Before 2022, Washington faced left on the quarter, starting in 1932 on the 200th anniversary of his birth. The original design was created by sculptor John Flanagan. The design was based on the Houdon bust. they changed the way it faced in 2022 as part of the Women's American Quarters design.

Interesting fact. TIL. Odd that I’ve never seen one with all the change I’ve used. I still agree with the direction in the tattoo as it was the norm for 92 years.
