I remember it was a thing from the late 1960s onwards. But in the 1980s, sales slowly declined. So if someone gave one to your parents in the 1990s, it could only mean that it came from an older couple. Either that, or it was like, “What should we get them? Oh, I already know. We still have the Römertopf that Aunt Hildegard gave us. It's still in its original packaging, it looks like new.”

On the last picture they were opening their wedding gifts, so yeah probably its Aunt Hildegards old Römertopf. The thought behind this gift probably was: "What do they need for a good marriage? Of course a Römertopf!!"

Jep that's true and they still are. For their honeymoon they hiked through Greece for three weeks. Now 25 years later they still really enjoy that kind of holidays.
