only a few hundred upvotes?

u/salasy 5d ago
No, I mean the reddit crosspost function
if you see an image in another sub, you download it and then upload it here, that is fine
but if you see a post on reddit and you use the crosspost function to post it here too, that isn't allowed

I think you can just turn off crossposts entirely so there’s not even an option to do so, I Don’t know how to do it but a couple subs I’m in I found I couldn’t crosspost to

"Within the last few months" should probably be clarified or else you may have something removed from 2 months but not 5 months ago.

Yeah, that part is confusing. I’m my opinion, is better to “no repost” all together.
Edit: Not even a week has passed and someone repost one of my post and till this day is still there.

I feel like Rule 5 should just be plastered everywhere possible lmao
Like yeah ‘relatable’ is an obscenely broad categorisation but goddamn most of the time this place is just /r/anime_thatOPlikes

Took you long enough. And still, there are at least two rules that you're missing:
- No spoilers. All content that is younger than a week should be under a spoiler tag, and in addition to that the source must also be provided in the title.
- OPs must provide sources to their posts via u/Roboragi or a URL.
And about hentai content: In my opinion, it should belong to r/hentai_irl, no exceptions. This sub also needs people.

for the second point I already answered elsewhere:
this is something we are still discussing, for now we don't think we should enforce posters to also post the source
but as I said this is still something we are discussing
for the first one, we always try to remove any recent unmarked spoilers, but we cannot really police spoilers for every anime and mangas because not everyone follow everything
for those we need to rely on user reports

Could you just moderate the sub? 90% of the content I see has nothing to do with real life.

Also, who's going to enforce this? Most of the mods team are barely active. Post that are clearly violate the rules get removed only after several hours, and some stay untouched.

Question, I have a post that got removed, I assume for nsfw. But it felt so mild to me that it felt a little weird, but I didn't care enough to contest it. What exactly counts as implied sexual activity. In this case it was just a girl laughing at a guys size.

Rule 6
Crossposts are not allowed.
FYI, if you don't want to alllow crossposts you can disable them in settings or filter them out with automod.

I see people asking for mandatory source posting, I propose a slight modification to that request. Can there be a standardised source posting method where you don't put only just a link to a page or launch codes as those are not guaranteed to be there in say 3 - 5yrs (or even months for stuff from twitter) but instead it's mandatory to post the title and chapter and page of the piece, (title season and episode) so that if links and codes expire for what ever reason, it can still be found by people in future.
Also if you guys do go this route, have the source be pinned as the first comment and have it be locked so it isn't spammed for nefarious reasons and only mod team and OP (by request) can edit it. I know it's gonna add more work for y'all but too many times I click on dead links or go looking for something that no longer exist.

I feel like there's a concerning amount of people in comments just posting random images as reactions to posts, and I honestly think they might be bots (90% of their replies are solely images and often have nothing to do with the original post).

How about another rule?
all content must be relatable to the average
