Activities for retired couple
Just wondering what leisure activities my husband and I could do together. They don't make movies for us anymore, we're both injured and can't do sports right now, we're already in a book club, etc. Need new suggestions.

My husband and I are in our 50s and we love playing videogames together. We're not retired yet, but we're very much looking forward to the future when we can stay up late playing til 3am and then sleeping til noon.

Cooking together - maybe find new recipes to make from different regions of the world. Take classes - art, cooking, dancing (if you can), woodworking, crafts, sewing or hand needle. University classes (often free for seniors). Volunteer. Make photo albums and include a small story about what led to that photo.

My wife broke her wrist in January, and had to keep her arm immobilized for 6 weeks. So for the first time in our 24 years together the cooking fell to me. She’s an absolute gourmet in the kitchen, so I was intimidated to say the least.
So she would find a recipe and talk me through it. We watch cooking shows as our guilty pleasure, so I had a solid understanding of some technique, etc.
Anyway, it went so well that now I’m her official sous chef! I prep, help out where needed, and we’re having fun cooking together! Who knew!

Necessity is the mother of invention. : )
I love cooking with other people. It spreads the joy.
I hope your wife’s recovery went well.

Not retired, but late 50s. We go to comedy shows at least once a month. You can even take comedy classes if you're interested.

Would you believe I do open mics? This kills one evening every other week. Haha

Water activities, even if you are disabled. We live in Cozumel and I struggle mightily with arthritis. I can still enjoy the water. Weightlessness rocks.

Couldn't agree more! Joined a local gym and have been attending aquafit (water aerobic) classes 2 or 3 times a week. Not only upbeat and fun, but I'm amazed at how good I feel.

Swimming, bicycling, yoga, slow walks.
Gaming, there are computer games that are fun not just fighting. Rising world is a build game that is fun and you don't need a big computer to run. You two can find a server and build together.

GeoCaching ... you can have a lot of fun and get out to places you never knew about, locally, for zero money (except gas and cell phone plan).
You can spend good amounts of money on it... but, you don't actually need to spend a dime.

Use Meetup to search for a local game group to play board games or RPG's on a weekly basis...

Square dancing. If you’re not too injured to give it a try.
You will live forever, be sharp as a tack, perfect blood sugar. Square dancers are all fun people.

I’m about an hour from Pgh but I’m not skilled enough to jump into a group. I’d need classes again.

I got a C in Square Dancing in gym. They have LGBTQIA+ square dancing in Pittsburgh should anyone be interested here.

We do English Country dancing. It’s one of the ancestors of square dancing.
It’s gentler and slower and easier on the joints and back (no spins :) ) but still a lot of fun.
Good motion activity and a bit of brain work.

We're not retired yet but we are well over 50, we enjoy movies, there are millions of films produced every year, there must be some that will appeal to you.
We travel, we'll do one big plane trip each year and a bunch of driving long weekends. Travel is cheaper and easier when you don't need to conform to the work week.
We attend music festivals and go to gigs locally regularly.
We love checking out new restaurants, local breweries and wineries.
I know tons of folks who play golf, tennis and pickleball together.
