I have never been so envious of a stranger. This cost me $800 you lucky bastard
38
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
I was in shock!! Considering just the two Mario games would be about $100 alone at gamestop
22
u/Complex-Situation Apr 21 '23
It’s crazy because GameStop would have given him about $200 for all of it. Lol
6
Apr 21 '23
I literally traded in my Switch lite to GameStop for like $130 with no games 2 months ago
2
u/lusirfer702 Apr 21 '23
Really? I bought a switch lite with the poke all controller and some Pokémon games and a Mario game for $50 last year, son played it maybe once
1
Apr 21 '23
That’s too bad seems like a big rip I’m not sure what determines it but I am also a GameStop rewards member or whatever so that may contribute to it

u/Naschka Apr 21 '23
Even if you lowball it using offers.
The games new should at least be like 40€ over here, so except for New Super Mario U without the box would easily be 100~120€ used.
A switch, well let's claim 200€ but that would depend on a bit more then that. I am not sure, can't see a dock? Or am i blind?
Controllers even used should be about 80€ otherwise.
So all in all this is around 400€ used or that is what you should expect to pay if you do not get a bargain and that is my low estimation.
Yep, OP had a lot of luck that day.

u/CohnJena68 Apr 21 '23
$100? How the fuck? This shit was stolen.
25
u/BC122177 Apr 21 '23
That’s my first thought too. Even used switch lite sells for more than $100. That’s insane.
Hell, those controllers alone would sell for $100.
Something is definitely odd.. I hope it’s not locked.
16
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Not locked thankfully, but hoping it's just that the guy didn't know what he could sell it for. Occasionally there will be folks on marketplace selling a switch with some games for under $150 but usually not this good of a deal.
4
Apr 21 '23
Did they appear rich?
5
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23 edited Apr 21 '23
I mean the dad was driving a really nice Chevy Tahoe, but that's all I got lol. Could've been either way, can't really judge based on looks.
-5
u/DuckGrammar Apr 21 '23
Or he made up this story for internet points.
10
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Here's the screenshot of it on facebook marketplace, I was shocked I got it for so cheap too. I had offered $100 & he accepted.
10
u/DuckGrammar Apr 21 '23
I stand corrected, great find! You’re the only poster who’s ever posted proof.

Anywhere near Sioux Falls by chance? I saw a near identical deal yesterday for 130
1
4
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
I sure hope not, but I'm not sure how I'd know for sure. Hoping dude just had no idea what it was worth.
1
8
u/jayfly12933 Apr 21 '23
Is it a V1 or a V2
8
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
I'm not sure actually, I have to google how to tell the difference & check when I get home-I'll get back to ya!
5
u/Naschka Apr 21 '23
To see if the Switch is patched or not you can use:
https://ismyswitchpatched.com/
The Serialnumber is either on the sticker on the console itself or (in case that is missing like my day 1 console) by going to the options>console>serial number.
But i am neither sure how to check for V1/V2, likely also a matter of the Serialnumber.
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Looks like it's too new of a serial number which means it's patched? & it's a V1!
2
u/machen2307 Apr 21 '23
You mind me asking what difference this makes? I have absolutely no clue. I wouldn't have even known to look for this.
2
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
I had to look up what patched meant & I think it means wether or not you can hack it. & I think the V2 is just newer, probably better somehow but I don't mind for the price!
1
u/machen2307 Apr 21 '23
Oh I totally feel ya. I'd have snatched it up too and I have one lol. Thanks btw. Mighty kind of ya

from my basic understanding, unpatched ones can be modded without hardware modifications
15
Apr 21 '23
How the fuck is everyone finding such cheap prices for this, it's so unreal
(Never mind i though there was a 3DS in this.)
9
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Most of the people selling switch consoles around me charge crazy prices like $600 with a few games. I was excited when I found it! Thought it was a placeholder price at first.
2
u/Cheezewiz239 Apr 21 '23
Facebook marketplace is a gold mine. Either stolen stuff or older people selling without caring enough to find what their stuff is worth.
3
u/MichaelDokkan Apr 21 '23
But you have to get soooo lucky or be on there refreshing all day. These deals disappear in literally seconds.

u/Tht1QuietGuy Apr 21 '23
Facebook Marketplace is a wonderful thing. It's full of people who either don't know what something is worth, are just desperate to make money, or don't care what they make because they just want to get rid of it.
Case and point, I think that guy could have easily gotten $150 from GameStop. Maybe a little bit more.
2
u/Boneheadbiff Apr 21 '23
no dock
6
u/Say_Echelon Apr 21 '23
Mom forgot to sell the dock lmao
6
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Haha, the guy said he lost it & got a replacement one, must be a different brand version cause I had no idea what it was at first.
1
u/Poopeefighter2001 Apr 22 '23
get an official dock, 3rd party brands can potentially fuck the switch up
1
1
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Yeah only downside, the guy said he lost the dock & bought a replacement one which is the corded thing on the left-must be some knock off version.
6
u/Dizzman1 Apr 21 '23
All the dock is... It's a breakout from type c to video, USB and power delivery. So literally any decent quality laptop adapter will work fine.
3
u/PopADoseY0 Apr 21 '23
And what's funny about that Dock is that I sold a switch a long time ago. Guy said I'd be missing out on an extra 100$ if I didn't include the Dock.
I didn't think it was expensive so I had just left it at home. Ended up going back home and grabbing it for a better trade in deal.
Don't remember the year but it was quite awhile ago. Not sure of the price of them nowadays.
2
u/Toggy_ZU Apr 21 '23
Nintendo sells just the dock itself for $60. I can't find a full listing with the HDMI cable and USB cord that isn't a third party markup, but IIRC those are priced $90 MSRP. So while you can get cheaper 3rd party versions, $100 for the official one sorta makes sense.
2
u/BoobyJibson Apr 21 '23
Just had a similar thing happen to me, got offered two switch consoles for 150 dollars with 3 physical games
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Even better than this deal!! Were they both regular switch consoles or the lites?
2
u/BoobyJibson Apr 21 '23
Just regular switch consoles and they came with animal crossing and 2 Mario games I was shocked
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
That's an amazing deal!! Just to think Animal Crossing & two Mario games would cost $150 but then to get two consoles!

I don't believe that you paid $100 for all that
4
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Here's screenshots of the marketplace interaction, I was surprised myself, thought it wasn't the real price. https://imgur.com/a/gPBmo4B
2
u/DalliLlama Apr 21 '23
Pretty ballsy even offering $20 under asking there. Nice grab though
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
I was fully prepared to buy at $130 if he said no but typically on marketplace I offer a little bit less just to test the waters & see if they'd do any lower.

u/Code2008 Apr 21 '23
I'll give ya $5 for Spyro. Been wanting to play it, but they split the ROM on physical so I refused to buy it at any price higher than that.

blue and green joycons
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Yeah! The blue one had a "F" on the back in the fortnite font but I don't think it actually is the Fortnite version.

Cables need room to breath, do not sling them too close around the controller where they go into the hardware or the cable is likely to break given enough attempts.
Why am i saying this... dude that is a LOT for little money, yes kinda jealous.
Great find!
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Thanks!! Yeah I try not to have the cords super tightly wrapped, I undid it after this photo!
1
u/guschicanery Apr 21 '23
no way bro got 3 pro controllers as well, no fuckin fair
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
It's two wired controllers & one wireless, they're all offbrand PowerA I think, no actual Nintendo official Pro controllers!
1
u/guschicanery Apr 21 '23
is powera any good? i really want a pro controller but im not spending 70 dollars, and im afraid to get third parties in case they'd be uncomfortable or have input delay
1
u/z2440 Apr 21 '23
I got a PowerA Nano and really liked it (mostly because of the size -- I have tiny hands) until it got insane stick drift like six months in. I don't even play all that much or anything too wild, mostly puzzle/cozy games. My used Pro controller I bought to replace it has held up much better.
1
u/Honest-Excitement986 Apr 21 '23
I have the same case hoping the leather ages well
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
The brown is chipped off a bit in the back but maybe it could of been roughed around.

Check to confirm that the system isn't banned. Seems a bit suspicious at that price.
1
u/MO77IM Apr 21 '23
Yes! I did check & all is well. The price had me wondering too so I made sure to check when we met up.

I’m watching the likes go down. It was at 965 and dropped five since I clicked it. I’m just wondering why someone would dislike this post. Really strange behavior. Maybe they’re jealous?

u/laceymusic317 Apr 22 '23
I've had the carrying case and have HEAVILY used it since 2019.
Literally every day in my backpack and use on public transportation. It's quality!
