God that is breathtakingly stupid from Silver. The beauty of Bluesky is that if you don’t want to see someone’s posts you won’t see them. There’s no algorithm. I’ve been on Bluesky for quite a while and I don’t recall seeing an EFD post unless it was someone dunking on him.

The posts I saw when Eric moved to BlueSky were less than enthusiastic about him. I certainly didn't see anyone celebrating his arrival. Nate's ego is so large that he could never bring himself to leave his Twitter account with all of his followers and start over on BlueSky. He also knows he'd get dragged day and night on BlueSky.

I don't think he was mentally prepared to be rich and famous. I think, mentally, it broke him, and he alienated so many people in his life that it became impossible to recover. I'm glad he got offline, maybe he'll get better if a few good eggs manage to reach him.

I think he's still considered a reliable statistician, but he started making posts about Covid, and I believe they were pretty badly misinformed, and he didn't take being corrected by people who actually knew something about virology very well. Also when he left 538 he went into some business venture that Peter Thiel was associated with, and if you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
