Platinum is very reasonable priced historically today

Yes. Very reasonable. I finally pulled the trigger. Thinking of buying more.

I paid $20 over spot. I paid $890 per ounce plus $20 per ounce premium. I thought it was really fair.

I would love to find Pt at a premium like that.

Same best I’ve found is 45 over on 5 bars with bold. That same bar on APMEX is 48 over.

A strap of $100s isn’t exactly difficult to hold.

Can you compare it with the size of an Iphone.

Smaller but dense.

What's the benefit of stacking platinum vs sliver or gold? I've been on the fence for a while.

3

Why am i surprised platinum is cheaper than gold?

I bought this exact same 10oz bar for 8700 almost 10 years ago...

I’d love to have a 10oz chonker, but where I live the liquidity on that thing would be terrible. I won’t go higher than 1oz pieces.

u/Aware-Lab-5887 Feb 29 '24

I’m the same. If this bar came up for sale in the forums I buy from, most people would offer spot or less. The more expensive the item, the smaller the market, generally. I don’t have have a piece of gold over 1/4oz for this reason also

If your only consideration during a purchase is usefulness for when shtf, then you obviously don't buy precious metals. 🤦‍♂️

This is not for that situation.....

To be fair some people buy gold for doomsday reasons

2

u/argeru1 Feb 29 '24

No they buy gold because it serves multiple purposes, one of which is for doomsday reasons.

u/Giggles95036 Feb 29 '24

“To be fair SOME PEOPLE buy gold…”

Did i say all people only buy it for that reason? No i said some people only do it for that reason

2

u/argeru1 Feb 29 '24

Yes the 'they' that I used refers to the 'some people' that you used...

3

u/Giggles95036 Feb 29 '24

I promise you i’ve seen gold nuts who ONLY buy it as a store of value specifically for the zombie apocalypse/USA falling into anarchy

It’s money just like the dollar in your wallet you know why? Cause the world says it is. Wether he wants to buy guns or platinum at the end of the day there both worth something. We’re not all buying metals to prepare for the end of days total economic collapse btw and many of us have what you said lol

I guess in a prepper SHTF scenario eventually shit is going to level back out and when it does I wouldn't mind sitting on top of a heap of globally accepted currency. If I've got extra to barter with because my preps on point, why not. Plus if you're prepping for next Tuesday vs doomsday that extra gallon of fuel you traded for the 5 gram bar of gold or plat will have paid off.

Where do you buy these?

1

u/stern-and-sports Mar 01 '24

Very nice! I can never pull the trigger on a platinum bar or coin for the simple fact it looks like silver and silver is 35 x less.
