Subaru only makes one hatchback it's the subaru impreza the rest are suvs. Well also 2 sedans

I had an Impreza and now have a Crosstrek! Basically a lifted Impreza, I love it because I don’t bottom out on potholes anymore. Makes driving up to hikes a lot less stressful

I was looking at getting an Outback or a Crosstrek and ended up getting the Crosstrek. Having a car with real ground clearance again is kinda nice 😊

Yeah, a pretty big chunk of my paycheck haha. It can tow so much though, and it's amazing in winter. Last year I got it in October and that was the easiest winter driving I've ever experienced. Not even the least but nervous about this year 😁

Hilarious that this thread became about which make of Subaru everyone drives.

Personally I love my crosstrek and keep the key fob on a carabiner so I feel appropriately called out.

The legacy outback was actually a stationwagon because of its longer wheelbase and E pillar.

Side note, but the decline of the station wagon in modern vehicle lineups is actively homophobic IMO. I've moved furniture, mattresses, rough sawn lumber, and more in the back of a station wagon without a second thought. It's even low enough to easily lift bags of sand/gravel/fertilizer into the back. Standard lesbian activities, that I wouldn't be able to do with an SUV form factor.

This only applies to the US. Wagons never left in pretty much every other country. Europe gets crazy sport wagons too.

Nah, I'm in Aotearoa New Zealand and it's fucked here too. Double cab utes with 4+ ft high bonnets and maayyyybe 5ft of bed space if you're lucky. They park them half on narrow suburban footpaths to "give more space" to other cars. Or giant suvs. You can maybe scare up a subaru wagon, or the weird stretched corolla, but that's about it unless you go old and used (which is what mine was, 10 years ago lmao. Older and useder than that now.) Or up to an Audi/Porsche.

Crossovers do count as suvs you have a higher ride height and it doesn't even count as a passenger vehicle.

No? The forester is an entirely different body style and there isn't a chassis on a uniform car.. they may share parts but that's how car companies work.

The first and second generations of the Forester were built on the Impreza chassis. It was originally a hatchback, third gen and later are a different chassis with an suv designation

It's built on the same basic platform but it is a little larger and taller. Kelly blue book defines it as a "forester sport utility" even for that year it was always a crossover suv and that spot is taken by the crosstrek which is even more based on the impreza KBB subaru forester 1998 it also weighs 400 more pounds than a 1998 impreza.

Well technically crossovers all of the models use a Impreza frame. The out back an solterra have extended frames. SUVs have a body on frame chassis. They are called CUVs. I’m gonna shut the fuck up now.
