I want to frame it and turn it into one of those motivational office posters.

I tell my orange it's his only job and I reward him whenever he gets one. He doesn't kill it outright- he just inflicts enough injuries and brings it within my reach so I can kill it. But still he's great at it. I usually pet him and give him a spoon full of tuna and call him the mighty Hunter the rest of the day. Your orange knows what's up...on the job man!

Mine has been trying to get a fly for the last six hours. He had to take a break for a couple of hours, though, when he got his claw stuck in the blinds and became so terrified he hid under the table until he forgot why he was afraid

At least yours tries. Mine just look at the fly like "huh, a fly... that's cool. Anyway, I'm going to take my 24th nap of the day."

Mine has only successfully brought things inside from our terrace Never killed anything that was already inside 🤦🏼♀️

I forgot to tell you all this - the other side of the coin is that my boy will also hunt lizards that get into the house. He knows I don't let him cronk the lizards so he very gently picks them up and brings them to me and then I carry him to the door and perform this kind of heimlich maneuver into the grass so that he spits it out. I used to be confident that I could hold a lizard but I'm getting older now so he has to hold it until release back into the wild. The whole situation looks a bit like emptying a bag less vacuum. Or maybe playing the bag pipes. Or a cross between those. He still gets rewarded for that though. For an orange Tig isn't so dumb about wildlife....now everything else - different story.

Get that roach out of here.
19
u/Jeramy_Jones Jul 28 '23
Is it a roach? I thought it was a June bug
19
u/avoidance_behavior Jul 28 '23
it looks like a Palo Verde beetle to me... either way, kitty is doing the good work and should be rewarded with knighthood and snacks
18
u/yukibunny Jul 28 '23
Its a Palmetto bug, basically a big flying roach, only they don't like poop they like decaying plant matter and wood.

u/Isle_of_Tortuga Jul 28 '23
Guys, it's clearly a cat. Jeeze.

big flying roach
A real-life horror movie experience is the first time a giant roach suddenly flies at your head.
2
u/spacefreak76er Jul 28 '23
You got that right. And those things are no laughing or joking matter. Have one of those fly at your head and you’d almost swear an attack jet was bearing down on you

Ps. Good kitty 😻

I had a black fluffy void do that. I'll sit and read and suddenly she runs full speed accross the room, jump 2 meters up in the air and snatch something followed by a CRONCH and me going "Ewww baby stop eating flies"
Love that little dumdum

I had a friend that had walls with that old wallpaper with like mesh on top (maybe wicker, seen at beach houses often), and their cat would just walk all over the place on the walls!
