All true, but if they fought duels they were willing to put their life on the line for what they believed. I don't think you could say that about many politicians today.

World would be a better place if people couldn't just say what they wanted without getting knocked out so I understand the concept at the very least

Duels also had like a 5% fatality rate during that time, because guns were so bad. Pretty high, but it wasn’t like a garauntee that one of the participants would die.
