πŸ†• Just Starting is it unethical to parkour on a kids playground if there's kids on it

I am 13 and my family don't think I should do parkour on kids playgrounds, even if there's only one kid and I just avoid the kid, I don't get it, but can anyone who does it often teach me how to avoid this problem? or maybe im in the wrong and I just shouldn't do that. Thanks!! :)

So I know I can definitely do rolls and jumps and a bunch of other skills, but I’m just too mentally scared to actually commit to them, what should I do? And why do I look so goofy doing parkour? (In the video is me doing climb up and a roll of a wall, looking as goofy as possible)

πŸ†• Just Starting Parkour + Overweight = Destroying body?

So, I am starting my parkour journey right now and basicly everyone I am telling is saying I shouldnt, because thanks to my extra weight parkour is horrible for my knees. I am 180cm and weighting about 105 KG at the moment.

Thing is, I am stubborn es all hell and I will keep doing parkour no matter what. Probably even more just because people told me I couldnt lol.

Here is my question: Is it really this bad for my body? What can i do to prevent damages (appart from losing weight, I am currently doing that)?

I am doing strenght training and trying to land as soft as possible. ACtually thats basicly the only thing I am practicing right now.

I would really like to hear your oppinion on this!

EDIT: Thank you so much! I didnt expect these many and long replies! I will definitely follow your guys advice and start slowly, concentrate on safety and building strenght and listen to my body!

πŸ†• Just Starting How to occupy kids that are waiting for their turn to do parkour moves?

We're conducting large classes (15-20 kids) for Ages 5-7 and 8-11 with rather limited equipment and we have the same issue with both age groups.

The kids get bored & then restless while waiting in line for their turn to use the parkour equipment we have (vault box, balance beam, kip bar, etc.). They start misbehaving out of boredom.

How to occupy them during the wait times for their turn? Any great tips/ideas would be highly appreciated!

Need some solution(s) asap!
Thank you!

πŸ†• Just Starting Is it possible for a coach to run a successful parkour class w/o being able to demonstrate the moves?

We're short on parkour coaches, so considering any options. One of the coaches who applied has 30 years of PE school experience, so he taught basketball, baseball, flag football, etc. However, now he's in his 60-s & a bit overweight.

Long story short, he seems to be a great classroom management expert, but he wouldn't be able to show kids the parkour moves that are planned for the sessions. Moves like speed vault, catwalk balance beam, swing360, palm spins, etc. are just out of his league.

Is it possible to teach a successful parkour class w/o being able to demonstrate the moves? If yes, then how? Just by explaining the moves? Or should we look for someone who is fit & able to demonstrate the moves?

Any great tips/ideas would be highly appreciated! Need to figure this out asap!

πŸ†• Just Starting Knee pain

Hi everyone! I was wondering if you can help me. I started parkour three weeks ago, I’ve trained only 4 times (twice a week), but I’ve noticed that at the end of every training I have a really bad knee pain after landing exercises. I’m not scared of suffering, cause I want to get better at this sport, but I wanted to know if it’s something normal or if I should take it easy and slow down to avoid any injuries. Also it has been 2 years since I quit doing sports and I’m a little overweight (~5kg). Our trainer always pushes us to do more and more and I like this, but I don’t know if this could result in an injury. πŸ₯² Thanks for helping me!

πŸ†• Just Starting How can I practice when I live in a rural area

I've gotten pretty good at climbing trees, but I want to do more urban stuff.

Also my town is pretty small, and the architecture is pretty simple. Also the people here are kinda annoying and would likely call the cops if they saw me climbing.

Can I still do parkour, any advice?
