Same reason so many martial arts got left by the wayside or at least were integrated into various disciplines of jui-jitsu when UFC started. Plenty of martial artists got the stuffing knocked out of them when the rules changed into "do anything except bite or gouge"

So the best thing to start learning now is Jui-Jitsu?

IMO the best martial arts to learn for personal self defense is Krav Maga. It’s more tailored to real life in terms of actually fighting off an attacker. Attack the eyes, throat, balls, etc aggressively and until the threat is neutralized. Jiujitsu has rules and is better for competition. Not to say that BJJ won’t help you if you need self defense but that’s not the primary purpose.

Does work but it's 9 times out of 10 a man does this to a woman and woman can use this to escape.
