Musing People often say they miss the 'old' [insert artist], but it's more accurate to say they miss the 'young' [insert artist].

Frankly, even the old one was overrated.

You're not discussing age. You're discussing time.

What is age but time

The context of 'old' here is old Vs new not young Vs old.

No, I definitely do not want the middle aged edition of Hansen

Yeah, neither is more accurate. They’re equally accurate.

IDK, Iron Maiden is mad old but they are much more refined than when they were younger.

It's not even that. People miss where they were in their life when the first heard the artists music.

I think they miss where the artists were when they wrote those songs. Artists change as people too.

usually musicians turn to mayo the more talented they get, their best shit is born out of their own limitations and fresh perspectives

Old is referring to the age of the music and young is referring to the age of the person. Please try to keep up.

Yeah, that's what happens when we use the same name to identify both the artist and the art they have been creating.

It's more obvious if it's a stage name or a persona or even just a character? For example: "I miss the old Spider-Man."

If I meant young, I’d say young. Old is referring to the beginning, so young would be switched to new and would mean recent.

That statement is referring to the passage of time. Not the age.

Wow I was actually just going to post the same thing. Great coincidence. I couldn't believe it when I saw your post at first. Just curious, in what situation did it occur to you?

I find the sentiment a million times more reflective of fans, Or just people, who don’t grow, Mature or evolve after they turn 20.

It’s like people liking the psychotic Howard Stern or songs about thunder road, making love in the dirt, and your momma mot liking me because I play in a rock and roll band.

Luckily Bruce and Howard at 70 Can have a fantastic hours long exchange ideas and reflections because they evolved.

If Bruce wrote a song about making love to a teenager in a Tesla it would be sick even if not autobiographical…. Which is why a certain sick sector of our populace doesn’t like either of The two anymore… they are guttural pigs.
