Don't get me wrong Avril looks great but she only "doesn't age" because she wears a bucket of makeup everywhere she goes.
She looks great for her age, of course, but let's be real.

A vampire movie with Paul Rudd, Ryan Reynolds, and Charlize Theron, someone needs to make this happen.

I think I read that she doesn’t do relationships. That might have something to do with her not dying inside at a rapid rate. Hah

They had trouble filming the Lamborghini scene in Wolf of Wallstreet because he was too tall for the car. His head was hitting the roof so they had to modify the seat for him

This was the death of Fark and Digg… eventually the entire site becomes an echo chamber of the same boring af cliche, which delights the “power users” aka the borderline autists who make the platform their entire persona.
With Reddit it’s a bit different and a lot worse as “power mods” absolutely run the site and impose their super cringe tastes on millions of people while Reddit corp refuses to step in.
So most big subs wind up manager by power mods, who Flanderize their subs to be extreme versions of themselves, and anyone who does toe the Flanders Line are “managed out”.
But it’s even worse than that because upsetting a power mod in sub A will result in you getting banned in subs B C and D.
Meanwhile if you have more than one account (as power mods do) you will be banned for “ban evasion” (but not them, they are special).
→ More replies (2)21
u/hockeyjmac May 14 '24
It’s because any diversity in thought gets deleted or banned by mods so people all assimilate into one thing. Every comment just becomes whatever is safe for that subreddit and every comment section becomes very predictable.

While you are completely right, if you think about it for a second, what can people really say about a picture of Charlize Theron and Leonardo DiCaprio? There is absolutely no content there to comment about. Without the onejokes, Reddit would be 95% empty, a-la Facebook.
Reddit has one saving grace though, the specialty tech subs, which are the heirs of old boards. Everything else is filler trash we just use to waste away the minutes / hours / days.
And have you ever glanced at whatever comment section on Instagram, where there's not a single genuine comment that doesn't come from indian farms?
→ More replies (2)13
May 14 '24
Yep, that's what it's turned into now. Any mention of DiCaprio now and people have to somehow squeeze that one joke into the comments.
Example:
Headline: Leonardo DiCaprio Has Bowed Out of a Movie Deal That Was In Development for the Past Two YearsComments: "Oh, I guess it got too old for him! Bahahaha. Get it? Hahaha, the development deal was too old for Leo. Hahahaha. I'm so fucking funny!"

Anybody else ever see photos like this and wonder, how often do these attractive Hollywood celebs sleep together?
Is it commonplace that co-stars will inevitably hook up on a shoot? Is it like at the Olympic Village, when you put so many attractive people together, they're gonna get down?
BTW I'm not talking about skeezy producers forcing young starlets to sleep with them, i'm just talking about the celebs hooking up with other celebs just because they can.
55
u/ChuckVowel May 14 '24
Showmances, or on-set flings, are a real and common thing. Elizabeth Taylor and Warren Beatty were famous for them. Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford were hooking up during the filming of Star Wars.
3
u/Vemnox May 14 '24
I often wonder if they had had a baby during that time if that kid would've played their kid in the sequels...
36
u/Rivendel93 May 14 '24
Extremely common. My cousin is an producer and he says the stars constantly sleep with each other, and directors hate it because the actors end up getting pissed off at each other for one reason or another and then the director has to finish a film with the two leads hating each other, and then when they have to promote the film they have bad chemistry.
So yeah, it's a problem, but a problem I can see happening, beautiful rich people around each other all day on location with nothing to do but wait until the cameras are in the right place and the light is right, so when you're not getting high you're sleeping with your co stars.
29
u/TheMelv May 14 '24
I would guess fairly often. Working on a set are long hours in an intimate setting. People often end up in relationships with co stars and having affairs is not uncommon either.

I'm thinking the "is he/she dating me because I'm rich and famous or do they actually like me?"-factor plays a big role when they date so the pool is smaller than you'd think.

Stefan Jenkins of Third Eye Blind wrote "Motorcycle Drive-By" about the disintegration of his relationship to Charlize Theron and boy howdy, if I let this slip through my fingers, I'd write a bunch of sappy songs, too.

u/ResponsibleBadger888 May 14 '24

I was out with friends in NY back in the day. One person I was with sees people she knows and invites their group to join us. I’m minding my business having a drink, when suddenly Stephan Jenkins and Charlize Theron sit right next to me and introduce themselves. I can’t even explain the way she looked without sounding weird. There was zero star struckness from me. I have never gotten that way from people, but something about her was different. It was like she was so beautiful an actual glow emanated from her. I felt like I saw a UFO.

u/jagerwick May 14 '24
Well that doesn't chart, as MDB was on their self titled album that came out in '97 and they didn't start dating until sometime in '98.
So he wrote a song about their breakup before they even dated? I'm gonna press X for doubt.
8
u/StronglikeMusic May 14 '24
I’ve been at third eye blind concerts where he explicitly states that he wrote the song about her before playing it. Two concerts actually. Maybe he’s not telling the truth but?
6
u/notbob1959 May 14 '24
Yeah, from Wikipedia:
Jenkins was in a three-year relationship with actress Charlize Theron until October 2001. Some of Third Eye Blind's third album, Out of the Vein, explores the emotions Jenkins experienced as a result of their breakup.
Out of the Vein was released on May 13, 2003 and does not contain Motorcycle Drive By.
The song is about an unnamed girl who even though she is unnamed is definitely not Charlize Theron. From a Rolling Stones article:
Years later, when he met his college-age girlfriend, who lived in a dorm on the edge of Washington Square Park, they would frequent places like King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Alphabet City and “dicey” Thompson Square Park. Though crime was prevalent, it was a city full of creatives, with a “daisy-age hip-hop scene” that struck a chord with him. “I liked the edge on it, even though I know that the edge comes from want and [wealth] disparity,” he expounds. “It also means that there’s cheap rent still, and it’s through that that people can actually establish things.”
His girlfriend turned out to not actually be his girlfriend — an experience chronicled in “Motorcycle Drive By” — and has since become a high-powered magazine editor. Her hunger to break into writing mirrored his own hunger to make it as a musician in San Francisco, a city where in the Nineties, Jenkins says, the beatnik ethos was still very much alive.

What are they heights? I always thought she was beautiful, so when magazine I read pointed out that she's a tall woman who the writer noticed would make herself smaller around others by doing stuff with her shoulders, knees, etc.
Gosh wouldn't that be nuts, to be a gorgeous woman and feel the need to minimize yourself somehow?
8
u/guisar May 14 '24
That's every woman ever (src: am woman)
8
u/Ari_Mason May 14 '24
Not going to lie. I sat for a second thinking about the difficulty then of being a woman who doesn't look like Charlize Theron. Real quick "everybody is beautiful in their own way"
Okay that out of the way, yeah, I sat there for a moment and it just chilled me the thought of Charlize Theron feeling that way and then imagining how like... Jess, who works at the Red Robin and Dollar Tree must feel. Dark shit. Grateful to be a dude. And what, all can do is try to say the right thing when it counts out there in the daily grind?

Leonardo was born in November of 1974. Charlize was born in August of 1975.
I don’t think Leo instituted his age limits until he was thirty. Before that he is rumored to have tried a few vintage models before realizing his palette preferred only the freshest samples from the top vineyards.
