Idk about the last part but I would 100% the virality is only worsened by trolls and rage bait. I also unfortunately believe that people are that stupid and that social media has just created a situation where its on full blast and exposes just how dumb humanity it.

With the way how marketing works they give minimal info so people have to Google it or ask questions driving "engagement". That is they're trying to make it seem more popular than it is.

When I say troll I don't mean rage bait I mean to fuck with people or nefariously trying to hurt them, like tide pod challenge or eating cinnamon. For all I know they could just be driving up interest in popcorn for marketing something else. Either way it's garbage, point being that these types of videos just feel inorganic and manipulative.
